“I think when I retire ill just go be a mechanic down south” 😂
Good Brake Job Eric O she crusty @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
Great video! Inspired me to do the rear pads and rotors on my 07 Ridgeline. Can you share the pads and rotors you prefer to use? Thanks.
Eric you're the best !
Hello do I need to bleed the brakes after is it necessary thaks
Go down to Texas where no sail on road at all no crusts
I was just wondering what is your point of calling hondu instead of honda. I think ur giving ur viewers wrong idea of car manifactures. Honda and hyundai are not same company Obviously. I watch ur video a lot and i like the way u handle problems but i just can't stand u calling hondu that might be offending HONDA motors.
Please clear up the Honda CRV brake wear indicator position for me. Just did my first brake job ever which went well, however, I think I hear a slight grinding sound (on the right front rotor when coming to a slow stop. I used all the products you've used in this and previous videos and I'm certain I greased up all required area where metal to metal contact exists. I got the caliper guide pins in correctly with the one with the rubber bushing on the bottom. They too have been greased and the boots have been burped. The brake hardware kit came with everything except the anti-rattle clip. The hub was cleaned and I ground all the rust away so that it was super smooth…even used emory cloth to do a final sanding. Used copper based silicone paste on the hub as well. CRV drives great but that grinding (rotor?) sound on the right is really bugging me. I put the inside brake pads (where the caliper boots are located) installed with the indicator down just like I saw on the old pads. Once I torqued the caliper mount and guide pin bolts, I tested and the calpier with pads installed slid side to side just fine. Oh, I even lined up the flat side of the caliper pins with the slots on the caliper mounts. So, could the inside brake pads have been installed incorrectly from the start and may be causing my issue? Please clarify so the newbie do-it-yourselfers are educated properly. Also, I only did my own brakes after having watch the two ladies change out that front suspension as you oversaw their work…funny as heck and that prompted me to man up and make things happen for myself.
Excellent video & information as usual, thanks for your help. 👍👊
First time I've watched you. What is the tool that you cleaned the studs with. If you was in Ohio I would bring you a car to have fun with. 78 mustang ii transmission switch. Going from a automatic transmission to a T5 5 speed
Great video, quick question, you set the tension on e brake pads with star while saying e brake was on yet it turned freely, did you mean to say it was off?
As usual you are the MAN. Too bad you're so far away. Maybe you can start a host a viewer program where you select one lucky viewer to watch you work in person? Id volunteer to be the first lucky viewer! Awesome.
Thanks for your video. I have an 2008 that I have to do all 4 wheels, rotors, new pads. I”m glad I have a small lift to use so I can methodically do all 4 at once. I”m glad I don’t have the salt/rust issues in my area. I’ll be checking your other Ridgeline vids for more tips. Thanks !!!
what is that you used the electric to take off the screw brom the back what is the name of the electric that has orage where you hold it
hi eric, you probably wont read this but i hate the word mistake its not a mistake it a lesson on how not to do something lesson sounds so much better than mistake. even a good tech like you needs to learn somethings.
would be interested in seeing a truck that has lived most of it life in arizona? well i have one and im about three hours south of you.. its a pretty clean vehicle even though its twenty one years old.
Late to the party, but sincere thanks for the quality video .
Great Lesson Eric, I am assuming the two tapped holes in the rotor are pusher holes in case the rotor is frozen on the hub?
All I need is a battery powered impact ratchet! Know of any good ones? My Ryobi impact gun is the shiznit, jus too big to fit behind rotors! Of all the videos available, I always check SMA first. Your content is easy to understand for a working class person, like myself! Appreciate the info, you have saved me a bunch of money btw.
So what should I do if that first little screw you took out is seized up in there?
Thanks so much for this video. I learned a lot.
Don’t start without a M8 x 1.25 bolt!!! This is a critical tip. Without it, I would have been dead in the water on the second side of my break job. The rotor would NOT come off. Using the bolt to press off the rotor is impossible without the less-than-a-buck bolt from the hardware store or Home Depot. I’d go to large store (E.g., Home Depot) with a decent selection on METRIC Bolts
Can you or someone tell me if adjusting the starwheel is necessary or if it causes any damage at all?? Pls and thnx!!🙏🏼
I wish my brake mechanic would do all of that which you did on my brakes.
This afternoon I redid my rear brakes and took extra time to clean the rust off the brackets. What a difference it makes! The pads actually slide instead of needing a hammer to get them into place. THANKS!!!!
Love the brake cleaner chime xD
Eric I have to ask, are the brake pads you installed the Platinum Pro pads from Advanced Auto? If so don't you find that they leave an significant amount of brake dust? I installed these pads along with the Advanced Auto Premium rotors on a 2015 Ford Edge and 2010 Acura MDX and on both vehicles these pads leave make a ton of brake dust. Thanks, Eric
Love the sound effects when you show the cans of cleaners or lubes you use ! LOL
This has been one of the best brake works I have ever seen on YT. You are very neat worker and that is very very very important. Thank you
This is the same on the 03 and up Odyssey or Pasports
Jeeesssus, those callipers are tiny
I like seeing a mechanic that does a quality job. No short cuts to save time. I would use you in a heartbeat if you were a mechanic near me. I’m sure everyone watching loves your videos. Always a job well done Best of Luck.
Watching your videos makes me glad I live in Virginia!
When you put the new rotor on, you say the parking brake is on but, you adjust the it so the rotor spins. Did you mean to say that the parking brake is off? Great video by the way.
I know it's an older video but, it's one of my favs.
Those rear brakes are embaressingly small for a 'truck'
Great video! Thanks a ton for this comprehensive brake job video. Very informative and thorough. I'm about to do my own brake job on all 4 wheels of my 2008 Honda Ridgeline. I was told I need rotors and pads on all wheels and was quoted on Carquest Platinum rotors and Carquest Wearever ceramic pads. Maybe you can't (or don't want to give reviews) but if you could just give me a thumbs up or down on those parts I'd appreciate it. Just making sure I wasn't being hosed by the shop….it could be that I don't need all 4 wheels done.
Awesome video. Thanks for uploading.
We have rust in maryland but not as bad as new york. Love your videos.
Referring to the previous valve job you did on this honda ridgeline, did you ever establish with the customer if there was excessive oil burn? thank you
Works every time, unless it doesn’t… love it, thanks for the video
I am getting ready to buy a used Ridgeline. I have seen your videos prior to this one and I have found ,once again, your video to be helpful. THANKS ! ! !
Hey, thanks for the video! I will be tackling this project soon. If I am just a DIYer without air tools, what do you recommend to use to clean the wheel studs and hub face? Also, any recs on which pads and rotors to buy? Thanks again.
Great video Eric are ceramic brake pads ok in PA. ? I saw they don't work as well in cold weather , what's your opinion /
Take my crescent wrench and fix everything lol
Qi used to use STP before I knew about never seize .
I did this, but now my brakes grind. Like super annoyingly grind. I used plenty of cleaner, changed the pads and rotors… Any ideas??
I had no idea there was a drum brake underneath the rear on a Ridgeline!
I’m surprised you’re not wearing a mask 😷
Where do you get your work light from?
