In this video I have a look at a 2005 Kia Amanti from another shop that was having some trouble figuring out a transmission solenoid code for the UD solenoid. Let's see what we can do to help them out. -Enjoy!

ATC RELAY, ECU
Maybe wifi will help you out first
I really enjoy your videos
Love Love LOVE your troubleshooting. Hate the fact that you don't start with a clean work area though.
Great video! Thanks
Nothing on 3, little click on 4, 5 is binding.. click on him, 6 feels set, back to 3.. 3 is binding, and we got her open..
OOPS wrong channel.
Good job Eric O.
Amanti is French for crapola
"Do we know how autotransmissions work? No, we think they're magical" . Ain't that the truth!
Please I have a challenge from kia opirus 2004 with a v6 engine and automatic transmission. The problem with the car is that it can't change gear.
Additionally, a "SPORT" light is blinking on the dashboard while an "ESP" light remains on.
Also when you engage the gear into reverse it shakes the whole very well than when put in neutral and drive.
Codes the car displayed are p1723, p0325, p0225, p1151.
Please help me out with what I need to do and perhaps with a factory schematic to help me solve the problem. Especially that p1723 code
LOL @ Amanti is maybe French or Italian for "mistress." I have an '04 and an '06. Both are still purring.
The 04 has developed an intermittent miss on one cylinder, only at idle. No DTCs at all. No money light. Hoping that visual inspection shows a bad wire. The back bank is a bear to get to. Upper plenum and EGR tube have to come off. Oh, the joy.
I used to be Kia mechanic I emphasize used to be that interstate battery is probably worth more than the car ๐๐คฃ
It doesnโt surprise me schematic is wrong they havenโt changed it was 20 years ago since I worked on them and where wrong from factory as well donโt miss them
Jeepers! 3.5 ohms with 14 volts draws 14 squared over 3.5 or FIFTY SIX watts! Those are some HOT solenoids there, Clarence.
Most of these early kia cars mimic Mitsubishi and Nissan cars. Fyi .
Your scanner tool a five thousand dollars tool. So which one you like better?
I rebuilt a 4L60-E after my wife panic shifted and broke the forward sprag.ย I was amazed as to how simple it really is.ย Very few moving parts and.ย No special tools really needed.ย There's one part that has several springs that you need a tool to compress it to remove and install the snap ring.ย I made one out of pvc pipe and bolts I had in my plumbing bin.
Note to self: never buy a Kia.
Scotty kilmer wouldnt have touched this car
Iโve repaired a few of those Hyundai/Kia harnesses inside the transmission. Itโs like a ribbon cable that the connector that passes through the case is soldered to. You have to remove the valve body to get it out.
I wish I had access to all those wire diagrams
Automatic transmissions work on fairry dust and unicorn farts and bits of monkey stain
If Eric O. would watch Precision Transmission down TexMex way YouTube vidyus he would know that the solonoid pack, (of four), comes off and ya'll can buy them 4 at onecet.
I've watched several of your video and you do the first rule my mentor taught me to never assume always check test and know for sure the biggest mistake a person can make is saying there is a problem but this part is new that can't be the problem wrong take the time to test and know and the problem will show itself thanks for the great videos
Great video Mr owe
I like it, I wish I was a technician…
Eric…I had 2 purge control solenoids go under warranty no less..on 2 new cars..my current 2015 Forrester and a 2006 Saab 9-3…
Socket set:$30
Scan tool:$38
Undersized used floor jack:$25
Multimeter:$nah fam, thatโs too much
Now you know how some โshopsโ operate
I have a super awesome multimeter that has overload and open lead codes, guess how confusing that is when they both say OL and I only have beeping to guess what is going on
Kia Amanti? Sounds like a cheap Korean made Italian apertif or a back ailment.
How would you charge the other garage for a diagnostic like this a basic diagnostic charge or t&m?
I'm up there Toronto Canada wish you were closer,I'd be on your doorstep.great work.
I donโt think I have ever met anyone with a high flyinโ reputation like Eric O, and South Main Auto LLC. By far the coolest and chillest auto mechanic/tech in the world. I gotta gets me some of those SMA shirts, sweaters, and socs
Just a question for all the mechanics out there(and Eric) I am now retired but ran my own diag shop for years (till about 2015) How do the rest of you guys deal with the time we all loss due to incorrect info both from scan tools and wiring diagrams??? I had a hard time justifying (to myself) charging a customer for the incorrect info(and wasted time because of it) I had purchased and or scanned At the same time I can't work for free.
A simple diagnose which another shop can't do? Just tell us what we need to fix. No one wants to spend the time to figure it out.
Second time watching 8/15/2020
Why didn't the customer let you replace the part?
No nissan videos ?
They're using 2 power pins because each solinoid draws 3.4 Amps and the per pin ampicity is less than 3.4 x 6 = 20 Amps
I would love to have him be my mechanic because heโs honest and trustworthy and does a darn good job.
From a guy that recently just rebuilt a GM 4L60. It aint magic. It is sheer unadulterated HATE!
Some Hyundaiโs have a ribbon cable inside the transmission instead of wires thatโs soldered to the connector and the solder joints are known to break and cause issues. I had to remove the harness on a friend of mines car and touch up all of the solder joints. You have to remove the valve body to get to it but itโs not that bad. Just have to be sure to put the springs on top back in the right place.
I've always assumed OL on the ohm meter was open loop.
What Autel scan tool is that?????
OL on the meter = ohhhh Lordy………..
Eric O is the best
