Same exact truck, same problem as I have
I did this on a 2008 Lexus. A head gasket sealer was used some time ago. I belive sludge buildup thank to the driver's side of the heater core. Passenger side had heat but the driver-side did not. So, I used a small 4-7 pounds of pressure water pump to circulate CLR from a 5 gallon bucket and back to the 5-gallon bucket. I let it run 2 hours. That fixed the heater core.
Also, I would like to know where you got the nozzle sometimes that combines water hose water with are on the bottom of the handle?

Dude I see everyone showing a garden hose and tap water, but I was also told no on the tap water because it introduces minerals into the system! Is there a process afterwards? Should you do a distilled water flush? Got a 2007 GL450 and there’s ANOTHER heater core in the rear…. It’s inside a panel in the cargo area… I wonder how I would this….

Chances of breaking the pipe,,, follow the other processes,,like coolent box vent cover loose to gas release ,but carefully,, slowly slowly anti clockwise ,,,and use citric acid or vinegar with salt,,
Where is this shop located?
Last year did this to a ‘16 Ram 3500 with cummins, also put a small block (cardboard) in front of rad , also a plow truck, seems to have worked fine cause didnt hear back about it. Guy is my daughters bf so I see the truck alot.Recommended flushing whole system when plow season over. He talked about trading up to new truck so we didn’t do anything , also decided to not plow again. Come September he began signing up plow contracts. First cold day and snow he said it wasnt as hot again , did the quick flush , lots of sediment but only gained about 10 degrees . All along I told him I wasn’t wanting to pull the dash, im semi-retired and no equipped to do that ( maybe could have let freon out to air) so sent it to a friends shop. He just got the truck back, 3 days it took ( tires as well ) , havent heard about the heat .
I've always put CLR In the core overnight then flush in the morning.

I'm pushing 115° out the vents. Other problem is my engine is not getting over 160° after 35 miles
I told multiple shops I was having these symptoms and all my blend doors work, I get on the lowest fan setting but as soon as I go up on fan speed the air gets cooler. I even had one side ac on and driver side heat and it worked fine separating the two. Just not heat and everyone wants to charge me 2k for hvac care

You are the man. Man I have the 2014 Ram 2500 6.7L Cummings. Up until about 30min ago I had absolutely no heat in the truck. I was lucky enough to get it done with a garden hose with a high pressure tip on it, NO airlines at all. You should've seen the clumps of calcium that came out. I could've sworn that I was going to be pulling the dash out today. So again thank you man for saving me the time and money. I thought I was going to be knee deep into a rats nest of work. To everyone watching and reading this. I highly recommend doing this, its easy, also saves time and money. It took me about 30mins tops..Thank you

This takes 5 minutes to do with $6 worth of hose from the hardware store. A 30 minute instructional videos is a joke.

IR guns use an average emissivity rating for most readings. Plastic, aluminum, steel etc all have different emissivity values and therefore the temperature would vary slightly. Thermocouples use two dissimilar metals to generate a current that is converted into a temperature value
I have to change mine because it was leaking like I would see whips coming out of the dash vents wish me luck on doing that
When I flush a heater core I like to flush it reverse of flow first so that anything that's been pressured into blocking more easily be pushed out

Eric, watched that "other" video where you used the OTC gun. Ordered one! My truck was very marginal last winter. Used the gun and came out with readings very close to yours when done. Also, the initial blast produce some rust colored water. Expect to experience a much warmer winter this year. Thanks for Sharing!
Same year Ram with little to no heat… and coolant smell, but no visible leak on the floor. I am leaning towards having to replace the heater core, but would love for it to be a simpler issue. Thoughts?

Moral: Use pure antifreeze mixed with purified water only.
Bought a van once and the idiot previous owner dumped a bunch of stop leak in the coolant instead of actually fixing a bad hose, it plugged the heater core up pretty bad. A good flush and it worked again, I just probably got lucky it did.
I use a distilled white vinegar 30 minute soak to flush my heater core. Works wonderfully. Of course I throughly flush it with distilled water after the soak.

The probe is reading air temp, the infrared is reading surface temp of the vent plastic
Put a water filter on it.
IR reading can't make up difference of intake temp and difference in temp across vents.
FFS Never reverse flush a coolant system. Coolant is meant to flow one way. When you reverse flow a coolant system all you're doing is stripping layers of the existing copper.
Plugged heater core on a 5-6 year old truck? That seems awfully soon.

What is the best thing to remove rust and mineral deposits burnt into the radiator? Would vinegar work?
FYI: Water boils at a lower temperature as you go up in altitude.
Sounds like she has a air pocket probably needs to be burped so the coolant can get throughout the system
