Ray, FOUND YOU! 😄😃1035 blah, blah, blah. Don't want to give others the answer. But, that number should tell you I found you! 🙂 You're closer to me now too. So, I'll be stopping by when you get opened!
Good luck dude, look forward to the coming few months and seeing you build up a cracking shop. With your reputation and attitude Im sure you'll make a great success.
Welcome to MechanicSimulator2023
Starting out is hard, really hard, don't give up. Hopefully your Youtube revenue will help. (I Dunno)
If you do things like you have in the past posts you will get a good rep. A good rep is Gold. BUT it does take time.
Scrimp when you can to begin with. Flooring can wait.
Paint the floor with one of those garage floor paint kits etc.
Quality, fair work is what you want to start with.
Scrub everything to make it as clean as possible for the customers coming in. Paint is cheap and helps a lot.
ALWAYS make sure your public restroom (If you have one) is as spotless as possible. It matters. Big Time.
I would spend money, if I had it, on the public restroom before anything else.
That is where they will get their impression of you. Most people do not want to get dirty by touching a wall, door, or cabinet.
If there is a waiting area, provide coffee, water, snack machines (You can make a bit with snack machines also), TV, etc.
And comfortable seating. Comfortable seating is underrated. Think about it.
Little things that make a wait better are appreciated and remembered.
'Most' people are not turned off by older things if they have been taken care of and they will appreciate the honest, fair work.
After you have a good following you will have the money to make things nicer for the snooty sector.
And what Chris Schmitt said below. You HAVE to have good help. Even if it hurts.
Work out a commission deal of some sort with bonuses for fast completion and dings for return work that was unsatisfactory.
There are many options to get someone to work harder and better for better money if they are honest. Research.
When more money is made and everyone gets a piece of it everyone will be more motivated to do what it takes to make more.
If you were in a setup where the better you did the more you made wouldn't you work towards that?
The people that don't care you let go of.
Good luck to you.
congrats on getting started im sure that place wont take long too look how ya want it and dont worry about customers its always been my experience that you follow the mechanic and by all the vids you made or didnt make im sure you had many come back just for you too work on there stuff and once they find you have opened up they will come see you
Was Kooks at SEMA?? I was a welder for them some years ago. Retired now!!!
Congrats!!🍾
Best of luck all the way from Canada 🇨🇦. Looking forward to all the upcoming content and shop progression. 👊🏻
Dude, don't superglue that usb power hub to the windshield. Different thermal dilatation indexes result in a broken windscreen. Own experience. Mirror fell off, glued back with superglue. Roughly 2 months after, I found out how much it costs to replace a windshield in a bmw m5. Probably the silverado windshield isn't cheaper.
Use double sided sticky tape from 3M. Worked with gopros, should work for you too.
a wipe down, some paint, maybe look at the electrical and get some lights in and some air drops, the missus can decorate the shitter. add a doodleydoo and its an 11/10
I already want to work for you.
It doesn't matter what I think…
This IS YOUR BABY.
Though that said…
I would kill to have a shop big enough for a lift.
Good luck my dude, can't wait to see what the future brings
Why don't American power points have switches like we have in New Zealand?
NICE Space! You're breathing so you have air! LOL!!! I know what ya mean. LOL!
🍾
Im from Germany and was surprised hesring you speak german 😍
I watched a train in Texas go by for 30min. Cleared for 30 seconds! 30 min later they were done. Texas law states max 15 min to block an intersection. Sent them the information, time, location, and train ID's. $20K fine! I'm still waiting!
YOU SIR! Are a braver man than me. You ROCK!
I joined the US GOV FAA for the retirement and stability. Pay sucks for what we do though, silent service, we live in the background. (Technician, mechanic, HVAC, and whatever ya can imagine! We get blamed for everything.) Most luck in your private adventure! All the freaking best mate!!
I think it needs some work and maintenance.
That looks fairly good just starting out on your own. It's way better than a gravel driveway.
26th Ave East. At least UPS should get you your packages on time…
@rainman ray's repairs I hope these new digs work out!
Good luck. Good people float to the top.
@rainman ray's repairs Iron bars or something across those windows!?
Looks like a great facility. Sure, it can be prettied up a bit but it looks super functional. I agree it needs lots and lots of more light. I prefer it to be so bright you need sunglasses to stand it. Looks like you might need some electrical work but I’m assuming you are leasing vs buying and so the landlord should be responsible to make sure it is all up to code and safe. If you are buying then I guess it will be on your dime but not that expensive and worth it.
Oh….and your Vegas videos were just fine. They were entertaining. Let the haters hate.
it looks like you have some black mold in your office area might be wrong tho
keep that bathroom light, have a touch of Del Boy
Very Good Luck RAY ,you will make the place and fill it with a lot of do de dooos for sure.✊🙏
Hey I'm so excited for you this must be totally awesome and mind-blowing you'll do well I know this from watching your blogs that you've done you're an awesome mechanic good luck
Looks great 👍
As a famous cartoon figure called "Buss Light Year" would say "Onward,Upward, and Beyond "
All the best Ray.
Step one……get automatic garage door…..one of those super fast ones.
you know there seems like there is potential for another area above the bathroom on the shop side like where it looked like the hot water tank is you might have to put in some lights and maybe build a plywood floor with support underneath if needed and some stairs and railing so you have good access. It would be a good area for storage or something different maybe like a small sitting area with a small kitchen, I guess you could always put some windows up there if needed as well . Also does the body shop use the area up above the lights with 3 weird plugs you could always do something with that small area if needed if you allowed. The shop looks great by the way but it seems like it needs a little tlc
I think your wife will appreciate the shower more than you. Plus, it will be nice to keep all that dirt and grime out of your truck.
Hell yeah man, that's awesome!
LOOKS GOOD RAY ITS YOURS NOW AND YOUR THE BOSS YOU CAN DO IT
i hope you get a bunch of business and it all works out real nice 🙂
Looks good.
RRR always enjoy your informative and entertaining videos , make the best of the situation get control of your own business. Stay Healthy
Hi Ray, looks good ,a bit of clean up and your own touch on it .don't forget your a great macanic just keep positive Ray all the very best Steve 🇬🇧
Those taped up wires are so adorable. Someone thought they would hold back the electrons.
Please let us crowd fun a shop for you to renovate or build.
When I move to my house in Cocoa I will come visit you.
This is so exciting
Congrats. Give em hell
Okey Señor, Sooo, when can we start watching the good stuff you do, amigo. Very much luck to you….👽👍
Happy for you Ray, does this mean youm won't be selling the kid's body parts any more – hahaha. Seriously, that's a really nice unit for a start-up, once you get a sparky to sort it all out for you it'll be really good. More power to your elbow lad, get it sorted and start pushing for customers – priority is to buld a customer base and with your YouTube subscribers you have the seeds of one already, assuming they live close enough. Me – no way pal, I'm in Thailand unless you do home calls lol.
For some reason im getting feelings of "GTA Online" when in the game you buy up a old property spend a load on fixing it up inside then using it to make money,,, Then some fool on a flying bike comes attacks you but that's a different story.
Ray as far as your shop goes, I think it gives ammo to the trolls when you DON'T want attention IRL. Then they give it to you. For some similar experience, the Car Care Nut recently opened his own shop and he's actually able to make good use of the publicity his youtube channel gives him rather than trying to hide it. I get that things with the internet could get weird so I just wanted to throw that out there in case it helps you
that shop looks great kinda jellous
The best of luck mate.
It's great.
Wouldn't be a bad idea to move the lifts away from the wall if it ends up being too tight of a squeeze behind it. Only two concerns i have was the water damage in the office section, and keeping the garage section cool with a fan of some sort. Florida heat is no joke.
Since this is your baby, are you going to share location and let your viewers within range come in for service? I would personally drive from new orleans to get maintenance done by someone whos integrity I already appreciate.
10 hours? must have flown the long way round!
Congrats on the new shop bro. I wish you were close to Philly👍🏽
Space above the office as additional storage and/or airflow space?!? Congrats on the new shop. Looks awesome!
Put a little lipstick on that pig and she'll be good to go… Seriously though, I see great potential and you could have a lot of fun making it your own. Congrats!
Looks great, good job. Nothing there you can't fix or make do with. Carry on!
Can tell that you're definitely tired because you didn't call out for your imaginary friend when the screen went dark lol.
Can't wait to see you doing repair work in your own shop already! That's awesome mate.
Yo poet dude, I'm super excited for you.
Lol, I was saying this as you sang that. That was weird.
I think it will work, you will definitely need an exhaust fan for both the heat and to help with the carbon monoxide from the cars so I would see about getting a quote for having one installed. The fuse box probably has some issues with code so if you have a friend who is an electrician I would send him some pictures on it and get an opinion. Other than that I don't see the shop having any other concerning problems
Try some real cars on the lifts to see in-out access before making move decisions. The big lift enters at an angle from the door. Might not be able to move the other back as much as you would think with a big truck on the other.
Nice Ray!
Just curious, can you park vehicles backwards on the lifts? If so you'd have plenty of room on the front for engine access. Best of luck with the new shop!
Ray I'm sorry there were so many folks who were butthurt that YOU got invited to SEMA and THET didn't. Oh well, they smell. 😝 This shop has a lot going for it. Wishing you the very best, may your days be ever sunny and bright.
😎😎
Definitely move the lifts back, there's not nearly enough room.
Great looking starter shop Ray! Looking forward to what's coming next.
My S10 could give you several months worth of video material.
Don't get rid of the bathroom chandelier. It's kinda funny since it doesn't really belong and I think that's cool.
First "camera gravity" in your new shop. Got that outta the way LOL let the games LOL My wife an I are looking forward to watching you grow..
Congrats ray this is awesome! Glad I guessed right..lol
One question tho cuz I didn’t see one…where’s the lobby ? Is there a place for customers to wait for quick repairs?
Curious about all the local licensing, certificates and regulations. I hope you have a professional assisting you !
Looks like you are off to a good start Ray. 👍🏻
What city is the new shop in?
The new chapter of adventure of joy begins, you're a winner, mate. No fears, build it and they will come! You're a go Geter. All the best.
Need an electrician in there, and drop down airlines check the roof is ok in the office that loose tape looking stuff is hiding something evil. There is a type of air conditioner that freezes water over night and then it circulates antifreeze through coils in the ice. The antifreeze then runs through a liquid to air exchanger to output the cold air. It's very efficient and doesn't affect the humidity in the shop.
I will say I kinda seen this coming good luck and I'm glad for you wish I had my own shop but I now work at AutoZone hope it goes well for you and that shop has potential
congrats…you'll do just fine…you are a very intelligent and honest oerson, those are 2 traits that are hard to find these days…good luck I look forward watching you grow your business…
No Risk No Reward.
Yes! 😃 😊
SWEET!!!
Liked all your videos, terrific to see the new products available -> have a terrific success
It's a nice space if you're working alone. Would probably get crowded if you had a crew.
It's YOUR shop now Ray, you can make it your own! Your decisions, nobody elses!
As long as you’re happy who cares what anybody else thinks at least you’re not working for nobody else
It looks good
Going to be great..!!! You got this brother!!!
I see potential.
Tell us the location Ray!!…like address..👍👍😎
Got to start some where you will make it work. what you going to call the shop???????
Onya! Ray Ray! (that's Aussie for: Good luck and God speed.)
hoping you have very good luck to you on your exciting adventure into the world of doing stuff for yourself. I can't wait until you are able to start making some repair videos again soon. While I know nothing about vehicles, i respect your knowledge in troubleshooting and being fair and up front. i will return back to my regularly scheduled lurking and liking your videos. 🙂
Hey if you had a good time then it was worth it cause you deserve a good time once in a while. Everyone needs a break.
That chandelier in the bathroom is a nice touch
Looks like a great place Ray.
