Good work!
Any dielectric on the plugs?
All the work for the back plugs, who design these motors. …… not mechanic I’m guessing!!
Ray this is my take on this job. Every engineer who has designed these v-6 engines should be given a pair of latex gloves and a fully equipped tool box. Then made to change all 6 plugs on the first vehicle that comes out of the salt water test. Then they can pick up their pay check!
Nicely done Ray.
Makes one yearn for those faraway, simpler times when changing a set of plugs was a 15 minute job tops.
Is there a monkey in your garage!?!?
This is the quietest you have been of all your videos. Were you having a bad day?
I am not a auto tech but I have done a lot of "Shadetree mechanic" stuff. It's been my experience that baking soda and water does the same thing as the liquid you are using to remove corrosion from battery cables. Comments welcomed. You are VERY GOOD AT WHAT YOU DO!
Your commentary to me is as interesting as the actual work…seems to be lacking in this video.
Tuneups should include a throttle body cleaning, unless you did it behind the scenes so kudos if u did. Have a good day 🤠 Also, I always gap new plugs to make sure they didn't get banged around when shipping. Good job.!!!
I think Santa brings Ray brake clean in his stockings 🤣
I like that battery grabber,
Chemicals can leak into the battery through the post and the plastic battery box causing premature failure of the acid and the lead core plates.
I see they still follow the "K.I.S.S." method? not, !!! Keep It Simple Stupid!
How hard could it be to change the plugs an Escape with a V-6? I've changed dozens of spark plugs. One look under the hood and I realized I've changed my last automobile spark plug. Thank God for knowledgeable mechanics!
No such thing as a "quick" spark plug job on a V6 Ford Escape.
Kind of quiet on this repair, what’s up?
Did you use the same intake gasket ?
I hate Motorcraft plugs!
you should have replace gasket and clean surface.
Wish my battery was that easy to remove
Never saw you tighten the plugs on the front?? Maybe this was edited out..
After cleaning you should use Holts No Corrode.
You really get you use out of that 1/4 inch long neck ratchet, ,,,,great work.
The mustangs you have to put anti-sees on the plugs .
This is why it costs $600 for a tune up – disassemble entire top half of engine to replace 3 spark plugs
Dude…..boiling hot water, followed by vaseline.
Use boiling water to clean battery terminal.
no torque spec on that intake manifold Rai??
love those escapes.. the 3.0s are solid but if it's the 4-speed auto… ohh boy..
Jesus seriously all that to gain access to the back 3 plugs on a Ford FWD V6? Good Lord. Yeah no thanks. This is why I will drive my 2008 Escalade EXT 6.2 until it disintegrates under me. I will continue to lease my wife a new car every 3 years. Currently she is on her 3rd Buick Enclave (2021) and it is quite easy to change the oil. But since we trade them in every 3 years and they is always under warranty I will do nothing else. But I will say I have looked over the Buick V6 and it looks like an easy engine to work on. Only thing I really HATE is that shit where the engine shuts off when you stop at a red light. I HATE that shit!
WOW! Didnt blow out the spark plug recesses, before removing the plugs.
No anti seize on the plug threads (dealerships even do that).
Didnt clean the intake manifold mating surfaces.
Didnt install a new intake seal.
60 seconds to clean it all up, install a new seal and make sure it will not be a come back with a misfire.
Exactly WHY I do all my own work!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’ll betcha the egr valve to upper intake o-ring is nice and dried out….
Sure miss the days when you didn’t have to do a tear down just to change a few plugs.
Very smooth Ray Ray. I like to use anti seize on my plugs.
Buy Walmart Brake Cleaner way cheaper ($2 vs $5) and you have to go through a lot.
i knew as soon as you lowered it and I saw aDuratec 30 it wasn't a "quick" change. Had that engine, $400-$500 job to change those because of all the stuff built on top of them
Ford H8ters, I got bad news for ya: I own a Lexus RX 300 and a Kia Sorento, and both have a V6 transverse mounted engines. Intakes gotta come off on the Kia to get the back bank. The Lexus didn’t have to take the intake out, but it sure was a contortionist act to snake the back bank plugs out. It is what it is. I also like to hit the plugs with compressed air before taking the plugs out. I also am always using the torque wrench to put it all back together.
I watched a tutorial the other day from a Ford mechanic. Those 3.0's are good engines but the cam cap bolts farthest from the front loosen or break and take the engine out. He said if one is replacing valve cover gaskets to replace the set or at least check for looseness. Great videos. Why does the shop let you vid?
Think that’s something. Try changing the alternator. Really a pain in the butt.
The line of frustration.. Mechanics – engineers – designers and the people who says nay or yeah to the cost
No anti seize on the plug threads ?
Ray Ray you’re gaining subscribers fast!!
Since spark plugs last about 100,000 miles now , I dont think manufacturers are real concerned about making it easy to replace them.
So yeah, about once a decade you have to spend three hours doing what used to be a 30 minute job , but that beats the Hell out of replacing them twice a year.
I always enjoy your videos. Always thorough and a very fine technician. Thank you for the content and keep up the great work
Hey hey whoa! Negative first!
Thanks Ray. You really are a very good mechanic, I wish you worked near me.
Leave it to the damn engineers to complicate a simple task!
