In a previous video ( https://youtu.be/NO4MHsvtQg0 ) I diagnosed a Dodge Avenger that had a code for the AIR Check valve being stuck, a code P2441. Indeed the valve was stuck and now it's time for the repair. -Enjoy!

I have p 2433 same car
But how does the secondary air system work, Eric? How do you diagnose whether it's the pump, the valve, or an oxygen sensor? What did that change in voltage indicate?
What does something like this cost with parts n service repairs
Dodge trash ๐
i have a 08 avenger se 2.4 j series is this what it was..if do you have the part number i need to replace..i cant find anything on it
Bbbindustries removed all tsb s and wireing diagrams wtf lol
How does the hose come off from the check valve
how did you take the hose out from the check valve , did you pulled out or etc
What is the mechanical benefit of having the air pump valve and the air injection pump? My car does not have these things. Recently, the car does not want to start easily, rather takes time and a few key turns to do so. Is this failure related to such things that are missing?? The problem is recent. Have had the car for two years. Thank you
Hi. My name is Ron and I am messaging about this valve here. I recently swapped motors from my 2012 avenger with a motor out of a 2010 Chrysler Sebring and the OEM motor didn't have this on it. The replacement motor in now has this check valve on it. My question is do I need this hooked up, is this a part just for vehicle that were located up north? If you can, please feel free to calle at 2252880017. Thanks! Really would appreciate it!
Does this solve the problem with the air injection pump cycling on and off, it runs the battery down overnight.
Was this car cutting off when idling at stop lights?
This valve is common on euro trash. VW/Audi, Volvo like to use them. VW/Audi ones tend to be vacuum controlled. VW/Audi like to mount the pump low so when they fail open they end up with condensation from the engine filling them with water, and the pump fails also.
I painfully appreciate your advice on those one way ratchet wrenches as it came too late. A few days ago I got careless and backed a bolt out until the wrench contacted the curve on a driveshaft and there is no way to reverse the ratchet and screw the bolt back in. I had to cut the bolt to get my wrench out and spend another few hours trying to find a specialized oddball replacement bolt that was not in stock or available anywhere.
If you can do it—go ahead, I'll watch, that way I can still have an operating vehicle after its all over.๐
Love your videos! Very helpful and just like watching them. And as a fellow upstate New Yorker also deal with rusty garbage ๐๐ป. Thanks and keep em comin!!
Hi Eric!!! Loving yours videos, and your tools. You use a Launch cell phone like at the end, which model its that one, i cant find it at the Launch page, thanks in advance!!
Eric, really like your detailed orientation especially around these types of diagnosis. I donโt think Iโve ever seen anyone with so much in-depth knowledge around scan troubleshooting and the use of specialize tools.. Good stuff, keep doing what you do. We love it ๐

Just want to say thanks for the inspiration, great channel, lots of interesting stuff, got me motivated enough to do the head gasket on a 2.2 Diesel Hyundai Santa fe, Don't see to many of the vehicles over here in Australia, and nothing like the rust that you have to deal with…
Seeing you working on messed up cars, brings to mind a "project" for our son. Mitzi CYBORG HATCH, 1999. Wanted another mitzi motor, 1800cc to replace 1500cc. Other Engine mounts , computer, wiring. WIRING?!!!!. Other instrument panel etc. Result, got a donor to take it back to original. He didn't like it, so got something else. ……….
Great job again A+
Video idea: For us DIYer's out there who curse scan tools, computers, and their very existence… You did another video that pointed out that for a rear brake job you needed a bi-directional scan tool. A lot of repairs are starting to need scan tools that can perform tests, activate components, etc. And those scan tools are the multi-thousand dollar types. So, in today's world, with technology as it is, and, we already have generic OBDII that can blue tooth to our phone, why isn't someone out there offering a fully functional, do it all, scan tool that is blue tooth, wi-fi, USB to OBD, through a PC, phone, or tablet, (or MAC) for a price of what it actually costs to produce, probably a couple hundred dollars? Looking at the scan tools, they appear to be PC based anyway. It really looks like someone took a tablet, slapped Snap-ON on it, and jacked up the price. Maybe I'm going a little conspiracy theory on this, but I feel like there is a lock down on that type of stuff, keeping it so expensive that the DIYer and even the private owned shops, like SMA, are forced to remain dependent on the dealer. Which, where I live, you can't get a repair done at a dealership for less than $400. The reason: if you don't know any better, let's say the situation is a bad ground, like in one of your other videos (a little Ford Sedan). At a dealership, that person would have got a new computer, probably a battery, and a few other components. And the ground cable would have been fixed during installation of those. Anyway, just throwing the idea out there. And, maybe a video on the best full function scan tool options for DIYers. (BTW, in my area, private owned garages are the way to go. We do have some squared away shops here.)
OTC does care about it ,shit the bed
Hey eric ….do you have access to Instagram account
Hi Eric
I see you are not using your Snap On Verus Pro(D-10). Why? Is it cost of unit? Functionality? Cost of upgrades to software?
spendy little valve but best way is oem new, job jobbed and no come backs .
plus side is quick diagnose and quick fit .
superscraper going sell out again lol .
Thanks again for your time and help you are awesome.. This is my go to for electrical issues by far the most helpful..Thanks againe, a follow upstate New Yorker…..
Nice job. Even though most of repairs on modern cars are now electronic related, the time tested method of logic problem solving still applies.
Welcome viewers, to the South Main Auto Channel ….
Thanks for the follow-up video. Informative about the abilities of the scanners. Apparently they think you don't need certain info. I agree that all scanners should have to pass Dr O's SMA acceptance!!
Watching this in my just delivered SMA swag! Thanks for making the original shirt design available. Love it!
Did you get the Diagun scantool from Diagun alley?
Hey Eric!! I have an idea!! Get one of those automatic call on hold system, and put the youtubers on indefinite hold!
Let it play some HORRIBLE ELEVATOR MUSIC, and come back to announce "YOUR CALL IS IMPORTANT TO US, PLEASE REMAIN ON THE LINE, AND YOUR CALL WIL BE ANSWER IN THE ORDER IT WAS RECIEVED! PLEASE HANG ON", every 30 seconds!
I know they have those, I seem to be able to call one, at least once a week, sometimes twice! But, it's never from anyone that considers your call IMPORTANT, and could care less about your business!! Like when you call the DMV to find out how to get your license reinstated. Or when you call the hospital billing dept, to complain about being overcharged for an aspirin!! Or, when you call the power company, to report a power outage!! Or when you call 911, to report the old man next door that just got ran over by a Mack truck, or to report that some unknown people are breaking into your neighbors house, or to report the DRUNK DRIVER that you are following thru a school zone, and thru a parade route. (On a side note. Have you ever noticed that people are always crashing into buildings and such, or other vehicles, and always need an ambulance? However, you never see them crash into hospitals, and are never right there for the ER staff to come out and rescue them?)
You know who never uses those call answer services? Small restaurants!! Businesses that are slowly going under! The "report a crime" tip line!! If you call a small restaurant, it's like the phone never rings, it is just instantly picked up. Like they have nothing else to do, and are patiently waiting for your call!! And they can never say the name of the restaurant clearly, so that you know that you called the correct, number! You call "Andrews Italian Bistro", and they answer the phone, "ANDS", and you don't know what they said, and ask, is this Andrews Italian Bistro, and they say "yeah, that's what I said, ain't it"! I used to work for a small local restaurant, WAFFLE HOUSE! (LOOK IT UP) And the mgr would answer the phone, "Waffhous mhelpya"! Or a retail outlet, that is going under! You call, and they answer half way thru the first ring, and detail every product they have, and announce that everything is half priced, before you get to say that you're sorry, but you dialed the wrong number! I hate it when you call the crime tip lines, where they say, "AND YOU DONT HAVE TO GIVE YOUR NAME! And you call, and tell the guy that answers the phone that there is a guy that you think is responsible for dumping large amounts of trash at the end of a local dead end street, and that you have his truck license number, and a description of his vehicle, and driver, and that you want to help clean up the city. And the guys thanks for the information, calls you by name, and quotes your address to where to send the anonymous check!! Turns out, it was a guy that you went to grade school with, that never forgets a voice!! He's like RAIN MAN!! He got a job at an anonymous crime tip line?? Really??
Or, an even better idea, to irritate and torture you tube callsers. Read this comment on tape, and play a loop of it. ONCE!! That'll stop them from calling back!!
Why when you were viewing the live data did the voltage change to 4 volts yet there was no reading on the kg/h scale?
Mr o u should do a video on scanners I'm in the market for one just wondering Wich one you would recommend snap on launch otc allteal
My biggest complaint about the $518 Launch Diagun IV scan tool……..it didn't cost $12,000! ๐ Launch Diagun IV scan tools for all Snap-on employees, dilly dilly.
i really don't care if the compressor runs. or the phone rings i can still see and hear what your doing.
How come we didnโt get to go along on the test drive ?!?? We helped fix it ๐
Please put your compressor outside in an insulated building it would cost around $100 to do so period here in North Carolina that's the way we do it. It's not any colder up there is it….?????. But really if you did move it outside I think you would really like it
๐ have a great weekend…
Great update video Eric O

Stainless steel and aluminum are dissimilar metals and will cause galvanic corrosion. Same goes with steel, but it is less so. Unfortunately no aluminum fasteners, so you're stuck with steel.
I've been meaning to ask you, why do you have so many of the OBD diagnostic tools and also, why would you use one on a specific car than another?
