Don't even offer the thumbs down option, your really easy to follow, and I like your saying, but you didn't say anything about zert, or the torque on that lock nut.. Kerry Grant luvs mother earth and not pludoctats fracking narssistic psyopathic autocrats.

I just bought one of these Grand Caravans new- last year. As soon as my bumper to bumper warranty is over, I will take my front end apart and apply anti-seize compound to the splines of my CV axles. Thank you, for showing me future potential problems.
I admire your attention to detail.
I've never seen a half shaft rusted up like that. Now I know.
Good jobs
Now I see why a job like this made take so long. Thanks man!
still scared 😉
You could have saved so much time and energy by inching down the ball joint while giving space for the bolt. DOH!!
Put never seez on the new spline before installation. I have 2 dodge vans I bought new, a 98 and 2000 and it's 10/21 now. If they don't get taken out because of an accident, they might be going for another 10 years, so I prep replacement parts where I can for another replacement down the line. The new replacement parts are not as good as the OEM parts in most cases and will not have as long a life.
Love your videos..it’s a warts and all kinda thang..way way better than those other instructional videos. Keep em coming Eric O.
Ya need a one inch impact 😛
As a DIY"er, I appreciate your honesty and loyalty to your customers Eric. I made the mistake of taking my nissan to a local shop for a alternator swap (had part), and after the repair, I was left with a car that 'died' after 6 miles. down the street. Wannabe mechanic never plugged it up…field coil…left my wheel well splash shield dangling and rubbing tire, and my windshield washer reservoir unbolted and putting its 'full of fluid"' pressure on the splash shield. Not to mention forgot to tighten the serpentine belt. Had to finish the other 'Repairs" myself. Shop refused to after coming back. Back to doing My Own work again…
It’s stuff like this that makes me glad I have a good mechanic to take my vehicles to…. we get a lot of used vehicle out of Michigan that have the same issues that you face…. RUST…
would it be a good idea to change the upper and lower ball joints at the same time
You often say at the end of your videos, "If I can do it, you can do it" but sometimes it is better if I pay someone like you to do the job for me. You have the tools and the knowledge for the job, I'd have to learn what tools I would need and then muddle my way through the job. The school of hard knocks sometimes has a very hefty tuition.
Us hillbillies always use a sledgehammer on the cars usually straightens them right out
I actually had a lower ball joint fail going to work one morning in my 89 Silverado I was only going 25 but it was still scary enough
I am watching this video in July 2021 Thanks for sharing.
Gotta love when an easy job throws you a curve ball. Happens to be often living in a salt state. I never come to a job without my torch and some hammers
My third time doin mine soon !.
are you going to do the other side too?
👏👍 Good Job!! Thank God, they use Sand here in Texas and not Salt!
If you'd move your shop here, you'd be doing your jobs in Half the time.
Just sayin'.
I hate rusty axles, good job as always.
Great come back Eric. You got er done in the end as per usual. Good man.
The Slo mo sledge hammer action was awesome!
I work at a shop in florida. We get the snowbirds here during the winter and I work on my fair share of rusty brakelines
and rusty suspension components. I cringe when I have to work on rusted crap.
Lol
What? No music for "the good stuff? Lol
Why did you put a new axle on ?
Some days your the fly and other times your the windsheild.

Another great video, just like all your other vids. Wish u were over here in California to take u all my cars to get fix
Very Awesome!!! Really appreciate your efforts in making these videos.
mine has a snap ring
What do you torque to? I need to change my ball joints.
My 2012 Caravan is just now starting to show it's age mechanically and I'm glad I stumbled aboard to know what I can do to save time and money.
Truck owner lucky to have you bro. Real lucky.
Cool job. Clean shop and I had fun watching. Can't fathom the corrosion. Thanks for the video. The mountains in west Tx wish you well.
Great video, anyone know the torque on the cv axle lock nut?
greats Video don't Was easy to do Job Special with all this kind The problems
Was just helping a buddy on his Nissan Armada rear,we could NOT get the axle out PERIOD. WE RENTED THE $400 tool from the auto parts store, broke that! Luckily the bearing wasn’t sloppy yet. Could not buy a new axle anywhere so how far down the rabbit hole we could go was limited to “can’t chance ruining the axle”! We will meet again I’m sure
You are a straight up guy, god bless you, wish you the best
Yes! I am. You did your best, there was no way to get that Barring out without having to put a new axel in. Great job!!
what was the torque spec?
It happens all of the time! Rusted Parts!
Mighty interesting task. Interesting??? Frustrating is probably nearer the mark, but I understand where you came from on this one, Eric. Happy Days are here again…….
scared the crap out of me I'm in chicago and have a 12 year old caravan but the axle poped out with a light tap with a brass hammer
I've had both my shafts out of my 2011. Luckily mine weren't seized like that. I've pushed axles out of GMs before and pushed out the backside of a hub bearing. That;'s frustrating.
YES,, Good quality works
…. Wath from Canada french side…..
