Customer Customer States Mechanic Fails Engine Transmission Gas Diesel off road race 4x4 street car daily driver scam dealership dealer technician how to
Hello everybody! Good day to you! Welcome back! I Want to do a quick walk around? update on a few things around here and uh, that's what this video is going to be about. A slight departure from the regular style of content because I'm not in the shop working today. we're in the shop cleaning today. we're prepping today.
We are, uh, getting some construction stuff prepped for the garage door to go up and right now I'm kind of buttoning up the tow truck I need to get this thing out of here because this right here will be a work Zone coming up in the future. Uh, but while we're here at the truck, let's just talk about the truck. You guys keep asking about the truck and I have not given you any kind of updates on it. Yes, it's been painted now.
The paint is dirty. It's been hanging out here for a while. We had the mirror stripped off of it. the Plastics the weather strip, the trim, the door panels, the handles, the lights up top don't know what that is, but it kind of ruined my glass.
is that glue looks like we're putting glass in it? Also, yeah, the lights have been off. The impact damage from when the other tow truck ran into it has been repaired. The Hood's been repaired right here. those latches were off.
That's all been repainted as well. The black has not been painted just the uh, the red baboon looking derriere I did go back and repaint the charge, air cooler and the AC condenser because you can still see there was a there was some red over spray on it from the last time it was painted red and I didn't like seeing red behind my my shiny silvery Grille So uh I took this thing back and then painted that inside as well. just a rattle can job. No big deal I've got some of the trim back on over here.
On this side see door handles are not in, the mirrors are back on. that panel is broken I need a new one. The badges need to go back on I need to. Well we got to clean all this off of here.
There's some overspray on the glass. let's see up top the lights have uh, not been installed just yet. We're getting around to it, it's coming together all right. So for now I'm gonna walk around make sure everything is uh clear of this vehicle.
I Need to go ahead and we're gonna pull this truck out from under the awning and get it back out the parking lot. Uh, we're gonna need to use this uh, this space right here coming up in the next couple of days we're a little behind schedule. Uh I need to move this because the garage door is going to be installed fairly soonish. the door is here like not here here.
but the door that was ordered has been delivered and now the guys that are installing the door are going to come out. We have to schedule for them to come out and actually get this door installed. So that being said again, the the truck can't be here because they're going to be here with doors and packages and pallets and crates and forklifts and all this other good stuff. So we need to get this thing out of the way. Let's find our neutral starting the Caterpillar 3126 Diesel with 175 569.2 miles on the odometer beginning engine starting sequence. Now this is alive. Love starting this thing up so it's the coolest. All right.
Tap that door shut a little bit the the door card panels are still removed. They're over here in the passenger seat. I Can put that stuff on later. I Had to get this thing dried in.
It's going to be outside for a while backing up for safety. We're not going far, just straight back straight back into that hole right back there. between the uh, the Corvette and uh, the Subaru which is a waiting for engine arrival backing up all the way back right back in that hole right there. That's good.
I'm gonna fit. Yeah, she fits. That mirror says it fits. Looks good.
That mirror says it fits. Yeah, we're good here. Get her back. As far as preparing here we go.
That's good. Perfect engaging air brakes. Power down. Very nice.
Come here. King Goodbye tow truck. You hang out here for a little while. We'll work on you later so you can see it marks its territory.
That's the wheel lift that's right rear axle seal. Didn't know that was leaking and since it is a old straight six diesel leaking over here too. Fix that stuff later. like how does it leak when it's not running I Don't understand Lucky Duck So back over to the door area.
Got to clear this stuff out but we've got one pillar set up bolted in from the top of the Z Channel Running across other pillar over here that's bolted in, bolts it in at the top of the Z Channel I Have decided to ultimately remove this wall right here and just frame it in. We can see there's kind of a gap going on right there. There's nothing in there except for some, uh, some 2x4. I Had to cut this away farther than I anticipated because there's a flange down here that will need to be bolted on.
so once I tear this away I can run that other bolt in and bolt this thing down from three sides instead of just the two sides like I Have it right now. Yes, I do need more lag bolts in here, but I can do that stuff later. Not a huge problem so let's see what else has changed around here. Oh I got another.
got another light up there hanging out. that one's gonna go right about up here. Where that fluorescent is, it'll match the one that's already over. Yonder So I do have another light that has to go in, but we're at maximum electron drawing capacity in here right now.
I Can't install any more stuff until we install more circuits. Yeah, so we're going to take that box right there and probably eliminate it and put an actual functioning breaker panel in there. Then we'll run new circuits for the Uh for this side of the shop and probably half of this side because I'll need a 240 circuit for the lift we're going to need I want to do at least two 110 circuits, one on each lift post. So that'll be six circuits there so it'll be at least one, two, three more. Breakers So I have a 240 breaker, then three more, four those 110s, these 110s and then these 110s and then I'll put I think Cliff called them contactors where we're gonna put all the lights in the building on two circuits which is going to run off of one switch. So we need a contactor for that. uh, same thing with the fans over here. I've got one fan that just went in.
uh, that other fan over there that's been in and this one is power strip wired. Let's fire this thing up. Look at that. Yeah, that one's power strip wired for now, but that's going to go on its own circuit on a switch with a contactor same as that one over there.
and I think I want to do one more of those fans like right up here somewhere that'll give each stall its own cooling fan. which I think that would be really cool no pun intended. Oh, let's see. I've switched my oil to uh to BG bulk oil.
You guys see that fully synthesized 5W30 Engine oil BG products that's coolant BG coolant that's oil and that's some. uh, it's not Amsoil what is that? Amelie it's a little Emily oil that I had anyway. that's going away also because I'm going to put uh, replace that 520 with the BG 520. That stuff's actually on par with, uh, what you call it Amsoil It's very close to an angel product that doesn't go there.
get rid of you. Yeah, that's trash from when we were installing the fan and whatnot the other day. Yeah, and as of right now we are cleaning and tidying up and preparing to close the shop because I will not be here to conduct business as usual I have some other Affairs to attend to. so we're kind of going to take a little vacation going on here.
Uh, more on that to come later on. I'll tell you guys when we get back. It's not a good idea to tell people that you're gone or you're not somewhere. or you are somewhere while you're not there.
Or when you are there because if anybody was out there that had some kind of a nefarious intentions, you've given them ammunition and information that could be used against you. And and that's not okay. so uh, like rule of life, you know, like you don't post on Facebook that you're going to be in Cancun next Tuesday because then everybody you knows or you know they know that you're not going to be where you're supposed to be and that can put somebody in a position of vulnerability. and nobody wants to be vulnerable, right? You don't want to do that.
That's not a good idea and some of you're going to say, well, Ray you just did that. No I said I'll post this after the security breach has been closed up which is exactly what I'm going to do. What was that? oh, it's you. it's camera is whistling at me.
So then we Mosey on over here to the tool section and we all can see that our uh, our tool area is becoming a little bit more nice and shinier. Got the bench cleaned off Rando sockets are still there. we've got. oh yeah, yeah, look what I did here. So remember this used to be all electronic kind of stuff. testing equipment and diag stuff and whatnot. Well I have a rededicated uh, this this toolbox over here to some diagnostic equipment. There's the lab scope or the boroscope that's an old Tech too.
We're going to get around to using that one of these days. I've got some uh, injector stuff on my Duramax to do and the tech 2 is going to be useful for such things. It's in this one. Yep, here is our butt connectors.
Got an amp meter that doesn't really go in this drawer, but it works. Actually, it really doesn't go in this drawer. It's going to go in this drawer with some testing equipment. it's Klein so you know it's good.
Got some OBD2 testers little one. There little one here will be oh no no, that's the OBD2 that's the digital battery tester. These two check for uh, Ac voltage? not really 12 volt stuff. another battery tester test light, some tapes, pin backing out, tools, battery cleaner.
oh that guy right there that is the uh digital thermal Imager This that's the master breakout kit for connecting meters to pins. shouldn't have showed you guys that because now next time I use a paper clip to check a power and opinion. but like why didn't you use the the thing and I know I'm lazy I know got some zip ties, got some meters an OBD1 tool for reading four trouble codes Snappy snapping on scanner in there. so this will be the Diag slash electrical cart battery cable, heat shrink, crimp connectors or crimp makers.
Yeah! so I think over here what I'll do with this extra space is keep moving stuff over there now. I'll probably put a quarter inch Drive stuff maybe screwdrivers, air tools perhaps? I'm not sure what to do with this section yet. This section Remains The Same quarter inch Drive Little bits E-torxes that don't have a home yet. Some swivels, some screwdrivers beer opener vintage torque wrench this I have this for measuring uh, preload on uh on rear differentials the great preload pinion measuring device 3 8 drawer low profiles those don't go there, those are half inch.
Let's see some sockets I haven't opened yet. Random stuff Five Point Tamper-proof torxes See those five point. Very weird. Those are all the torques and the hexes and the E-torxes gun and some hammers.
It's Milwaukee so you know it's good, right? cliff? Let's see the big box wrenches. All wrenches super turbo rounded off bolt, removing wrenches I got those from bearded Ford Tech for Christmas excellent present. Got some gear wrenches ratcheting open end, odd, multi-angular Snap-on wrenches those are specialty. Got the stubby wrenches missing an 18.
I Have to find that. Let's see you've got the double box end, the ratcheting double box end, the ginormous double box end. Those don't go there, but these things do not fit in any other drawer. These ratcheting swivel head Blue Point Flex Ratchet wrenches those are the best. Have those since like 2001. it's been around for a while. more screwdrivers Flyers Vice grips, adjustables, needle noses, strap wrench or two a couple of those specialty uh wrench devices Anything with a handle that goes in there Overflow What was that? Troy Gravity You good? yeah? What'd you do? Oh You Dropped A power strip. Oh no.
Cliff's not gonna like that. Yeah, let's see an unorganized half inch Drive Drawer: This thing's huge and heavy I Don't really use much of this stuff anymore, but I can't throw tools away. Ah, the puller set. Yeah, these are all pullers for front end work.
Inner tie rod tool that's this guy and the adapters that go with it. Threaded rod for installing crankshaft pulleys on LS Engines Lots of cool stuff. More pullers. It's over here.
Let's see: Driveline Sockets Flaring Tool Impact Gun More pullers. These are crankshaft pulley pullers. Lots of specialty stuff. Oh more screwdrivers.
Those don't even go there. They don't have a home yet. Got some wire strippers, impact stuff. some battery tools this is Overflow Oil filter wrenches, strap wrenches CIS Wheel tools Got a seal remover, chisels Sanders some battery caps soldering tool that it doesn't go there either.
some magnesium and aluminum polish. you never know, never know a need to Polished Let's see what else. Junk drawer that's been a junk drawer for 20 years. Not going to change it.
see more weird wrenches ratcheting little palm finger wrenches Torx Drivers hammers the linear impact drawer all right. See, we've got handheld drivers. Some more specialty stuff. These are some I think triple square sockets for uh European Yep, let's see: Turbo socket set for removing grounded off Fasteners Flex Head Impact Gun I Don't use that often, but when I do I need it foreign I could probably fit more boxes of whatnot in here again.
these are uh, some 12 point sockets that's for Driveline stuff this one I think that's for O2 sensors sure is O2 and oil pressure sending unit sensors. Ah, the master wheel lock removal tool slash kit. Amazing! I've had this since 2015 and haven't lost any of them. How about that? These are for all those special goofy lug nuts that are designed to not be removed without a tool and yet the the vehicles that have those often don't have the tools so we have to have the kit of the tools to remove them.
It's frustrating. Foreign just in case. see while we're at it. it's got a barbecue set, electron torque delivering devices, ring ring it's in here, screwdrivers, pry bars, more torque wrench, some concrete bits that doesn't go there, some duct tape just in case.
more torque wrenches lots more torque wrenches Digital half inch 3, 8 quarter inch analog analog analog empty box and that's a Pittsburgh that thing's junked anymore I don't even know why it's still there. A couple testers vacuum tester, big rivet gun, little rivet guns, trim tools, a little torch set in there Ah, this is cool. A little insert tool for running threaded inserts into things to those right there. You run that into your hole and then you kind of, uh, clamp down on it with the tool and it pulls this and expands it. kind of like a uh, kind of like a rivet except the inside is threaded and then you can install a bolt. Very fancy. Oh Doyle rules. and in the bottom that's a sort of vacant space got a receiver, dryer regulator for the compressor that I have it installed, caulk gun and a lot of the stuff that was in these drawers ended up becoming unboxed and going into this cabinet.
which again, that's all. specialty tools. brake caliper, tools, hose adapters, slide hammers. hmm that's that.
Doesn't go there. Some construction equipment. there's the uh. the load tester for batteries.
that guy's back there. floor mats those are good thread repair kit down there. never really use that I just weld it. There's a lot of stuff going on that's kind of a Oh AC system kit right here.
Yeah, that's the uh. that's the rundown on the tool selection kit or tool selection. Let's see, we've got a creeper step, ladder, foam pad for crawling around on the floor. All kinds of good stuff.
Drop Lights have moved over here to this section for charging so any of the rechargeable work lights those are going over here. Power Washer Parts Washer The parts washer died the pump. just it pumped like one day and then it stopped pumping. So I have a parts washer guys I Just I Don't use it because it's junk I Guess while we're doing a tool tour, we'll uh, we'll go back to the other side of the building.
It's got some roll carts. uh another Troy transmission. We're gonna see if this one is this one. go in the green Jeep or the or the blue Jeep Is this the blue? Jeep Yeah yeah, okay, that goes in there.
that's for the blue Jeep because the other the blue Jeep has a very nasty tail shaft seal leak now. Uh, we put a seal in it but it's still leaking everywhere. Um, we're thinking it's got a smoke bushing or something inside and it's causing excessive play in the tail shaft and that's causing that to leak. So uh, Troy got a really good deal on this one.
We're going to try this transmission. see if this thing works. Maybe it will I I Hope it will. maybe it won't I don't know.
Got some fuel cans smoke machine AC machine brake fluid exchange machine Driveline machine transmission machine electron metal melding machine transmission jack engine stand European oil change device battery charger, brake lathe that I haven't really set up yet and a engine for a Mazda Miata that's blown up I Still don't know what to do with that thing. What do you guys think? should I do something with this or just throw it away? Let me know, in the comment section down below you guys have seen the bench with the Vise and the grinder, some other tools. Yeah! I Used to have a lot of space and now it's full of my stuff running out of space. I Need a bigger shop? Definitely need a bigger shop. So all right guys. Well, that's uh, pretty much the tour of it. Oh, pressure washer and compressor and that's I'm working on that pressure washer. It does not run.
but yeah, anyway, that's uh. that's pretty much the gist of it so far. That's where we've come. Like I said we're closing down or uh, by the time you see this, we will have reopened.
but uh, we're closing down I'm taking some time off. need a break? We have some things to do that's not work related. So that being said, I'm gonna go ahead close this video out right now. As always I will do such things by thanking all of you guys for watching this video.
Hope you enjoyed this. uh this. I don't even know what this video was about. but I Hope you enjoyed it as always.
If you enjoyed watching this video or anything about this video, please feel free to let me know about that in the comment section down below. Drop me a like button while you're down there. And most importantly, do not forget to have yourselves a great day. See you guys later! I'm closing up.
We're going home. have a great day, have a great weekend, Great afternoon, great time off. Great day at work. Doesn't matter what you're doing, just be great while you're doing it.
End of transmission.
I would need ID labels on the draws
Ohdoil rules lmao!
One should also not disclose your security measures, cameras ect . I have to laugh at people on Youtube who announce that they are carrying. Doing so just gave the bad guy the upper hand.
i get here solely because i like to see things get fixed thats the theme of things . try a change . get that motorbike back on the road
how about solar cell those lights and fans?
Nice Wiha nutdrivers there! Just the thing for hose clamps.
The security system was listening and went off on cue right after you finished you spiel about security. 😁
When did he get employee's
Nice color
"CANCUN"!!!!
People are getting kidnapped and shot there!
Best to go to Canada and enjoy the summer there swimming in a nice pristine crystal clear lake and trout fishing/camping in the dense woods looking for Bigfoot and UFO aliens.
Ha! I just bought the same Topdon BT100 battery tester you have in you testing equipment drawer. Scotty recommended it for the home garage.
Way to go Ray , one thing I don't see is the automatic oil feeder?
Tell them the dog stays at work
That grill needs to be black, Ray. Do it! And contactors are the same thing as a relay, just capable of more amps, both just fancy switches.
Send the Miata engine over to Eric for a teardown 😀
sniff it's so rewarding to see he's actually assembled the over the top creeper.
Don't know if you have time to read all the comments you get but hope you see this. You need to buy a set of Carbide drill bits. Forget, cobalt, titanium and all the others. If you want to drill through tough metal Carbide is the only way to go. Yes they're expensive but we'll worth the cost. 36 years in aircraft industry I've had to drill through titanium and Monel two of the hardest metals there are. Spend the money and buy some Carbide bits.
It may have been mentioned already but to me those spots on the side windows of the rollback look like somebody sandblasted around the mirror mounting holes while the window was rolled down in the door. I may or may not have done the same thing a couple of times over the years to know what that would look like.
All these tools, the Snap On Diagnostic gets the penthouse by itself in the newest toolbox. Fav Ray?
tyres are a bit skinny. enjoy your break . think you might be overdue .
Great shop. You're really doing a great job of putting it together. I'm excited for you!
Still on I got a message that you tube wasn't allowing u to post any more videos. Because of something the police were involved with at your home. I guess not.
Have a good break
When are you going to take a damn vacation dude?
Watching Ray go through his drawers 😲
Ford tow trucks work alot better, but there is a better looking hood that came on those GM piles of garbage, more square..
I would love to get details on paint job with rattle can. Brand, application and prep.
that bit about the breakout kit vs the paper clip made me laugh…. if given the choice i will usually use a paper clip as well.
What, no banks modifications to rollback?
Hi ray. Just wanted to check in all the way from Aberdeen in Scotland.😊
Hey Ray, did you end up buying the shop since you have been doing all the modifications?
Have a break. Service the wife.
With some r and r
You should have someone 3 d your triple r logo to put on your hood badges.😊🎉 f j b 😊
Hope you enjoy your time off! Don't know if anyone suggested it, but could see if I Do Cars wants the engine and could sell it at cost of shipping. Maybe he will tear it down for a video.
did you get a new job? all the videos i use to watch were at a different location.
The Tech2 with the CANDi module is definitely useful… but for the newer vehicles that the Tech2 won't work on, a MDI2 would be good to have on hand…. The downside being the Tech2 is standalone, but you need a subscription to use the MDI2 for diagnostics… which sucks in my opinion…
will miss your video's thanks for your time and enjoy yourself Bill N LI NY
Enjoy your time away and we'll see ya when ya get back here ❤
where are you going to setup the front end machine?
heat gun belongs with electrical repair tools lol
UpChurch !!
you showed us the master jumper kit couple months ago when you thought you had a electrical issue to the fuel system
😱”OH NO” packing your bags to go! That forces me to pack my bags and head north to “Eric O”. I hear his wife unit makes great coffee. She has the best “rust jacking” on YouTube. It’s an acquired taste. 😋 Mrs. O’s world famous coffee and glazed “rust jacking” umm. Can’t wait. Take your time coming back. Have a safe trip. 😂
I just love how far things have come, back when I started watching Ray was working in someone else's shop and now not only does he have his own, but he's having to expand it to have enough space for the amount of work he is getting
Who's Monte carlo is that?
Everyone needs a break 😊 Shop looks good and organised.
The poor keyboard warriors are going to be board. Love watching what you do , it’s great for finding issues & problem solving.
Enjoy your break we will be hear when you get back . What you have accomplished in the past 12 months is beyond belief
take a break bro…take care
Send the Miata engine to I do Cars he is a cool guy great youtuber
Take a break, man, and recharge. From us older guys and gals, we will be the first to tell you life is too short. One day, your kid are in grade school, and the next thing you know, they have started their own lives.
Love all your videos. Ignore the framing haters you are doing a great job. One suggestion : Why not Blackout the grill on the tow truck. It would look great. I’ve learned a lot from your videos very educational
She'sa looka nice, boy!!! d;o)
As to the Miata engine…go cart. Need I further elucidate? d=O)
Duct tape = Manitoba Chrome !!! !!! !!!
Ever been to Manitoba, you'd understand why…
Tear down the Mazda engine and rebuild it. You have amateur racing there? Build a race car!
You are going to have to make a map to where everything is!😲😲
Don't show all your bootie. Some dick will come and steal it. Well it is Florida, so guns guns guns.
Enjoy the time off !!
Cya soon
Tow truck is looking sweet Ray… hope all is well
Throw it away
Enjoy the break, assuming the 'stuff' will be enjoyable that is! 🙂
Looking good 👍
Nice tool boxes Ray….I just purchased some nice tool boxes like yours 'fer all my stuff….I got the blue like yours 'ta match my vehicle lift…..Try'n 't color coordinate all the new stuff. By the way, Nice color for the wrecker….Looks Like GM Saratoga Silver……
Enclose the shed area for more space
Enjoy your time off. I need a vacation as well…..
Since I retired I have to be careful about doing something "later". Sometimes "later" turns into quit a spell. 😃
Have a good break, hope to see you back soon
thankyou Ray,its always a pleasure getting a workshop update,,im sure you had a cracking family break,,see you in the next one,,👌👍
The mx5 engine , you should do an 'I do cars ' style engine teardown … but send it to Eric to upload 👍
With the engine if you don't have plans for it you could always reach out to your local trade school and see about donating it to help students learn with it
You have inspired me to properly reorganize my toolbox 👍🍻
used to watch daily. now I check in and skip forward thru vids every 3 or 4 days. no real point in watching daily currenlty. assume you are taking a few days off. good. maybe you can come back and not jeep or fl;uid change fucking everything and suck it up.
Are you gonna get a phone that goes DOOO DAHHH DOOO !!!!!? lol 😅
👍👍
👍
Send the blown up Mazda engine to "I Do Cars" – he does engine teardowns. Very educational.
Ok Ray. LOL! First. Great video
2. Damn you. 😂 I dont have enough tools. 😅
3. You gonna put an alignment rack in?
Take a break brother………
There is something I find very satisfying about a big block diesel not even breaking a sweat moving a truck.
Have a great holiday. You deserve it for sure
Frogs like using rivettes
The Doyle tool, those are Rivnuts, I used those for years working in a metal shop, ours used pneumatic guns to set them, but same concept.
What happens to your recently hired apprentice while your off.?
As a Cop of 32, year's and a gearhead, I enjoyed the tour of your tools. That being said bad Idea. Unless you have 24-7 security someone is going to whipe you out. 2020hrs thurs
I've always found your videos informative and entertaining, and I hope you're back soon. Enjoy the time off!!
Amazing how far you've come since the leaving your old work video – you've been rocking along man. 🤘🤘
Hope you had a great trip. Welcome Back.
HEYYY,RAY when you got the door guys there have them flip you're outside door leading to the office so won't be a problem anymore when you pull into the shop 👍😀

great assortment of tools! when you need a tool, you need it. it makes it so much easier getting it done.
have a safe what ever you do and recharge your batteries! good luck! take care.
Whatevs…
Haha, the drawer of unorganized sockets. That reminds me of the toolbox that my dad has had for quite some time, of which the tray portion of it that you can pull out, has a bunch of older sockets of his. And non of them organized. I kid you not, I had to spend a couple of minutes just to find the right socket size for a bolt/nut on the wallmounted arm thing for the tv in the living room. (of which is heavy of course, for both the tv and the arm thing it's mounted too, the arm is made out of steel I bet, and the tv well… It's just huge.)
Send that Miata engine to Eric at I Do Cars?
With having another worker and that you are changing your setup, you should start labelling items. I can't tell you how often I have needed to open up a case to figure out where something was and I have like 5% of the cases as you. Plus you can label drawers to aid in quick find and return of tools.
I think you should give the Miata engine to the “I do cars” YT Channel guy. It’d be a pity to throw it away when it could serve as entertainment (i.e. teardown video)! 😅
you forgot the most important tool … TOILET PAPER!
You have done well since you went independent. Just what Ray and family needed 👍
NICE PAINT JOB…👍🇺🇸💪🙋🕊👈🫡
