Come along with Eric O at SMA as we have a look at this 2004 Honda Civic that was dropped off at the shop and the customer told us "I think it needs a clutch." A quick inspection shows that the right front axle shaft was SNAPPED IN HALF! Was this do to rust or the fact he was just learning how to drive standard!? -Enjoy!

holy smokes! why did it snapped like that? (we don't smoke… in youtube… hehehe)
They smell like weed because they come with two joints in every box!
They all come from where the good stuff is grown… MEXICO
All the cv axles I've gotta at my shop smell the same way and even some belts to
Hi guys the axle smells like that because the axles are made in china. Their rubber is different and smells bad.
You can tell from the dark line around the one edge that this was a fatigue fracture that eventually snapped. That axle has been cracked for awhile. (CV axles made in Met e co!)
My wife snapped one on launch recently on her Acura, so it must be a Honda thing. I have never seen it before either.
Sure you donโt smoke marijuana.
๐๐คฃ๐
๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฏ๐ฒ๐ฏ๐ฒ
Perhaps the boxes are made of the stuff!
This is common on Accords too. Iโve had two and both R & L driveshafts snapped by 300k. Ironically, never had happen on Acura TL of same vintage.
Car quest axles are made from hemp
Wifey likes the smell…lol..๐๐ค๐ค
Puff puff pass
Happy wife happy life
if this part is broken can it make a lound grinding noise
I have experienced that smell on a number of different parts all of them had a significant amount of rubber. I think it's got something to do with the way some rubber is manufactured in China.
the odor your smelling is a rust inhibitor coating added to the steel to stop corrosion while in storage before use
When I first started watching I thought you were saying Self made auto garage. Not south main. Self made would still be appropriate. Keep up the fine work!
I know you just didn't inhale LOL
Itโs all that horsepower Hondaโs got
Oh my , this video is gold . Kona gold .
Now I know why my wife and I thoroughly enjoy watching you two . Fellow mom and pop shop owners.
Tell 'Ole girl' , be glad your in SMA instead of Davalos Plumbing. Our stuff never smells good. My wife is just like the Mrs O , always finding ways to go to the job instead of the office. She likes the work enough that we had to get her registered as a plumbers apprentice , so much so our local inspectors stop at our jobs to chat with her . Times have actually changed for the better from our case study's perspective.
Same thing happened to my friends Honda Fit both axles and now my Honda Accord. I'm over 55 and drive completely like an old fart. The axles snapped shaft in the exact same spot.
The box is made from industrial hemp.
Your videos suck…but I sure have learned a lot watching them; ๐
My boot got ripped and the dirt inside wore down the spline inside the joint and it just spun even in park, but I swapped it out 2 days ago, now Iโm having fears my 4L60 isnโt acting right. Fucking hate buying vehicles off liars
I have got a ton of parts for napa and the boxes have that odor also not just cv axles Eric O ๐ณ ๐ @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
I have the OTC 6295 front end service set I use it more then 4 times a week it's a great set ๐ ๐ Eric O @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
Lmfao at Mrs O ๐คฃ Smashing you with questions should I take it to another shop ๐คฃ ๐ you get em Vanessa ๐คฃ @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
Looks like the Old civic Has plenty of lead in its pencil to break that Cv Axle Wow Never seen that on a civic either that is Very impressive Eric O ๐ @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
I thought the same thing when I opened my first one it smelled like my truck
I understand this is an old video, but I'd never seen that happen either until a few months ago. '06 Accord snapped its half-shaft right at the damper. I kinda live in snow 'n' salt country as well, but not as severe as your location. Took it 15 years to rot in two. Driver happened to hit the throttle just as she bounced over some railroad tracks, so that somehow provided the right shock and torque to finish it off.
Had to be a WOT clutch dump right?
The weed smell is actually a thing if you look it up on Reddit a lot of people are asking the question
Never saw an axle rusted in to.
That axle is going to drive real smooth if it came out of that ๐ฆ .now the car will go real smother.I think that axle is to close to that joint thatโs why that happen I mean ball joint.
There is a recall for it . Honda will pay for it ….
Hi, is it possible to replace only the dynamic damper on the half-axle? I have original half-axle Honda but on the Dynamic damper is cracked rubber
What I want to know is how come you and the misses recognize that odor๐คจ
Great video! And I really loved it that Mrs. O. totally gave you the what-for! LOL!
That exact same thing happened to ours. HAHA!!!! Ours is a manual, though.
It could be that the paper used to make the boxes is made from hemp which is in the cannabis family.
they always brake there on the honda fit
Paper made from hemp.
This was so informative for a girl who knows nothing about axels. My Honda Accord just snapped today with the same sound. You really taught me a lot in minutes. Thank you for this great video. Your fam is awesome. Who knows, the packaging could be made out of hemp or someone is transporting MaryJane with the parts. Lol. At least your wife knows the difference between good stuff and garbage. She's a hound. LoL. Enjoyed y'all very much!! ๐
My element left side twisted off.same place. I had never seen that either…
I had my axel break on my 96 Civic HX Coupe, I was coming to a stop and it broke, it wasnโt rusted or nothing๐ณ
I love your family
mine snapped in the exact same location on a 2010 honda accord. asked four buddies who work/worked in shops. no one has seen it either.
