This is a short video describing how to "flash" the codes out of your late model Dodge, Chrysler or Jeep. I could leave a lengthy list of what vehicles this works on but it is easier to say this doesn't work on all models and the easiest way to find out is to try it.

This was supposed to be engine light flash codes..not odometer read out codes…it doesn't help me
Helped ! Thanks
I have an 03 dakota. Did it your way got nothing. Then did it again. Just stuck in the key turned it to RUN but did not start it. The check engine light flashed 10 or 11 times but produced no code.
Is this on new Chryslers as well ?
Pre-95, same procedure, count flashes of MIL. Last code will always be 5-5. Great feature, typical Chrysler "Extra Care in Engineering".
I have a 2005 will this work on it?
Yeah nice- but- my engine light is on, i did the key thing and it says no problem- no code. What now?
WHAT happens when you depress the trip mile button??
Good tiP my engine lite isnt on… but every now then, my engine lite turns on when im driving fast and crazy for a few hours.. i think the lite comes on jus to say CHILL THA FUK OUT YOUR ABUSING ME, and then i chill, and within a couple days the lite turns off, its been like this for 3 years of owning the car. … and i never had an engine problem on my '06 R/T… But im curious, next time i see the lite, im gonna try the technique u shared… and again, thanks for sharing 😊
Cel on I did the key thing came up po700. Put scanner on read no codes??🤷♀️ 1999 jeep grand Cherokee 4.7 v8 awd
My engine light flashes
No code showed up but DONE did. Also noticed I had a burnt out brake light but do not know if that would cause my dash lights to flicker
On my 2005 grand caravan, all i have to do is (with no keys in ignition) hold down the trip reset button until i see "SoF 6.3" (or something like that, its always SoF followed by some number), then let go of the button. Any codes will flash and all gauges will start to freak out and all idiot lights will flash. This will cure your speedometer problem if the needle ends up on the wrong side of the peg.
I tried this on my beautiful '99 Chrysler LHS and it worked. Thanks for the tip.
Just take it to O'Reilly's or Autozone and they'll check it out for you for FREE and Print out a report. And since you're there, they can provide an estimate for parts if they have/sell them.🙂
2012 compass?
I had a car come in to my bay. The work order said read code only so it's a minimum ticket the customer does not want it diagnosed. I go to his truck with nothing more than pen and paper between jobs. I got in read and recorded the codes then cleared them. After that I turned in the work order to the office completed. I didn't know the customer was watching. He gets all hot about where was the scan tool. I tell him just to retrieve codes I don't need one. I did give the code definitions with the codes.
He drives off the light returns and h's all mad… reading and clearing the codes does not fix the truck. He was looking for the minimum charge of half an hour… Not a repair.
He comes to the realization his truck is not a 64 chevy.
Please help my 03’ PT will not start, no codes, engine light flashes on and off 10 times, alternator, radiator, battery, timing all new, it want start
Thanks for the tip.
How do I reset check engine light
I tried that. Didn't work. Should the car be in park?. Or neutral?. In park it did not work. 08 charger 3.5
2008 dodge avenger i tried but not working for me is it my model i have that causes the cde not to display
Why does the engine light appear? What should I do after getting the code? (This is my first car so I'm sorry if this is a repetitive/ dumb) question.

POO38 POO52 LAMP ON AND THE HEATER CIRCUIT ,ERIC WERE WOOD I START ERIC
😎! thx! now to find out what p1684 is..!
i didnot know that
ok friend i have jeep liberty 2007 and i dont have a scan tool i have check engine light but i cant get the code even i do that ? how can i get a code please ??
How to get the code/s for Chrysler 1983-1995 vehicles:
Within a period of 5 seconds, cycle the ignition key
ON-OFF-ON-OFF-ON.
1. Count the number of time the MIL (check engine lamp)
on the instrument panel flashes on and off. The number
of flashes represents the trouble code. There is a short
pause between the flashes representing the 1st and 2nd
digits of the code. Longer pauses are used to separate
individual 2-digit trouble code.
An example of a flashed DTC is as follows:
-Lamp flashes 4 times, pauses, then flashes 6 more times.
This denotes a DTC number 46.
-Lamp flashes 5 times, pauses, then flashes 5 more times.
This indicates a DTC number 55.
DTC 55 will always be the last code to be displayed.
thank you…
Just a note, this method won't display all codes. ie. Transmission or other manufacturer codes. Pretty much anything that your actron scanner cant pull, this trick wont work with, at least in my experience.
Another cool dodge etc trick I believe some 2007 up to 2012 I believe double click and hold down the unlock button and your front windows will go down
i'm a Chrysler tech and this is still a feature on some 2015 Chrysler products like the Jeep Patriot/Compass/Wrangler, Caravan/Town&Country and any Chrysler products using the old style EVIC. It dosen't seem to work on new generation of instrument cluster or cars and truck equip with with a FOBIK (push to start ignition)
Does it matter what year?
Forgot to mention.. start with the key in the "run" position..
