In this video I have a look at a ladies Subaru that she had at another shop for a brake light problem. They informed her they "jerry rigged" it (or "jury rigged" if you want to be grammatically correct). That's fine if you intend on fixing it the following day or so I suppose. Any how, let's undo the jerry and fix this thing the right way.

Some poor slob named Jerry is sitting at home saying, “I didn’t do it! Why is he picking on me?” Lol….Great job
Right there is what I am talking about. 1 loose screw lead you to problem. Idk luck or skill. I think little of both
!!!
How come ever time he says Jerry, I think of Rick and Morty?
Ohhhh that Dam Jerry?? WTH?? Should have done a fly bye and kept going!! The pattern was FULL!😂😏😏😂 My truth, the more video’s I watch of your work, my respect is amazed on all your hard efforts and honest repairs. Seriously my Dad taught me car repair growing up, he was a lot like you. Common sense fixer and thought about every problem and solution before action!! You TOTALLY ROCK ERIC, your fan club should be huge, people like honesty and C.S. thinkers!!😎😎💪
Impressive troubleshooting!
But Eric, My name is Jerry! Great vid!
I wonder if Jerry has watched this video.
How's king andy doin these days?
You get 5 ⭐🌠⭐🌠⭐ stars for your repair of this vehicle !!!! Saving the customer $$$, and installing 2 new bulbs to get this lady back cruising on the road again !!!! Mrs. O. is so proud of you !!!! Well done, Eric !!!! On to the next one !!!!!
How many times I've spent fixing someone else's "Fixes"…. Good job 👌
I don't Always Jerry Rig, but when I do it is to fix someone else Jerry Rig. Which is true, last one I did was on a 2009 Nissan Altima, Engine was replaced, and they cut wires to remove and replace. Well, a very young mechanic (if you could call him that) decided to use wire nuts to fix them, which didn't fix anything. long story short I had to find all wires and solder them together. The mechanic was 20 at the time and said he was a Diesel Mechanic, which I asked a few diesel questions which he failed them all.
Jerry didn't have the right bulb, and just threw in one that looked like it.
Meh, it's not political. The mom and pops are going the way of the dodo everywhere in every state and people are indeed rude everywhere.
I know I'm a little late to your repair party, but Jerry is friend of mine. So out respect for my Jerry, I sent this video off to Jerry. The purpose was for my Jerry to justify himself. Knowing Jerry as I do, he'll watch half of the video and then just, grunt. An observation, while watching the video; you must have taken typing in highschool. 🦊🇧🇲🇨🇦
Don't be Clark in National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. He found the treee. Dad did you bring a saw? LOL
another joy from the Self Made Auto repair
im concern about jerry.. lol
Great troubleshooting! Contact between unrelated circuits can be a real bear to resolve – happens much less frequently than open circuits or circuits shorted to ground……
I had a bulb's little wire connectors hang up on the copper connectors in the socket pulling them "inside out" if you will. Had to replace the socket…Jerry is a ding dong!
Prime example of some dimwit shlep screwing up someone's car. There's a lot of them out there.
Man!!! I really dig that brake pedal pusher! Too freaking cool, man.
schmutz

dirt or a similar unpleasant substance.
"these handy wipes are always close by for swiping schmutz off my shoes, or cleaning up coffee spills"
Hilarious video. Bravo.
I've seen that light socket scam done several times before to make vulnerable people (usually older folk with low mileage vehicles in good shape and is an easy resell) believe they had major electrical issue and convinced them problem and is worth more than the vehicle.
Its common overseas also.
Can't believe how bad Mechanics have gotten.
👍🏿👍🏿
Your the best!…
Rare soul indeed. Working in a shop myself IM SURE they would have wacked the customer for a new Subaru lamp harness and two hours labor on top of it..Great video Eric ! No ding dongs allowed lol..
Neat channel, good mechanic, talks to himself alot🤣 Pretty cool feel like you meet the family along the way, the other day I rode along with him and his brother in a big wrecker, met his wife Mrs. O and I assume his daughter awhile back she was more mechanically inclined than most boys her age. I feel like anytime soon he's gonna have me over for a beer 🤣
I’ve been watching your YouTube and just noticed you lived near keuka ! So jealous best bass fishing lake in New York
@South Main Auto Repair LLC I had 2 Subaru Outbacks [05, 06] both with rear lighting issues. First would blow lighting fuse everytime headlights were on AND I put it in reverse; second Subaru simply had a basket of lights in rear that wouldn't work. Common problem in both – the wiring that ran thru upper tailgate to lighting and electrical systems in the gate fatigued and broke, exposing bare ends of the wire(s) to make contact with one another allowing for shorts. Had to cut existing wires back into roof and down into gate to splice in new, stranded wire to the existing wiring, so there wouldn't be any splices hanging out in the pinch point of the gate hinge.
Fun language fact: "Jury-rigged" has existed in America since the 1700s, but around the two World Wars, "Jerry-built," as in German made, also became an insult.
Great repair! I would have replaced the whole harness.
I was talking to some one < couple> from Bath New York…they were looking at my Guns at the gun counter. While a couple from Maine who were asking about buying an AR 9mm rifle.. and they were so jealous.. that i could not sell them a rifle…
After watching a bunch of your videos this is the first time I realized you're an hour away from me. Only did because I recognized the junkyard
I really enjoy your videos. Very informative and entertaining as well. Thanks for producing such great content.
It’s guys like Jerry that give our industry a bad name and reputation 😔 Good job as always
It's possible the light bulb 💡 was a cheapie and manufactured incorrectly.
Fix it right the first time ! It'll last much longer !
If it doesn't fit force it and if it brakes it needs replacing anyway.
In HVAC work, I had to create a character in my mind to represent all of the not-so-good techs that I follow up on. I chose, "Joey." Small world.
Don't know how people fix cars for a living, cars are a pain in the ass!
Cut towards your buddy not your body! Lol. Older video. You taught me that.
I like the crimper/stripers your using around the 16 minute mark, know where I can get a set?
You do great videos and "Quips". Like Don't be a Jerry.
Hard to believe Jerry assumed that shorting pins in the connector is a good fix. lol. It was probably a blown bulb in the first place….. lol
And Jerry the wanker said let there be light and there was light..nuf said.
Can't find the videos that has to do with interference with the power steering pump on the fuel pressure sensor. I believe it watch for a Mazda Tribute 2005
you should branch out and buy the ice cream place.
