In this video I repair a broken speed sensor on a 20101 Hyundai Accent that is setting a code for the speed sensor. Oddly enough the speedometer still worked. However this is the speed sensor that sends data to the engine computer. -Enjoy!

Which side was the sensor at i have the same engine light code right now
Hi, I have the same code 0501 for my 2010 Hyundai Accent and it's indicating "speed sensor A". What side does this sensor go on? Driver front or passenger front ? Thanks
Ah, the Accent. I've got an '07 MC (2-Door) with just 49k miles on the clock. Solid little grocery getter. Lifetime free oil changes from the dealership. Every four months like clockwork. Free danish & bottle of water. Least miles between changes was 385 miles. Probably every time the oil going out looks like the oil going in.
Not a hyundai, but my car is having the same code. Everything works fine, speedometer is functional, RPM meter is ok. It's just that the check engine light will pop out if the RPM exceeds 3000RPM. No ABS. I'm thinking that maybe using a slightly smaller tire caused the error code. Some says that the tachometer itself is faulty.
Sometimes I just wish you live in Florida. I wouldn't mind to drive wherever in the state just to come and visit your shop. Then I remember I drive a Toyota and I forget about it.
Dude!
thanx..for this video…giving me idea ,how to change mine..
I would clean that reluctor ring on that axle. Give the speed sensor better magnetism when the axle is rotating
Does this code affects the car performance? If not, I'm planning to ignore it forever, as long as my car works.
Thanks for your videos buddy…
Hi my garagist just change my sensor but the p0501 keep popping
Tell the Lady " You got crap hanging down on the headliner" "Why don't you cut it off"
That cheap car is pretty nice here in Canada because it has no electronic features to get coroded away and cost you thousands every few winters. If only it had an AWD version for an extra few thousand. Regardless I still love my 08 Accent.
Leave the mumbling sound effects…and you'd have a great video!
I have a Kia Spectra with no ABS. Same setup you have there. I found out that if that sensor is bad you will never be able to set those three things to "Ready" because the wheel speed sensor feeds the PCM the speed signal. So you won't pass the state emissions inspection tests. If you had done a bit more 55mph driving they probably would have set (at least the Catalyst and O2 sensor)
I have to say. I really do appreciate the lack of cussing in your vids. Not like the other auto tech channels where every other word is an f-Bomb
Always charge more for imports they deserve it๐
Watching that drill bit go through the remains of the sensor and get so close to the reluctor ring of the cv shaft stressed me the fuck out
Nice!!
You wouldn't happen to know where the sensor is located on a manual transmission? I'm assuming the gearbox but just in case it's in a different location
ALLAH MOST HIGH Has blessed this man with some good hands and brains .Good for him…interesting to watch him work and come up with new ideas .
I thought using anti seize near speed or ABS sensors was a big no is that wrong ?
Good job
That headliner tho ๐ค๐คฃ
Is it me, or did the volume go away after it came off the lift?
I just heat up the left over part and melt the plastic a bit then they pop right out with a screw driver. Clean up the hole with the Dremal and then the new one slides right in.
Nice and crusty should be under the welcome to New York signs you see on the highway ๐
Excuse me, while I'll go hug a high mileage southern car. We deal with rust with some CLR remover and a tooth brush.
I sure don't miss working on all that rusty junk back East.
did I read the odometer right? it only has 61,xxx miles on it and its in that rough of a shape.
Thank you for you showing I fixed
none of the bolts broke are you sure its a hyundi
One bolt…ha ha ha
Two bolts…ha ha ha
Tick or little spider who got the cameo. Butter me Pat.
This reminded me of a dentist visit
I get those calls all the time. First month in business, didnt realize they were scammers….dont do that. They still call constantly 2yrs later lol. Good video
The speed sensor for the speedometer is located on the transmission. Had the same trouble code on my '03 Kia Rio. Unfortunately I wasted the $$ replacing the sensor when the real problem was corrosion in the wiring harness under the hood. Giant pain in the ass to figure out, took me ages to track it down. I never did learn what this single wheel speed sensor is for, must be something the ECU uses.
DANG ๐
Loved your hammer!
Dog ate the roof liner. Hungry pup!
Lord have mercy the rust yโall have to deal with is a trip! The car dealers have to be happy about that!
Dig your videos, and I need some advise/help on a 03 Impala 3.4 camshaft R&R
could you use anti seize where the speed sensor goes? just in case of future removal?
what a rusty P.O.S!
Well thereโs your problem lady. A cases of the rusty Crusties
Was that anย Oldsmobileย Holiday that went by?
A 2001 without ABS? or is it just like rear ABS?
It looks like you're working on the wreckage of the Titanic.
