Hi Ray. Shout out the name and make of the wrenches you used on this job please. They could come in handy.
The problem is the nut behind the wheel
Do you know the puddles in the bed was a good joke
😂💯✊💕🍀☮️🛠
They’ll be puddles in the bed the weatherman said!!!!
The ground or the starter or the battery terminals
Something got wet that shouldn’t of I know that much maybe the line go onto this crowned or the starter
I am sitting here laughing my butt off remembering the last time i replaced the serpentine belt in my truck, and realizing that i am not the only one who had a horrible experience doing that job!!!
Those belts are always fun to fit😁
Call out for PEETEER!
H2O = Di-hydrogen monoxide.
HO2 = Hydrogen dioxide, a chemical radical that cleans ozone depleting chemicals (ODCs) like R-12
That was a tough one for just a belt.. wow not a user friendly vehicle. nice job Ray !
Water is a perfect lubricant for rubber
Belt slipped
Overhead hoists require regular inspections.
At least a annual inspection (OSHA).
To replace a hoist cable (any load bearing componet) will require a load test.
Most hoist operstors manuals shpuld have a monthly inspection check-list.
OSHA will always wsnt to see your hoist inspection documentation.
Curious as to why the factory thought a 6" hole in the splash shield was a good idea just in case somebody needed to mechanically turn the crank pulley. The entire shield comes off with just 4 – 10mm bolts. Or how about a small removable cover over that peek-a-boo hole? Even duct tape over the hole would keep water off the belt.
And here I thought you were going to end the video with cleaning that grease off the left door handle. 🙂
At exactly one minute into this I am going to comment. I own a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan. I am guessing the tensioner is going out or it is a bad belt. If you also own a similar year model Dodge Caravan or Grand Caravan (or Town & Country I am sure) you will understand why I guess this. I parked mine about 7yrs ago. It sits there now gathering tree sap. In the about 6 or 7yrs I drove it I put 12 tensioners on it and about 14 belts. In one year alone I put 4 on it. A flaw of design they say. Nothing can fix it other than just keep putting new on it when the belt starts jumping off at the slightest hint of moisture and that includes very humid days. I always had a tensioner fund just waiting for when it needed another one. Other than the tensioner it was a very dependable van that never gave me one moment of issue, other than the tensioner.
May be un-necessary, but if it were my vehicle, I would also want the idlers replaced…..so all parts would be new at once!!
That pully stopping its whining when you told it to was hilarious 🤣
Di-hydrogen monoxide
I have not wqorked on cars since my teens (now almost 77) but some things you never forget. My wife'd Toyota Vios needed a serpentine belt, how hard can it be? Hahaha – like your job the tensioner when I finally got it to full reverse still did not allow the belt to go om. Just tantalisingly half way. So old trick – get it on/around all pulleys except crank pulley on which it onbly wqent half way, got wife to hit starter button momentarily. So long as it is on the right half of the crank pulley instant sucess, belt on. Alternative for you would have been as you were holding it mostly on, large wrench on craqnk pulley bolt and simply wind it on by turning the lpulley. We old codger's were into kerbside bodge-ups while you were still an evil gleam in your dad's eyes lol/ Love your vids though, keep it up.
hey, 😶 try looking at the belt diagram…🤫
The belt
Hydrigen Dioxide? I think not. If it was Hydrogen Dioxide, it would be heavy water, the material sunk by the Norwegieans to keep it from the Germans who wanted to use it in an effort to make a fission bomb. Water is Hydrogen Oxide, or possibly more technically Dihydrogen Oxide.
I shim the pulley with a piece of wood so it doesn’t damage then I can pull tight
You really put it through the flood test huh, I didn't see you clean the handle on the door. Haha
Do you own the shop?
Belt issue or short
Short
The tensioner will fit other models and engines
You really shouldn't wear your wedding band while working. Have you ever seen fingers ripped out of the hand, after the ring got caught on something? Wear a silicone band instead.
Didn't you guys just get a hurricane down there?
"When driving through a hurricane the powerstearing will go out and the battery light comes on."
Usually there is a belt routing diagram on the front under the hood or on the bottom of the hood!
Wet belt slipping bad tension pully possibly
That's exactly what would happen with my 07' Corolla. Almost didn't matter what size puddle. Funny thing is, shop said "NAH" to the belt and tensioner.
Of course, the serpentine belt. They should stop driving in puddles, that will fix it.
Hyundai, always finding a way to make simple repairs not so simple.
"Belt looks okaaaay." Well yeah, you just cleaned it 😉
Im not going to judge because im not too familiar with the jointed sockets but is it right to final torque with them?
Slip belt over tensioner last.
That phone ringing was cracking me up tonight There was a lot of doodoolie doos happening.
I was going to let you know what the problem in comments section but I don't know where to send my consultation fee
Has to be a belt issue.
I ran into this I ended up changing the power steering belt and the alternator belt they were pretty stretched out and cleaned the up the pullies with break clean i did noticed that a few coolent hoses were leaking and I replaced the hose clamps afterwards she never had a problem it's the same make vehicle but just a different model
'Bravo Foxtrot Juliet Mike' Someone's been studying airplane stuff 🙂
Fuse
I had no idea a serpentine belt could slip so badly. Break yes, but not slip like that.
The auto obeys your commands😂😂😂
I've never seen a belt slip that easily. I thought some of the pulleys/bearings were stiff too.
Tight squeeze Ray
old serpintine belt
"Undisclosed amount of time later" … but it sounds like the same song in the background. ;D
My first guess is possibly the computer
i'm assuming it's ok to spray water over the engine like at the end? Somebody told me once no to do that, water can get in places it shouldn't and short something out or do damage. yet i've had others tell me they pressure wash their engine compartment with no problems so i'm wondering, was that just an older issue and engines are more water tight now?
Survey says, ding ding ding it's a belt, possible tensioner.
Hah … "Do you know what the problem is?"
Uh, Ray … I drive a 97 Jeep with a 4.0. I'm intimately familiar with what causes that problem, and so is every single other person that drives such a vehicle.
(the #1 mistake people make is not properly tensioning that belt, as Jeeps of that vintage don't have an auto tensioner)
Pretty sure you're not supposed to wash the car while it's running
After I made the first comment now I see you watc washing the engine down a chance of blowing something electrical you just spread it everywhere what's wrong with you
slipping drive belts due to water thats why it was making such a racket
"Stop it. Stop it right now!" The power of Ray compels you!
Glad I saw this, we own a 2012 Santa Fe AWD with the 4 Cyl DOHC engine with 90K miles, this procedure is nice to know.
Why did you put on the belt that way there's the couple tensioner bolts losing those suckers up and the pulley would have came a little closer together and you just slip it on the belt with the ealse and then you tighten the bolts back up and it pulls the tensioner in the pulley would go right into either decreasing or increase in the slack in the belt you didn't bother the detention adjustment bolts at all for adjustment you just slipped it on that's not good that's probably the second belt that was put on there the mechanic before you did the same thing and so the belt is inappropriately tensioned it's not adjusted right so I guess the belt on this will start doing the same crap again eventually
Loosen the alternator?
Belt gets wet
look at belt sticker… before u finish putting it together and test before u fully assemble it…
look at belt diagram…. or take pic before u take it off… 😎
Hydrogen dioxide? I know of H2O (water) and H2O2 (peroxide). I don't think HO2 would be creatable. H-atoms have one bond and O-atoms have two bonds. There is no configuration of HO2 possible where all available bonds are fulfilled, which is a requirement of chemical substances.
RAY ASKS. "GUYS, WHAT DO I DO ?" SMARTASS OFFERS A HAMMER SUGGESTING TO JUST HAMMER IT.
Damn Ray….been there! I know you were cussing that belt under your breath! Hate them things! Was a piece of cake on my Crown Vic though!
The CRM in the part number stands for Chrome Moly.
First thought, is a loose belt.
It’s the damn blinker fluid
If OSHA sees this video someone will be in boiling water. That lift should be locked out so it will not function. In addition, and this is a fact. If a worker had the misfortune to be killed by that lift, the owner of the place will end up behind bars. You are a smart guy, WTF are you doing?
Engine a little hot. Try splashing water on it.😊
how big of a puddle did they hit?
ball joint is burnt
$20-80,000 for a new car, and the mfg can't afford TWO belts instead of that stupid serepantine POS ???
Serpitine belts, weak tensioner.
Engineering design car to break , nothing wrong with the old style adjustment bolt pulley . Now they make more moneys so the consumer paid more
Righty loosely, lefty tighty
Sinister threaded!
Hyundai, funday!
I put a block of wood between the tensioner pulley and the lower pulley to keep the tensioner from moving while tightening the bolt . Hey Ray , you wondered what the metal temp sensor was on a Chevy van . I had a 72 Caddy with a 472 engine , that same sensor screwed into an unused bolt hole in the back of a cylinder head . It was to inhibit heat , defrost until it sensed enough heat in the engine to prevent cold air flow from the vents . I looked this up in one of my many Cadillac manuals I inherited. Carry on my friend .
Car wash station? Buah ha ha
The ending reminds me of the last time I brought my car in for tires. I was sitting in the waiting area and I hear “AH F@UK! WHAT THE H@LL!” followed by a crowd of giggles. Then there was more laughter and yelps and remarks like “QUIT IT!”. I cleaned out and detailed my interior before taking it there, but I forgot I left my fly swatter bug zapper racket in the rear passenger seat 💀
It needs a new underside splash guard.
Defective carbon unit at the wheel.
probly also needs a engine as per the norm with hyundais
I told you that you were turning it the wrong way but you didn't listen.
Lately, every time I turn off my truck’s engine, I find myself making the sound, “beeeeeoooo”!”. Methinks I need to stop watching so many of Ray’s vid’s
Engineers always apply a factor of safety to account for certain situations such as frayed cables
That cable was broken, it was only frayed! 😉
Haven’t not finished the video pauses at the time you asked owning a 2011 Kia cerato SX has the same motor next time grab a stretch belt tool and hold the tensioner as far back as you can and turn the crank pulley to slip it on that’s what I had to do when I replaced my alternator and reused the same belt because it was brand new at the time only a couple weeks old
look up Rufford Ford Fail on YT. There is one serious puddle. Wet belts are the least of their (self inflicted) problems.
Hey Ray, what setup on your truck do you have for your rear view mirror/camera? Thanks in advance! Enjoy all of your videos! I wish I was closer to get my car personally serviced by you.
instead of signage ''do not use. broken cable.'' try ''damaged cable. don't die using this (OSHA approved?) lift,''
