In this video I have a look at a customers Subaru that got towed in for what I was told, "It quit going down the road and we think it is the alternator." Come to find out before the car was brought to me AFTER it quit on the highway the customer added 3qts of oil to it. You will see I added 1qt to it in the video and it was still a tad low. That makes it 4qts low when it died!! No wonder it turned out how it did... -Enjoy!
Oh yeah, CHECK YOUR OIL FROM TIME TO TIME!! ๐๐คฃ

Hello Eric. A shorter but excellent video. This video shows what happens when the basics in matenance checks are ignored. Now you have the negative task of letting your customer know the damage report. No one likes giving people bad news, but all part of running a repair shop. You perform the task with grace and diplomacy.
Another credit to your professionalism as Master mechanic.keep up the good work and keep the videos coming short or long.
knock knock you need some bearings lmao!
Add a quart of motor honey and call it good
One less ricer. I refuse to work on them. Don't get me wrong….I work on ricers. But I work them.
I found my wife's prius with 9 quarts of oil in it. Must have been worked on by her son Benjamin during his meth days. Asians.
Cameraman, and Stuntman will fix it!!!
I have a beef with all Subaru's, so I say " send it and all of them to the crusher!"
Gotta feed her the ole subaru knock slop. 4 quarts of 15w40 and one quart of 75 90. Warm tilll knocking slows. List on facebook Marketplace.
I'm so sorry Mr. O I see nothing wrong with just about anything you do, but please pronounce nuclear like new-clee-er and not nuke-u-ler.
That motor is shot sounds like a main bearing going out
Well at least they didn't drive it until it seized like my wife did.
Just swap out short block. No need for new motor
The folks ( male and female) In my household do not check their cars, ever!
Thatโs garbage
Stuff some NY pizza in the intake! It will be happy then!
Can you help me to get it fixed please it's important to me
I need some help with my car it run out of all the I like came on and it starting but when you put it to drive a reverse it just shut off when you step on the gas
Rev 'er up. Maybe she'll smooth out.
As far as rust prevention , its best to try and prevent it before it starts , and the best thing to use is a good truck and tractor paint with the hardner added! Make sure its clean and dry and possibly prime it first or just add the hardner and paint , use a paint brush if you want. The rubber crap just makes a mess and traps water !
โIn the bad places..โ why did I laugh so hard lol
If I'm sure it's oil probably won't crank it up first, check it to make sure.
200,000.00 miles bye.
WOW!
That sounded SO bad.
Typical Subaru
It's been my experience if the lie about how stupid they are it won't cost as much to fix
A colleague at work asked me "what is that little orange sailboat thingy that lights up on my dash every day when I drive in?"
Astro Glide
Oil is cheap
Engines are not
New oil change philosophy. Run her dry, no mess no fuss oil change. You think good oil is expensive!!
Main bearings on crankโฆ.
Sounds internal!run compression test
By niece didn't change oil in a brand new Monte Carlo ss for like ever goodbye engine!
The first thing you do is check all fluid levels!!!
DOA
People do indeed do strange things. My elderly mother has a 94 Lincoln Town Car with 600K miles that uses more oil and various other fluids than gas. Car is in very bad condition, but she she still keeps full coverage insurance on it and spends thousands every year to repair it. Money isn't an issue for her, so we just let her do what she wants. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
If it wasn't a subaru it'd be worth fixing, old cars are built better then the new crap is. We'll get to that point most people will wish they'd have kept their old vehicle
$100 they never should have attempted to take that thing on the hwy to begin with..
Well depending on the year. Subaru has added a oil sensor fail safe. It will either shut the engine off if low oil detected or prevent it from starting if no oil. If the fail safe did itโs job correctly, simply fill it back up, restart the engine and it will be fine. If it didnโt, then the search for damage begins.
Here in aus they recommend rebuilding at 200ks because the oil journals get clogged and they'll spin a bearing
Would horse whipping help people to check:Change their oil.
I just cannot abide morons.
๐๐๐๐
My step dad would run cars out of oil, blow the engines, and argue with me when I told him they need oil. Oh, the good ol days.
This brings back memories of when I popped my timing belt at 6700rpms in my 90 laser rs turbo. Things in the engine that should never meet were shankinh hands.
little late on this one lol… but from watching many of your videos, I can tell you that cars up there don't last as long as they do down here… that salt really plays hell on them. Down here we are still putting motors in 1970's cars for daily drivers lol… I just shoved a motor in my 94 dakota and hoping for another 300k miles… old one was still running fine, just smoked a little.
Piston slap. I've heard it multiple times before. Broke piston rod (at least 1).
Some folks are just meant to walk if you canโt do something as simple as ensure your car gets serviced once in a while.
Sounds like my Jeep when oil pump went out on interstateโฆknow how hard to find a good motor for 2000 Cherokee Sport๐ง๐๐ผ
Let us know if she actually got it fixed.
Sounds like a Deutz from 1949.
Subaru engines use a lot of oil, I can actually see how this could happen
