Lets change out the HVAC (Heater A/C Control) control module in this 2014 Ford Escape that was having some intermittent problems with it quiting and the battery going dead.

Miss the Old days Of Screws a d bolts holding dashes together now it's cheap plastic And plastic clips with metal retainers now Eric O @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
as a ford tech i advise pulling everything as hard as you can that always works for me when i try and be gentle i break shit everytime
Hi Eric, I always enjoy watching your videos (my son turned me on to your site) I have a question for you . We own a 2016 Escape 4 cylinder with a turbo with 80,000+ miles and we have no heat. The temp gauge reads mis range as always. Do you have any ideas what I should look at? Thanks Bob from Binghamton N.Y.
I believe the term you were searching for is "the point of diminishing returns". Good call. Another little saying that comes to mind. Capt. Kirk said it to Spock once, "I trust your guesses more than most people's facts". Thanks for sharing. 😊
I used a hobby hacksaw to cut off the wiper arm's aluminum bushing. Just saw carefully down to the steel post; then use side cutters and needle pliers to twist off the aluminum remains.
The original HVAC control unit probably has cold solder joints, and probably came loose with vibrations and movement.
Wow!!! You actually paid tribute to the late disc jockey, and entertainer Casey Kasem🎙. Thank you for that Dr. O!!!
torque it to factory specs LOL
I hate to do this Eric O. When you call the people who make the windshield install tools they will ask and you will say. "Yes I install windshields and wipers every day. That's what I do to feed my fambilly". It is half true and you can work on your ethics afterwards like lawyers do in ethics class. Remember Obummer was a Constitutional scholar. What the people did not know was he was only studying it to learn the best ways to circumvent and corrupt it.
they sell that wiper arm puller on amazon

Hey southmain auto I have a 2013 escape and sometimes when I turn the ac on the module it doesn’t turn on right away I sometimes move th middle knob from hot to cold and turn the ac button on and off and that’s how I get it to work sometimes do you think it could be the module as well on mine ?
I know its not free but its awesome that you will go to the salvage yard to get a part to fix the the customers car. Would love to have a mechanic like you in California. Really like your work thanks.
I can’t thank you enough! Saved me a ton of time and money. I had the same issue but I was sure from my research that it would be the actuators. Found your video and $20 and 20 minutes later, ice cold air that comes out of their proper vents now. You’re the man. Thank you so much brother!
Thank you Miss O .
I'm pretty sure the Secret Windshield Installer Society stole the election from Trump, too. Get on it O-Patriots!
Hi Eric,I think your video's are great, I have a 2009 ford 4-wheel drive escape, the air conditioner blows cold air for about 30 seconds
then stops and blows warm air, i changed the AC pressure clutch switch, but still have the same problem, would appreciate any advise on what my next step could be, Thanks.
If I didn't do my own mechanical work, my problematic Mazda Tribute (aka Escape) would send a mechanic's kids to college.
Ford's and GMs have the worst door dingers worst out of two is Ford's
Graphic reason to NOT buy a FROD
I know this is an old video, but I gotta say; I've got a '14 Escape (looks like about the same trim as this one) and I have had no buzzes or rattles in it at all. I've had used cars from the seventies and eighties and they had plenty of interior noise. I guess there's something to those clipped and snapped components in the newer cars. Thanks for a great channel.
Unbelievable… super secret windshield removal society… what a bunchabaloney. 🤣
When working with plastic, hook and click is better than the bend and snap.
I just wanted to get in there and start ripping trim pieces off. I've pulled apart so many Ford dashes, you can yank on the plastic pieces pretty hard 😂
Being a Ford tech I still see those go bad alot still to this day. Had one with intermittent no operation to one with intermittent battery draws. That's on that style and the auto climate control one.
Once again you produce an absolutely wonderful video, that you think stinks. You can not make a bad video. You are a video genius, and if it feels interesting to you it will be interesting to your audience. Three and a half years after posting this video is liked 1678:12 (140:1) ! It is fascinating to see the amount of force you are willing to apply to the plastic parts. I learned a lot about limits. I also have never seen the removal of plastic from the dashboard. Thanks for showing this to us.
If you break those trim piece they are not cheap – did a good sob – and you have patience – a virtue and some tools
Hahaha😂😂 the "Secret Windshield Society" club. …. yeah, I do hate that about some companies. Stupid policy.
About 12 minutes in, the "factory specs" on the helpful sheet say to torque to 18 lb in (2 Nm). Im just saying
Dingers lol typo autocorrect sucks to
Door dinners suck I am with you on that bro.
Wow. That car is only 2 years old at the time this video was made. Ford quality🤔👎🏻
But can she do it?
from vinnie from path there is only one auto technician that i know that is as honest as you. it is my buddy and my mechanic jimthecarguy
The Secret Windshield Society.🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣👍
can the BCM prevent a blower motor from working?
can you help me to get a manual system just like the one in the video for KIA Sportage 2008?
best regards
Great job. And ur funny bro. Tks for everything.
lol oh boy don't know sometimes who out of you or Scannerdanner worry the most about what people think about your way of doing diagnostic work or the need to change parts, seriously as i said to scannerdanner you,ll find you,ll always have someone who disagrees with how you do things. point being you,ll always come across a time where you,ll most likely find it best to poke a hole in a wire to do a test or replace a part to save a client some money,, just Ignore the Nay-Sayers an don't give them the satisfaction of getting to you …..
No brakkleen huh? LOL! GREAT VIDEO!
You can buy that puller on Amazon now.
Isn't the first rule of the secret windshield installer society is you don't talk about the secret windshield installer society?
Muy buenas pero para tragar gasolina sus cajas de cambios y la dirección no son buenas duran mientras la garantía expira y a llevar del bulto con esa calidad horrible pícaros.
In my opinion Ford needs to leave and sell your crap in China!
Good video. Thanks for sharing. Be very careful talking to your wife and asking if there are any squiters… LoL. I've always used a battery terminal puller on those windshield wiper arms.
Just checked the price on eBay for my f150 for giggles.. 500.00
Good call. Thanks for the video.
Unnecessary door dinger is one of the most annoying things . At a garage i used to work at other techs would leave doors open and chiming for HOURS , I used to go NUTS !! got so bad i would disconnect battery cables while they were at lunch ha
That cringeworty moment when the loud snap and release happens. Sheer panic looking for the tabs to still be intact.
How hard do you pull? Until it comes off or breaks
