Come along wit Eric O at SMA and let's have a look at this 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee that tends to run a fever if it is left sitting. Not only do we diagnose a bad fan assembly but we get to play around with the Bosch VCI module and check out some of the bidirectional functions of it.

I know your community is very grateful to have you and your shop there, I enjoy your videos very much.
Yeahhhhhh definitely never see my electric fan on. Hoping that's my problem because I don't have a diagnostics scan tool to turn things on. I could just turn on AC I suppose.
That fluid extractor sounds like when I was at the dentist as a youngster.
good video…..lose the music and intro…..those musical intros are so cheap and cheesy …..just say hi and get on with the bizniz
Great video as always Eric O nice bosch VCI Bi directional module @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
So you're saying gravity sucks? Who knew!! 🥺
Love your channel so honest I wish more mechanics would like you instead of bunch of jerks
Hi anyone knows how to fix conector that conect to fan something work sometimes doesn't i touch the conector and it starts what shuld i do please
oh how i wish my wj had a electric fan instead of hydrofan
U a genius….u make a stupid skede as me understundom…a question..do polo 1.4 year 2000 have high and low speed in fan?
Buying Dorman. You gotta be a dork, man.
Their parts are doo-doo. (former employee)
Boy expensive just by looks since it incorporates the shroud too.
Can we swap to an electric fan? Having same issue with my cherokee and the fan just doesn't spin for crap at high temps.
For 3.7 Jeep WK how to test fan high / low speed and if spinning fast enough, when I have AC on fan seems like its not spinning fast enough..
No warm up drive test to check thermostat, fan relay and engine coolant sensor??
That'll be $425 please!
Needs a Fan? Or Fan motor?? And you didn't say after the probe light test what the problem was, like the motor was blown? You just said it needs a fan?
Way to go using the Molar coolant! Most people cheap out on that.
Another great video. Thanks for showing us how.
First mistake was buying a jeep
Jeep is so cheap and clueless as to use what’s apparently an engine driven fan shroud with no engine driven fan. WTF Jeep? Not only was this a fail, like many things Jeep, it wasn’t even designed right in the first place. And the Bosch scan tool is slow and crude. I’m surprised you put up with it.

My Dodge gets very warm at idle and underway runs at a maximum of 185 to 190. Idling it reaches 215 degrees and cools to 205. At a steady 80mph it gets 30mpg and runs up to 190. Eric O. Worked on a car that had a heater in the thermostat. Probably the stupidest idea except what engineers do to the steering column which is engineering idiocy personified.

Great videos
What tool is that which yiu are using? I like how slim it is and it looks light weight.
How many miles were on that jeep at the time this video was made? My jeep just turned over 91k and it overheated on me in the drive through the other day.
Did you say "8 track" ?
Jiminy cricket
I know this is old. But rather disappointed that you had a chance to easily reverse blow out the radiator but you didnt. No extra service, eh.
Good time to flush the radiator
Great video.
oh yes the artsy intro!! loved it.
Second time watching 7/3/2020
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
The cricket likes the brake clean a bit much
Do you wear that hat because you work on them constantly?
I had a 1998 Chrysler Concord with the same problem, what I found each motor had a seprate ground, both were bad. Made up new ground wires, and they worked great. I must have been lucky, compared to this.
My Chrysler had 2 small fans one came on at around 195 degrees then the other at 205 if I remember correctly
I would never allow my mechanic to use Dorman products unless there were NO other options
My Mum had a Toyota Corona Mk 2. The mechanical fan from the crankshaft pulley was removed (was damaged and replacement part then could not be found) and the auto shop installed a electric fan. He also installed a manual switch to turn on or off. No auto on or off. Was fun pulling up to a store and turning engine off, then manually turning off fan 10 seconds later. Would get alot of attention. This was in 1993.
I was wondering why you went to the scan tool first? I understand that you were checking out the system.
Cheap Jerokee!
There is more cost in the fan packaging than there is in the fan itself
I just realized why we love to watch these videos ,this is what we did as kids in the old days,we went to our local garage and hung out and learn ,if we were lucky enough we would work for free just to learn
A dorman fan. I'm sure that failed in short order..
That intro with the black & white made me think your great grandchildren might make a video about you and their their grandparents (your children) some day.
