In this video I show you how to hook up the smoke machine to your 2002 Dodge Stratus and locate a leak. This vehicle did not take much time at all to locate the leak. I hope you still enjoy it and I hope to produce some more in depth explanations of the EVAP system and its function at a later date. Thanks for watching!
Good quick video Eric O @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
Did you repair the filler neck or you just leave it as is? Is it a "big deal" if you leave it like that?
Seems like you are a cool dude and good mechanic. Thanks for the video.
You never fail to inform thanks for another great one.👍
This 6 year old video looks like an audition tape (or hostage video) compared to today's era videos. 🤣
What autel are you using to run active test. My 808 is supposed to but hasnt worked on a single car from gm Ford to Honda or suzuki.
What a total waste of time and money. Pay someone to find a leak in something that doesn't/shouldn't keep a vehicle from running. It leaks a little vapor into the air 🙄🙄 Oh gees.
"But the environment"! What is the effect on the environment from building and making these components in the first place, let alone making the diagnostic equipment to find the leaks, and the replacement parts, delivery of said parts, etc etc etc. Most likey way more 'damage' than the vapor causes anyway.
WoW! I just did a double take there…. Eric didn't have any grey!!!! Then i checked the upload date….. My how time flies!!!
Ironically I saw a hole on my filler neck too and just got a small evap leak code recently too. Would have never thought that might possibly be the cause of it. Very helpful!
What's with the proper english, where's the brake cleaner? Looks like a podperson invaded Mr O and made SMA videos
I wonder if I can try this with a cigar…lol
Smoke machines are GREAT! So's this Video. Right now I don't need one, but I wish I had one here.
Thanks for the video.
Hello, I watch your channel often! I smoke tested a 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.8 engine. I noticed smoke coming from the EGR body. Is that normal? The van has a slight rough idle.
I have a check engine code on 2004 Dodge Stratus for a minor leak and with a home made smoke detector, and with the help of this video, saw very minor amount of smoke coming out of smoke detection pump. To be absolutely sure as to not order something that I have to pay return shipping for, do I need to replace just the pump? Many thanks for this video.
A video on NVLD would be a hit, can't find a decent flow of diagnosis video anywhere
how much psi comes out of smoke machine and at what volume?
Thank you so much for your informative video. I'm just about ready to hook up my smoke machine onto my daughter's 2003 Dodge Stratus. The key points that I took away from your video is: 1. Where to inject the smoke and 2. What needs to be pinched off before attaching my homemade smoke machine. Now to leave thanks to the youtube video from who i modeled my homemade smoke machine from. It's kind of cool, because it also incorporates a calibrated homemade manometer that has a reference point for a 0.020' leak. Mine will also have a calibrated point for a 0.040| leak. These are the two leak amount points that should set off each of the two codes: small and large Evap leak.
Great video. The hose that you clamped on the charcoal canister, when you say vent, is it the hose that goes to the unit that allows air into the system to fill the tank with air as gas is used? I see three hoses, I assume one goes to he gas tank, one goes to the front of the car to the purge valve, and the third is this vent you are talking about?
So I know that I have to replace the fuel filler neck on my vehicle, but the shop also said something about replacing the evaporative canister. Do you feel that is necessary?
What kind of smoke machine are you using ?
Made my home-made smoke machine with a Halloween smoke machine and a couple of rubber hoses. Works well and cost about 35 bucks.
Doesn't matter what the vehicle, they always seem to get an arm and a leg for a filler neck.
hope we get to see the install of the part
