This guy is gonna have residual oil leaking tomorrow in his driveway and think you screwed him. Should of washed it down with brake cleaner.
Rip rainmans knuckles
I watched the two Pontiac-Toyota videos with interest because I own one, although not as flashy as the one you repaired. It, too, is a 2004 and I bought it a year in with just under 20,000 miles on it. Regular maintenance and fixing problems as they arose … and now I have about 210,000 on it, and it's still going strong. I could use a mechanic up here (Massachusetts) who really knows what he's doing!!!
I give you a lot of credit you have a lot of patience if it was me I would have ripped the thing apart that's one thing about me I have no patience I give you a lot of credit on your patients
When it comes to car repair even the simplest jobs can yield complicated issues
Now the fun of putting it back together
We absolutely love your channel, Iโm no mechanic, just a guy who tries to do work on my car, Iโm fairly confident with most service tasks, including brake replacement & suspension replacement etc. We are in the UK, (we live a stones throw from the Lake District national park), where we conduct our tiny channels activities. You are a credit to your profession.
Surprised you did not have the car elevated slightly to reduce the friction when moving the steering wheel back and forth.
Gravity was spoken in two minutes
"This is a super-duper tight squeeze…" welcome to Jet maintenance! EVERYTHING is a tight squeeze….
I have watch your web site and enjoy it most of the time. But, the way work and tools you use is way I do not like taking my car to a garage. You have never met a person like working on vehicle. Must be clean and all original. Ever item found to need repair is cleaned, replaced or repaired. I love my 53 year old car and better shape most of the ones you show.
Your lack of WD-40 usage is frustrating ๐คฃ
Tell me you pulled the heat shield down where it belonged?
Used angle wrench to remove the line on the rack. Similar repair to a Toyota Sienna. Only difference was driveway instead of a two post lift. ๐ป
Where could get the crows foot wrench you used in this video with extension ๐ค
Glad the customer didnโt decline.. oil leaks really piss me off..
I broke down and got a pair of those 'angry pliers' last month through Amazon. Not that I really needed them, I have plenty of pipe wrenches of various kinds. They are unique, and they seem well made. To be honest I just wanted something in the shop to remind me of that cool dude, Rainman Ray, ha ha. Dang, I guess that means I'm a fanboy after all.
I know that I very, very often think, and perhaps utter some deprecatory comments about engineers when repairing broken items, especially after barking/cutting my integument in the process. When I used to build desktops, each one ended being โsignedโ with my blood. And every other repair. Guess Iโm just a clutz.
Tire farts.
It's mut….. It's mut…. It's pointless. That's Elmer Fuddish.
Love the AVE โRelease the shcmoo!โ
just going to say this to anyone who has a power steering leak dont use stop leak it is useless both times i had a leak and i thought oh power steering fluid with stop leak that should work for now hell no it made the leak worse alot work so i had to get it to the shop sooner then i wanted to
Up in the rust belt only option is cut the line off, put a deep well socket on it. Can't believe a crows foot did it. Sweet.
Ray like I've said several times before. You should be a Auto Shop instructor, and own your own shop.
Call me stupid, but should this "double leaky hosey" repair not have called for "normal operating temperature", a short drive, and lift to check for dryness of all components?
Iโm in the process of changing all the power steering lines on a 2004 matrix. I wish I saw the crow wrench tip! Super helpful! Though I agree ATF is what the power steering lines take. Either way thank you for sharing this video.
Damn that was painful to watch……
Ray, you should have cleaned the oil off underneath looked a mess
Sad that you didn't clean up all of the petroleum spillage ๐
I am totally hooked on this channel. Brilliant watching..
Power steering lines bite the bag.
Release the schmoo on those dirty diq beaters and torque them nuts clockwise past torque spec until it loosens the fastener then rotate counterclockwise a quarter turn and blame the dew claw.
Whoooo arrrrrre you….whoooo arrrrre you….:-)
Einstein never said light and gravity was so intertwined…. ๐
I keep clucking like a chicken whenever I see pliers….:-)
I changed my Icon New Tab link to your Promo Link to Amazon, and I buy a lot there!!!
The floor lamp strikes again!
They make something called a "line wrench"?
the force(gravity) seems very strong today.
Line wrenches are only necessary for brass fittings like the ones on carburetor fuel lines. Now most are steel. I have an old set of crow foot line wrenches and I love them. They never fall off.
It's only 45 seconds and I've already forgotten how it goes in ๐๐๐ I'm not the only one then
I hate when lines sick to the inside of the nut like that… that's why I had to cut my fuel line on my 86 K2500 when I changed the fuel pump.
You be awesome. Wish I had a tech or a mechanic I could turn too. Like you or Scotty or sma
Line wrenches are good for aluminum fitting nuts. Steel nuts… meh.
Also, I use Mechanix impact gloves. They have "knuckle busters" on them that are wonderful to have for breaking loose bolts/nuts.
Oh and a absolutely love the brutally honest shameless sales pitches
Wow man you're in the Matrix!!!
We've had a 'shit' and a 'crap' today. Must have been stressful. First time I've heard anything but peace and love. Not critical, to be clear. I'd be cussin' like the proverbial sailor for the vast majority of the episodes. ๐
