In this video I have a look at a 2010 Hemi Dodge Ram 2500 5.7 that was brought to us by another local shop. It was brought to them with a severe case of rodent damage under the hood. After they repaired the wires from the damage they still had a misfire on the number seven cylinder. The coil was swapped and it still remained. Let's have a look at the problem. -Enjoy!

Your hoodie strings were dangerously
Close to serpentine belt on a running
Engine!
The rodent or the attempted repair could have blown the ECM.
I had a garage blow my car battery after a bit of welding but said they thought the battery was on it’s last legs when I took it in.
I know what they did, they knew what they did.
I have a 2001 dodge ram 1500 and it was stored at my sister's house when I was in a nursing home for a year and a half and has rodent damage to the battery power wire to the alternator and it would not charge at all found that worr was cut all the was through
Where did you get that over engine creeper?
Your hoodie draw strings dangling near the front of a running engine seem quite dangerous…
Hey Eric, those hoodie strings hanging near the serp belt have me nervous for you.
It sounds like a loss of fuel pressure.
The ropes to your jacket and the serpentine belt won't mix well. Tie them back.
Critters love fuel lines. Had me running around like Bill Murray in Caddyshack!!
What do these other shops do when they tell a customer they need a new coil, replace it, and the problem is still there. Does the customer still pay for the coil? I've never taken a car to a shop for repair so not sure how this works.
Maybe the wood chuck gnawed off the wire for the 7 coil mid fireing
Wood chuck cranks but wont fire or run
He was eating a lot of wires must of been hungry 😋
The Woodchuck story from the driver's wife had to be true. No way she could think that up. And she ran the Woodchuck over with her vehicle. ???
Well the woodchuck piched the lucky number 7 at least
Someone should create an interactive wiring diagram where you can touch any component or wire on the screen and it highlights it and it’s connections. Would make it a lot easier to read and trace circuits.
Might of been quicker and easier to swap the engine harness, no time wasted on unneeded diag
The code is to ram it into a pole
Smooshed the wood chuck hahaha
That was very astute of you to realize that the primary voltage reflects the secondary. I doubt many people would know that. I do because I have the training in electronics but I think your average mechanic wouldn't.
HEA YOU WOOD CHUCK'S STOP CHUCKING ALL MY WIRES
Rodents….last month I found my Jeep TJ airbox packed full with moss and other nesting materials. I couldn't believe it. My wife and I love your videos. We need more shops in our area like yours.
Initially, with your test light connected to the positive battery terminal, you had no light on both coil wires. When you switched the light to the negative terminal, you had power on both coil wires. I would have assumed that the driver in the ECM was shorted to power, most likely because woodchuck buddy had shorted the wires together. Would have seemed to be some short-circuit protection built into the ECM, but who knows…
soy based biodegradable vehicle wiring insulation…. what could possibly go wrong?
I have a question for you I have a 1997 Dodge Ram 3/4 ton heavy duty 5.9 no spark from the coil distributor place the distributor cap rotor coil crank sensor and no spark
lol hoody strings are one thing, rideing the 67 van around with the hood open and a statonary fan 9 inches from your fanny is another. we all do what we must to find the donkey in the cupboard
See you are using the top side creeper. Wish I had it years ago. Beats balance act of knees on radiator support, one hand on fender or cowel, and one hand to work. Using both hands while supported over the car makes the job a lot easier. Love your vids keep up the good work.
hey whilst watching i noticed your hoodie sweatshirt top strings hanging down just worried as the car and was very close to one of the aux belt pulleys .dont want you getting strangled i enjoy your videos but not from the emergency room lol
Hoodie Strings!!!
Great stuff Eric O 👍🏻🇬🇧
As you were leaning in over that Dodge to connect to the ignition coil, the strings of your hoody were very close to the spinning alternator pulley
love to see a good meckanick that knows what's he's doing
These diagnostic information system built into cars are great, but they seem to be missing one feature that could add greater reliability. A few IR sensors under the bonnet (hood) that looks for a small heat source moving randomly about in the engine bay when the car is parked. Perhaps even, on detection, have it trigger a loud sound to scare the little buffer off.
I curse thoes red clips every day!!!
For crying out loud, how many people need to comment on the #*?! hoodie strings? Another good video Eric! -Thanks
How about ALL of them?! Fortunate for me it was only a half dozen in the bundle. (Old school vehicle)
Rodent damage a field mouse to be exact did the same to my 2000 Dodge ram, but my neighbor across the street fared worse with his Chevy silverado, the rodents built a nest in his firewall and caused the heater box to catch fire.
Poor Woodchuck 🙁 Great job though Eric!
holy chit
On my Chevy van I found that the rodents only chewed on the wires that carry constant current.I’m wondering if their saliva mixed with current give them some sort of stimulation.
your hood strings were getting rreal close to the alternator pulley…careful buddy..don't want to loose you..lol
"Wife driving behind smooshed the woodchuck." You can't make this stuff up.
Hey I love your videos so do me a favor and cut those hoodie strings I would hate to see anything horrible happen to you
Mice have been nesting on chrysker products from decades, that could be a possible explanation for its quality …. naaaa just and isolated case
Given some time I'm gonna say all of them
