In this video I run through my diagnostic process of "find the break" in a circuit. This is usually a pretty simple task of simple logically breaking down the diagram and coming up with a plan then executing that plan. Let's see what it could look like. -Enjoy!

Finding cats or… 🤔
Question hopefully someone will see. O said you can buy a 3 day subscription to GM for a nominal fee. Cool. Can you download and/or print the schematics during that timeframe? Do they have a limit on how many you can download / print ? TIA
Your just too dam good !
As I moved around the dealer business for 44 years there may have been 10 techs I trusted with my cars. Eric, you are THE MAN. You have also cost me a lot of money in retirement buying the scan tools I need as I no longer have access to them for free.
Thank you so much for what you do.
Good job sparky
Listing sucks
Excellent mechanic
Me maw must be the saint of car mechanics
I miss my sisters E-Z bake oven. Good times as a kid. Thanks for the years of good tech advice.
HI IHAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY ENVOY 2002 IT RUNS TURNS ON AND WHEN IM DRIVING MY CLUSTER TURN OFF AND THE CAR KEEPS RUNING CAN YOU HELP ME WITH IT I CHECK ALL THE GROUNDS AND NOTHING HAPEND?
Scanner Danner got nothing on you man.
Great Find, open white wire, buried in the spaghettis of wiring pasta!
Stuff like that is exactly why I have a trusted mechanic to take my vehicles to… Good job Eric O…..
Those tires are so bald lol
Mr. O, I've got an 01 GMC that came from a Large tree company and their Jerrys butchered the wiring. (Go figure) I've been soldering, shrink tubing, taping and then coating the repairs with flex seal. Stuff is way better than liquid electrical tape!
You colored them and they went in the oven and shrank.
In addition to being a great teacher showing how to use process of elimination logic, I love your commentary! It's a great combination to have to be a successful channel. I am a low voltage security technician that works on many types of systems and I use the same process. Sometimes you need to just step back and look at the big picture to find your problem. Great video Erik!
Good job man.
You make it seem easy.
Sorry, I can't afford logic. We're just going to go ahead and replace the ECM, the PCM, the BCM, the Purge solenoid, 02 sensors, MAF, and juuuussst to be safe, we're go ahead and replace the head gasket and top off the wiper fluid.
Oh yeah ,
Really like what you said about how you can find anything on web.
If you pay for it. Been trying to find wiring schematics for my truck. It always says download for free. Until you click on it. LoL.
Your pretty cool. To the point , didn't ramble on for fifteen minutes , giving complete history of how it came to be. LoL .
Thank you for your teaching you rock
Stupid curiosity, since a large number of common folk won't have the fancy tablet to turn the evap system on and off, would it be efficient to just do a continuity test between the two connectors?
Hav yet to find a mechanic such as yourself for this
2016 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD Duramax
Man O man
I’ve purchased a truck an literally drove from one driveway to the next. That’s been about two months now an have yet drive the truck I purchased
These emissions laws are killing me
This 2016 Chevy Duramax just isn’t happy
Engine light and def light are on intermittently…..😤😤🥴🥴
You are a great teacher 👨🔬 THANK YOU 😊
Hey, I resemble that scumbag mechanic remark! haha!
I will have you know I resemble a "Scumbag Mechanic " ! 🙂
I don't have a fancy scanner, nor the knowledge to utilize one, but a simple multimeter could've found the continuity break.
Eric my question is what caused this car to not pass your states test? The spare tire not current? That would be really socialist inspired or the spare tire flat? Guess I will have to watch again to find out your state's silly rules probably put in force because of ruining cars with salt.
Quick question if the spare tire comes down and wouldnt it be a good idea to lube the unit to at least keep the unit working as it is.
Best path to the truth of the issue at hand seek and find and repair the problem test and prove your repairs
Yeah it sure would be fun
😃nice catch
Excellent video!, However could you post the link for the 3, day subscription for GM vehicle diagram information?
Re: "poking the wire" to test a shorter section, do you then have to use "liquid insulation" to repair the hole? I have used a drop of Gorilla glue for that.. Is that ok? Please say yes, because I can't find any other use for that stuff. lol
Love all your videos! Years ago, I remember diagnosing an intermittent no start on a VW Rabbit that had the fixed upper seat belt anchor (It was a 2 door). There was a broken wire in the door jamb harness that would touch together at odd times. Another complaint was a thumping noise going over bumps. That was a broken rubber strap that was supposed to hold the jack up against the spare tire. “There’s your problem lady!”
Another great educational video by Mr O. Thanks. Enjoy the commentary
You followed my process… start at the non operating device/part and move toward the control/power supply. I like the quality of your repairs…. and the logic. Good on ya.
Great Work!! Watching from Brazil and learning a lot
Blazers are the gift that just keeps giving.
Should the Mechanic charge for the diagram subscription on a per job basis or include the costs in his diagnostic labour rate?
Great tip on the hot fuel returning to tank!
I can just barely follow you, even though I an a long-time retired Tech, familiar with OBD2 systems. May I suggest that you take things a little more slowly for those not up to that level?
Patience, and very extravagant explanation, as suggested in your son's vids, pertain here as well as there.
All the best, RIBob
Hey Eric, do you think it would have been much easier to use a Extech 40180 Tone Generator and Amplifier Probe Circuit Finder Kit to find that broken wire along that section of loom running to the back of the truck?
Looks like they're going to need the money saved on the vent valve for new tires pretty darn quick.
We all say our" sister had one" nice try brother
Eric sell this bloke (customer) some new tyres (tires).
My wife has a 95 blazer 4.3 we definitely have replaced a few items or I have over the years new shackles in the back brake lines and gas lines condenser and compressor but it all still runs pretty good everything works like it should I think they made him pretty good back then considering I live in the Rust Belt
When she turns off the ignition and parks it it always smells like gas fumes at the back and I’m pretty sure it’s the cell annoyed vent but they say you have to drop the gas tank and I just don’t want to do that I don’t smell like gas for too long she just drives back-and-forth to work but 160,000
