This is a damaged engine in a Chevy Impala. It died due to lack of overall maintenance and neglect.

Pater et Filius Spiritus Sanctus.
Lol that was a rough car indeed..
That GM3400 V6 is a junk engine from the get go.
I took my car to a mechanic who specializes in Japanese cars. He put 5 1/2 quarts in my 3 1/2 Quart Honda!
Blew my mind…
Thanks for the constant flow of knowledge, Ray. I’m doing commercial fleet mechanic training and your videos are helping me understand more than you can imagine so again thank you, sir.
What no complaints about ray junking some ones car? The shop has worked on worse than this! Granted it is not worth the money, but a little more investigation on the new seals and an exhaust gas test at least.
It's been my experience that valve stem seals are often the cause of smoke but, mostly when you first start after sitting for a while, there was hardly any I could see when you first started but plenty by the time you got into your service bay so I'm thinking something more catastrophic than that nice fairly easy fix. Sad to see another one die but, it is almost there.
This Impala looks like depression
She just changed the oil and it already looks dirty…you know what that means….it never had regular oil changes…probably got driven 8 to 10 thousand miles in-between oil changes…lol
This car is its own cliche. There's an 85% chance of finding "drug paraphernalia" in this car.
3400 and 3800 ARE NOT the same platform! the 3100 and 3400 are! they are General Motors 60° V6 engine the 3800 is 90° V6
Give it a cigarette and a blindfold. Lol
Ray, speaking of junk engines, whatever happened to that Toyota or Honda you bought to disassemble the engine?
Ya sounds like blown head gaskets for sure
Plugged PCV can also make a car huff oil. I suspect this car was very low on oil when it was brought to the oil change place and that is why it didn't smoke as much before.
I can't remember the last time I saw a 2000s Impala that wasn't abused. 2005 maybe? 😆😆
She’s a runner alright….
It's damnation week on Rainman Ray's channel! Come see him condemn multiple beaters to the crusher! (Crusher footage not included)
The only electronic item that should be required on any vehicle is one that disables the vehicle if the basic service mileage is surpassed.
Some people just have no business operating machinery! PERIOD!
That tint hirts my taint.
If it is valve seals, those are easy peazy. I would not condemn it, I would change the engine if it were rings.
Ok.!!
Till next time…👍
Definitely that engine shouldn't smoke, as we all know, smoking is bad for you
I hated those damn foam steering wheels.
Or sucking it through the Pcv! My Malibu did that. Everyone had thought it was bad rings and such as well from how much smoke. Turned out it was just the PCV Sucking oil straight out of the front valve cover
Somehow I get the dealing that the owner likes to drink
He with one hand in middle top part of the steering wheel
Video must have been shot in the morning, cuz that part of the steering wheel missing the foam midday is hot as a soldering iron. 😁
I wouldn't have even tried starting it without checking the oil first..
Good for parts
But Ray, how many miles? You have me addicted to the milage like a crack addict and you left me hanging.😂
At least you could have made the battery terminals all "shiny"……(LOL)
Send that shit to the junk yard it crawled out of
Didn't watch this one. 60 degree gm, intake failure left untreated, cracked cylinder head jacket, scored mains. RIP
I’ve owned two cars that ran a 3.4: a ‘94 Camaro and a ‘02 Grand Am GT. One was a great car, the other was garbage.
Personally, I always preferred my ‘01 Grand Prix GT. You really can’t go wrong with a 3800.
Not much troubleshooting going on before condemning…….
Poor car! 😢🙏
Imagine, you did a oil change for customer and checked and tightened the oil plug THEN they come back and said all the oil drained out and engine blew up!!! Your boss asks you did you tighten plug and you say YES!! So customer is scamming but the whole cost of the engine is on the line especially if he swears out a complaint and all that just to get a new engine. My father had oil change and i just checked after under the car just to check and all that and found the plug HALF loose on just a few threads!!!! So some mechanics dont check or dont tighten before filling with oil?? From that point forward even as a backyarder, i check those things religiously on any car i asked to work on even for free or favour and check suspension for loose stuff too and brakes…..
As a retired police officer, all of the the chevy squad cars had naked steering wheels well before a year of service. The foam just seemed to crumble and fall off.
“Cars no good” end of video, I’m unsubscribing…. You’re a mechanic not a YouTube celebrity 🙄
It’s a Chevy thing 😂
so many condemn to death cars recently! my pickup may go down that road too. the rear is making noise and the transmission started slipping. all depends on how many moneys it will cost
on the bright side that is the absolute worst generation of impala so its death is fine
I love these, get a few every month, my $400 car had nothing wrong with it before they changed the oil. I mean, not to bag on someones ride, but it just always seems to be the oldest roughest condition vehicles when it happens? Just me?
50 years ago we would have fixed it
Throw away society annoys the crap out of me
Good work ray
I might have checked the PCV system… as unlikely as it might be. I find it strange that the problem started with an oil change… maybe the other shop ran it without oil?
Hay just two things I would of checked one is not so hard to check obviously that would be the first one I would check the second is a little more involved but considering they just did the valve covers checking the intake gasket I have seen a pcv valve stick open and suck a bunch of oil in the engine causing it to foul the spark plugs and run like that.
Car was missing on 2 cylinders lol
Parking lot of shame 😂
Carpark life for this car up in smoke cheech and chong approved.
Hears "Another one bites the dust" off in the distance. 🤣🤣🤣
Mini coopers blow!!!
My impala lasted 300,000 miles before the transmission started failing. But the engine was going strong, still had working AC even
Up here I seen people sink $2,000 in putting a motor in high mileage vehicle like this. Then return when the transmission crap out and wanting us to warranty something that was not part of the original repair. I had a guy recently drive in a piece of junk Ford 2003 van that had great stuff expanding foam all over the body. The thing looked like it was in a demolition derby. I guess the story was he drove from New York since he just had an rebuilt motor put in from New York. Made it to our shop. The thing was smoking just like this. It had 175K miles on it. The front end suspension was spanked too. Was heading to California too. The warranty is only good in New York where the shop did the work. I would imagine the towing bill is more than the vehicle was worth.
The GM 3.1 and 3.4 v6 engines are known to have overheating problems and not as reliable as the 3800 series engines. I had a Buick century with the 3.1 V6 and the thermostat stuck closed on it and tried to overheat. After I fixed that the car was never the same, I had heard problems about me 3.1 V6 and didn't believe it until I owned one.
The plug wires looked shiny new, too. How old is this video? The Mini and Suburban were awhile ago.
Hey Ray great diagnostic as usual you know that old Kenny Rogers song The Gambler you got no when to back out you got to know when they're on the way out you made a good decision cuz once you turn the screw on that thing you did everything to that engine and it was perfect when it rolled in hey have a good night bye
Reeeeeeee I watch these to see auto parts not your face😎
HEY! @rainmanray where's this Suburban reference vid? Hmmmm?
If you must own one of these turds get one with the 3.8.
3.4 is a POS design. End. Of. Story
"They're just going to ride it the way it is and that's how it's going to live out the rest of it's life". Funny because with the way it's running I don't think it could drive itself to it's final destination: The Junkyard.
That car was in the Parking lot of shame when it was being loaded on the Dealer delivery truck……..
Never Checked The Coolant Level. Its low on Compression Just By Listening to the Way it Spins Over. I Have replaced Many Head Gaskets on these as Well As Intake Manifold Gaskets . Intake Gaskets Go Bad Leaks Coolant. Overheats The Engine. Fix the Intake Leak Now Engine Holds Water . And then You Get Misfires And Smoke out the Pipe. Basics Kids. Never Seen a 3.4 with Smoked Rings, I Agree with all Other Mechanics That Also Replied Bad Head Gasket. Always Have them Checked For cracks. Straighten the Heads New Gaskets Proper Torque on The Heads And Push Go .
The car God's are calling that automobile home for a new life as a Ford.
I thought it was "poppin' zee hood."
Best thing
Just replace the engine. Those Always come with new mounts. 😳🤣 Fill it with the oil from the old engine. Can't waste that $39.95
You can tell by the sound it makes cranking that there is at least 1 cylinder making zero compression
Had 04 impala exact same problem
Did you just drive through a bunch of Ducks?🦆🦆🦆
For being what I presume is a beater car I'm impressed at how relatively clean it looks. Good job owner
I once read a quote, "GM card run shitty longer than most cars run at all". Case in point, this Chevy Impala.
The Impala has had one too many tigers on its ass. RIP !
Yep that's a junker for sure. Probably got that way from lack of maintenance. I mean the chunk out of the steering wheel says it all….
👍
It’s like people are bringing you junkyard finds for the laugh lol
We could use that car where I’m at to fog for mosquitoes since the city isn’t going to do it.
Till death do us part
RIP little red car!☹️😔
Sounded like the old Plymouth in the movie Christine, have to sat though I live in Upstate NY and most cars are rusted out by the time they hit 100K
Maybe they convinced her that she needed to get the engine flushed and the chemicals devoured what little was left on the seals. Happened to two people I know
What happened to the steering wheel ?
Love the intro!!!
Have they been trying to eat the steering wheel?
I enjoyed it but I'm very curious who took a bite of that steering wheel
The stale cig cancer stick odor in that car must have been overwhelming. I would not even enter such a stink bomb.
Drive it around the block and kill the mosquitos
My dad would say "it's a perfectly good used car", look at it, it's a flawless gem"!
They been chewing on the wheel.
Nice video Ray !!
Hey, why didn't you read codes? IMHO I'm thinking swapped spark plug wires after valve cover gaskets.
Love your channel, keep up the enthusiasm. 👍🏁
Fill it up with oil and check the gas!!! Bring it to Virginia, maybe the oil cloud will kill all the Chinese Lanternflys.. Can't kill enough of them buggers.
Whatever happened to doing compression test on the cylinders
It cranks with uneven compression then smokes like its on fire. She's toast!
It has a gender identity problem. It thinks it's a 20 year old Toyota or Honda.
420 comments lol
I enjoyed most of this video and I am having a great day. LOL
"It's got a million miles left" said no Impala owner, ever!!
Nice mosquito fogger you have there! 👍😂
