In this video we finish putting the lower control arms, tie rod end and tire on this '09 Ford Fusion. All that is left is to check the wheel alignment and make sure we cure the customer complaint of the clunk noise and shimmy. - Enjoy!

I go with Moog, these remind me of the mevotech suspension parts with the blue rubber. I had to warranty those parts literally a few months after install.

I'm wondering if I preloaded these control arms correctly I somewhat did it the same way you did. I had my car on floor stands and I jacked up that spindle until it came off of the jack stand approximately a half inch and then I tighten the lower control arms and I tightened up the upper control arm. I did it the same way on both sides of the car everybody else I see Jack the car up measuring from the fender to the center of that half shaft bolt 15 7/8 but no matter how high I jacked that spindle up I couldn't get it to compressed the 15 7/8 I can only get to get to about 17 in. Maybe the strut springs just too strong to compress that much.

Hey are you around anymore? I have a good question for you? After doing so many control arm in my life I'm wondering how you adjust something that has no adjustment and are these numbers a concern. I changed the lower control arms and upper control arm and enter in our tie rods on my 2011 Mercury Milan premiere. After doing so I took my car to tireMan for a front wheel alignment now they give me this piece of paper it shows before measurements and after measurements. Before measurements left side front camber -0.6° after -0.6° caster before 3.3° after 3.3° toe before -0.40 after 0.10° right front before measurements camber 0.3° after 0.2° Castor before 4.9°. after 4.9° Toe before -1.06° after 0.11° now I can understand there being an adjustment for the toe in and toe out. But I don't see an adjustment for the caster or camber all you can pretty much do is put those control arms in their spots and put the bolts in their places I don't understand the big number differences between left side and right side. Now it says before total toe -1.46°after 0.21° steering ahead before 0.33° after -0.01° I didn't do anything to the rear end but I can give you those numbers I just can't see why these numbers are so far different. Before measurements rear end left rear camber -0.7°after -0.7° toe before 0.28°after 0.30° right rear before measurements camber -1.4° after -1.3° toe before -0.15° after -0.17° rear total toe 0.13° after 0.13° thrust angle 0.21°, after 0.24° of all these adjustments what are the adjustments I need to be concerned about because I can't see you making any camber adjustments or caster adjustments these cars are built like pretty much set it and forget it. And this is what it says on the bottom of my sheet one or more values are not with in specifications tire wear handling and safety problems may result. Why would one side caster and camber be different than the other side of the car is that how to manufacture built these are these numbers within reason?

I know this is old, but love your work! I feel like you missed the worn out inner tie rod…it shouldn't be that flimsy. I'm having to do mine now, was looking forward to you doing the inner one though!

This must be a northern car a lot of rust underneath. I have a 2010 it's been a great car well taken care of. 115,000 miles and still going strong. I learned a lot about my fusion. Thank you

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars jda79 says:

This is just the worst control replacement ever. I fucking hate this car

  13. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars BlueNinja28 says:

Took my steel rims into a guy to balance them for me (mounted the tires myself by hand) he said I did a great job and it only needed a small weight added…. too bad he did a shoddy job. watched him struggle with weights falling off, so I got closer to look at the can…. he was using spray lube! then to make them stick he used a die grinder to remove a huge patch of paint….. these were my winter rims, and we salt the roads too.

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Gus Echeverri says:

i need to change both of those control arms. would keeping the subframe lowered to replace both be the better option then?

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bootyloot says:

What ive witnessed first hand at walmart tire shops is them put the tire on the balancer run it then take it off. No weights put on or anything. They just make it look like their doing their job.

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars chris Lee says:

awesome job eric even though the workshop is a dangerous place you make it fun and intresting at the same time if i lived in the states i would defo bring my motor to you

    Funniest part, Grease Gun… lol

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Scrimmer08 says:

That barcode label on the lip of the tire may cause a slow leak. This happened on my Pilot Sport Runflat. A few PSI lost every few days. I don't know why tire manufacturers insist on putting a label right where they shouldn't put it.

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars James Berkhimer says:

I work at Wally world I take offence to what you said😂🤣😂🤣…. but seriously a lot of employees dont know what their doing nor know how to setup a laser balancer up properly.

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Stuart Holmes says:

It's easier to change control arms if you do both whilst you have the sub frame lowered great video's by the way really enjoy your channel

When I was a kid, Ford used to have a TV commercial that said, "better ideas come from Ford". It had a lightbulb that would light up. Well in my thinking, the lights are on but nobody's home.

this is why I fix stuff too!🤣

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Erin Swenson says:

Just getting to see this video…. Am I crazy or did you just edit past balancing that wheel?! You can't spin it with the weight on, remove it and just add a weight without re-spining first. That 1.5oz will not be accurate. Does your machine have a magic "ignore installed weights" button? Not hating on you Mr. O, I love the videos, but 1/2 the time I am looking for the "hey I know I just put this here, but we forgot to do xyz first". Must have just hit the editing room floor. 😉

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jesus M. Rodriguez says:

I'm surprised that you didn't do both sides. Will that cause any adverse effects with driving? Do you normally only do one side?

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Nella Yema says:

Great videos. Just curious–I only saw the torque wrench used once. Was that because it was only needed once, or just shown once to keep the video from being too long?
