I love ur videos 📹 there Kool plus ➕️ I learned more than what I now, God blessed u.
we called that a sticker plate when i worked in a body shop years ago. I Enjoy your channel.
The part the latch catches is called the striker.
Another great vid Ray.
Thanks.
All that crap in the back is probably rattling.
It's called a striker plate just saying from up north UK 🇬🇧 🙄
OMG I have enjoyed your channel for a while now. JUST TODAY as you test drove Tahoe, I recognized the surroundings. I live in Sarasota, Florida right down the road. LMAO
It's so east to install wiper blades with one hand, anyone can do it!
Watching this channel and that of another guy in upstate New York introduced me to the Astro work lights. I ordered one from Amazon and use it in my handyman business. It is a great tool.
People always floor it out of the laundromat by my place and the O'Reilly across the street from it. Despite the police station being less than 1000 feet away. Your guess is as good as mine as to why the idiots think thats a good idea.
my mechanic is my brother in law so I don't care if I have some empty water bottles on the floor. that is about all that I have for garbage in my vehicle.
At the end when you backed out of the stall….the camera came on.
Would tell the customer, sorry I am not hunting down any noises in this until all the interior is cleaned out.
The backup camera activates from the reverse light wires (ties in) …probably a cheap connector
Have all that rubbish flying about in your car, then complain about some sound out of the door.
Throw that stuff out. Don't lug around tens of kilos of refuse. That makes your car louder, makes it go slower, hurts your fuel economy, pollutes unnecessarily, handles worse… And if you have to brake forcefully you'll have to deal with an avalanche of crap going over you while trying to deal with the situation. And if you flip over, you'll have to dig yourself out first before even trying to get out of the car. Clean it up.
A Chevy!? No way!
Boy, them are sum Dubba wheels on that Tahoe? Nothing like rubberband tires to absorb the shocks of the road!!
Lol. I just took a picture of my odometer showing 156,000. My kid looked at me like WTF. Wish I could have posted the picture here.
about the camera in order to work it has to have a wire conected to the reverse light or to the valve. when reverse is set the camera turns on automaticly
I have the same radio and same camera issue, it's a pioneer problem
Why does the customer want the timing chain and oil pump replaced…? Have they confirmed that timing chain slack is messing with anything? Have they confirmed that the oil pump is not providing sufficient pressure? Those typically arent parts you replace without proper cause… and if your oil pump is bad, youve likely got bigger problems with your engine than just that.
It's called a striker..
rew. cam gets signal from rewese light or just the easy way to plug it in
As for the door latch post, some firefighters call them "Nader bolts". Supposedly they're impossible to cut through with hydraulic rescue equipment, which is why they cut around the door latch. Somehow this relates to the politician nobody elects but who always runs.
So, you magically fixed the backup cam? It came on while you were backing up at the end of the video. Go figure…
Anybody else see the backup camera working at the end customer is a moron 😂
On home doors the part the latch latches on to is called the strike. Not sure if it’s the same for automotive
The backup camera issue reminds me of my head unit; when properly installing the head unit, one is supposed to splice a wire into the parking brake wire. This signal tells the head unit that the car is not moving. If the signal shows that the brake is not engaged, the head unit will display a message, stating that the stereo should not be operated while driving. To sidestep this issue, one either grounds that wire, or connects it to 12v, and the head unit thinks that the vehicle is stopped.
If the vehicle in the video has been grounded in that way, the backup cam may not activate. It's also likely, as Ray stated, that one of those dangly wires (I would guess pink) would see what gear the car is in and turn it on. That wire may have a similar effect of disabling some head unit functionality while the car is in anything other than park, causing the owner to not install it
Thankyou Sir, love the channel
Ray these kinds of camera tap into the cars harness at the reverse light so when they come on the camera and radio get 12v this triggers the radio to display.
Great 👍 video Ray, got to say them wiper blades were tricky, great if you do them all day anyway 😀 Great video Ray cheers 🇬🇧
have you ever entered a dirty and disgusting customer car?
Usually these aftermarket HU connect to the reverse light wiring to turn on the backup camera input
Wondering why the drivers door inside handle didnt unlock the door when it was pulled? Didnt know front doors have child settings..
The cam just lost it's reverse light power to the deck to trigger the cam. Probably is one of those dangly doodles under the dash.
The Pioneer head unit has a wire that needs to be connected to a source that will tell the unit that the vehicle has been put in reverse. This could be a reverse lamp wire. I connected mine to the back of the instrument panel in my Toyota Hilux as there are lamps that indicate what gear the vehicle is in, I connected the head unit wire to the wire that connects to the reverse indicator lamp. You can connect the wire to a number of sources depending on ease of access.
The rattling is probably the garbage in the backseat moving around.
You usually connect the signal wire to the backup light wire, so your custom head unit knows to switch to the backup camera when you select reverse. Just FYI to the owner of this vehicle.
(edit) Already a comment from Ben Bachman saying the same thing (his comment was first).
I demand more wiper blade clicks. They are very satisfying.
Years ago, a guy I knew who was changing wiper blades and had the wiper arm up away from the windshield. It slipped out of his hand and the spring force of the arm slammed it into the windshield causing a nice big crack. I put a folded towel under the arm whenever I change them. Just good preventative advice!
The reverse light's turning on actuates the reverse cam. These aftermarket units are designed that when the unit's (dedicated) wire – which is spliced into the reverse light circuit- gets the voltage, it switches the screen to the reverse camera.
Those dangling cut wires might have been it, cut by the break switch installer. I personally installed one of those head units in the car referenced at the end.
I'm not an anti car-mechanic, on the contrary, I love your vids – but I can tell you MANY of my own stories, when the repair of one thing damaged something else. My latest was, an AC evaporator replacement in the dash, made my cruise control inoperative (3 yrs old Hyundai). It was a dealer's mechanic's job.
10 minutes till whoppner
I actually have that exact head unit in my truck. It has a wire in the stereo harness called “reverse input signal” that should be wired into the reverse tail lamp signal wire, so when you put the vehicle in reverse it will send a 12v signal to the head unit telling it to switch inputs to the backup camera. When I put mine in I just ran a separate wire from the head unit to the positive side of one reverse lamp in order to trigger the backup camera input.
The door striker bolts are called Nader pins…. its a reference to Ralph Nader who ran the govmnt highway safety program for years. He is also the one that bagged on the Chevy Corvair so bad because of Rollovers in a fast turn and also loss of control in the rear axle. The corvair was a rear engine design like a volkswagon bug and the engine is mounted on top of the transaxle. Because of Ralph Nader demanding change in safety equipment on cars, the nader pin was developed to hold the door shut in an accident but able to easily be sheared off by first responders to open a damaged door to rescue the driver.
what is the Nane of that Matco T-40 tool you were using
Someone tried to break in the Tahoe. A slim jim would tear up the weather strip
Ase master certified here… I heard r&r oil pan gasket and its still leaking….. uh …..yep.. .. rear main seal plate, valley panI.. yep
I have that same stereo it's probably the positive wire from the reverse light to the back of the radio is not hooked up or came unhooked my car did the same thing I had to reattach it
Years ago, the drivers door on my ex's car rattled, it was 'drooping' on the hinges, I'd suggest that the previous owner or someone was prone to leaning on the door or had the door hinges damaged somehow…
So I used the car jack and a block of wood and jacked the door up…taking the rattle out and it also closed a lot easier, you have to be careful not to jack the door up too high, just enough to 'fix' the issue…
