I've used fluid film for years its great stuff. I switched over to NHOU after I saw them debute their product at Sema. Either way both work fantastic. Fellow rust belter in eastern PA!
I found out about Fluid Film from the SMA YouTube channel. I used to have my vehicles here in Northwest Ohio hot oiled every year but shops still doing that have become few and far between in the past few years. Fluid Film is the next best thing.
Now, many local stores are also carrying it in aerosol cans so I bought a case of them a few months ago.
I'm guessing you have to take all the plastics off first. Our roads aren't salted so we don't have these sorts of problems. They use an environment friendly solution.
So much easier to wash your hands after getting FF all over whatever part youโre working on than to chisel, heat, snap off, bust knuckles and curse that part
Impressive. Back in the 80s I was on Compuserv, which old timers may remember. there was an auto sections. I remember some author who came into some money that bought a brand new 80s TransAm to treat himself. Had the underside CLEAR COATED. Said it was going to protect it. Anyone ever hear of doing that?
It's good stuff, and works amazing for the rust belt cars. 2018 Subaru Legacy…. 4 NEO winters and no rust to speak of. My guy surface sprays and does "inside" the frame and crevices…. takes a good 1.5 hours (including removing the aero plastics and cleanup after)
One time I had my vehicle filmed early fall when the temps were still hot at a shop that also does inside the body panels in addition to the underside. After a few days it started to get hot again and the sun heated up the film inside the trunk lid dripping down the bumper ruining my plasti-dip I had sprayed there.
The best part is that you can no longer smell the stuff, right Eric? I think you said "the 'rona virus" took away your ability to smell Fluid Film. Sounds like a worthwhile trade-off.
Looked like a really nice Lincoln Towncar? Was it? Its supper clean. That baby can only be as young as a 2011. (last year of production). She's a beaut!
i have black wool wax under my silverado the garden gnomes use it to go skiing the mechanic hates it because its literally everywhere even works good on grandmas hip
Careful SMA, the Peopleโs Republic of New York will soon find you for โprevention of replacement of government mandated exhaust gas reduction partsโ. ๐๐คฃ
There is a 'NEW' product made by PB Blaster, called Surface Shield. It tested better than Fluid Film.

Looks like this stuff is worth its weight in gold. How much is a barrel of it?
My truck has never went above the mason-dixon line. I can't relate.
I'm guessing you have to take all the plastics off first. Our roads aren't salted so we don't have these sorts of problems. They use an environment friendly solution.

I hear cosmoline (spelling?) and CRC Heavy Duty Rust inhibitor works a little better since they dry to a waxy-ish consistency.
Stop putting out useless content in Shorts!!!!

Mandatory prevention in good old New York and other Rust Belt states
Silly ideaโฆ. Could you infuse fluid film with spicy pepper oil to protect from rust and rodents?
Is that the black or the clear
Saving PRNY Vehicles one at a time…..oh yeah๐๐๐จ๐ฆ
Like the old lady in the Frankโs commercial says, I put sh*t that on everything.
First step is admitting your addiction to rust free cars…..fluid film for the win…..or live in FL.
Most fords look like this because of the amount of leaks. Ford -Free Oil Readily Dispensed.
14 year old daily driver, Michigan car, apply this stuff each fall. Only rust underneath is a bit on the pinch welds, works great!

Must be great fun working on cars covered in the film. Slimy! ๐ ๐

Wow, aren't they normally ate up and heading to the scrap yard by that time in your area!
Ooo an oily underside, definitely bad to the bone.
We dont get rust in AZ. I don't even think they teach the meaning of the word in public schools here.

Cool beans and chicken wings! I was wondering if we were going to get a view of the Sienna getting sheep-shined. I guess this will have to do.
