That rim is going to have trouble with a tubeless tire it looks like. 😀
I don't understand why two piece rims or bead lock rims are not more standard or more available for low pressure systems like lawn mower tires. Would make tire and tube changing soooo much easier.
OMG the vice grip trick!! Saved me some real frustration my friend – I was monkeying with this wheel for almost an hour; pair of vice grips and I was done in 2 minutes. Thank you!!
Sweet
Just bought one. tired of the three spoon chase, the bent rims and some times bent center shaft.
Cool I’m going to get won
Great tip with the vise grips, old tymer taught me that trick years ago at Sauls lawnmower shop in Woodstown nj when i worked there back as a youngster..great video and educational like usually Eric . 🤙🤘🤙
The vise grip was a good idea, and helped me. Thanks!
I missed the balancing part.
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Ok I cant figure out where are u located
made in china. American republic of china
That rim is the reason Sears is going out of business. People buying cheap to save money.
You really need The tube on that rim..Theres is a very real chance to Blow off The rim when filling it up.
never in my life have I changed a tire that size on a rim that clean haha
This be perfect for Atv’s or offroad Gokart tires.
that is not a tubeless rim
HELLOOOOOOO…DOLLY!
That made it way easier
How much do you charge to change a tire you have lots of tire work I don't see how you could make any money turn it over put in on from the other side
I get by with a threaded 1/2" rod through a hole in my benchtop – and tire spoons are WAY nicer than screwdrivers…
Wish I would of had one of those. I was a mechanic at a hardware. We had a $15000 zero turn we needed to prep real quick because a customer was on their way to pick it up. Upon removing the mower from the create, it was discovered the valve stem was damaged. We had to get a tube in quick. Zero turns are even smaller and designed for 50psi. We had to try and stretch the tube by hand. I was pulling down while another much heavier mechanic was pushing down. I ended up tearing a blood vessel in my wrist. It caused my Linate bone to die resulting in the bones on each side fracturing. Doctors took forever to properly diagnose. Fourth doctor knew exactly what it was and jumped on it. By then it became a salvage operation. They performed a proximal row carpectomy. They removed 3 bones or what was left of three bones. I lost most of my movement and my ability to push with the hand. I gained most of my grip strength and I can pull things OK. Now I'm 41yrs old and not sure how I'm going to provide for my family. Really sucks, I loved being a small engine mechanic, fixing things is just in my nature. I was able to do a break job on my 2014 Corolla and my 06 E-350 superduty van. Couldn't use my hand for 2 days after, but it felt so good to get it accomplished. Thank God for my old impact tools!🤣😂
The Pittsburg handjob. Thats gold😂👍
Useful video. I have one of those changers, but I never thought of just removing the base to clamp it in the vice. Thanks for the tip. I find the worst part about changing lawn tractor tires is getting the dang things to pop up on the bead, especially the rears.
isn't that cute
If you would've used the red installation bar you wouldn't have bent the rim.
Use the red installation bar it works good .lol
I have one of those mini mounting/dismounting tools and the dismounting tools were useless. The wheels spun on the holder both mounting and dismounting.
I have this same tire changer and have used it for a number of years. Only thing I have done to it is I cut a piece of oak pallet to slide into the base so when I clamp it down tight in the vice the wood keeps the casting from collapsing. I drill a small hole on the side and run a screw into the wood so it won't fall out unless I want it out.
I usually use a 12 inch 1/2" drive extension clamped in a vice. That doesn't make it any easier.
If you used the tool that comes with it, it would have taken you 1/10 the time and effort and you wouldn't have f'ed up the rim.
Hi, SMAP. You made me think of the guy with two kids who wanted to be stargazers. The guy goes to the hobby shop and buy a pair of binoculars, goes home, takes them apart and gives each kid a new telescope. We, sort-a. You also remind me of the guy who know how to drive a 4 speed manual transmission 4 Dr. Ford, who is asked if he can drive a Ferrari, and says "Sure. It's just a manual transmission, right?" You lost me when you refused to read the manual on a new tool. Would you actually teach your son how to use a new tool without referencing the manual? Then you actually bent the wheel by using vice grips. Why did this happen? Because you insisted on putting the new tool in a vice when it should be bolded down. If you had bolted it down and used the tools that came with the new tool, and followed the directions, you would not have used the vice grips, or bent the wheel. And last, you used a vice on an aluminum casting. You couldn't lock it down because you would have crushed it. This vid is a good example of the concept of "Sunk Costs." By not reading the manual you tried to use your old methods to replace the wheel. As each effort drove you deeper into the eror, you refused to make a change in course by saying, "Oops. I should read the directions." You made an easy job into a chore. You ended up doing more work than otherwise. So, you're stubborn and know a lot. Fine. Next time, read the instructions. Thanks for sharing! Stay Healthy!
stupid
I’d say that was a big FAIL. THat wheel was trashed.
Sometimes it take 80 minutes changing those ¥π÷¢£
I find a coat of old thick rustoleum makes a good bead sealer
Should have balanced the tire
Jk
Let's be honest: you lost money on that job
That's the cutest little tire changing machine!
Ha ha ha…😁
allways take small bites with tire spoon
Try using the tools that came with it dumbass, they work. I use that machine a lot and have never bent a wheel.
I dont feel so bad for not being able to fix my little lawn tractor tires now. I thought it was just me! Sad brake parts cleaner made no appearance but ya cant have everything
or you could use solid rubber tires
I get my fat friend to jump on em.
the rims on our riding mower are a heavy gauge steel, I had one tire go flat,
bought an inner tube, I couldn't get the tire back on, took it a near by tire shop.
👍👍😀🇨🇦
use the tool it came with works real good
Let’s see you do a tire change for a Goldwing motorcycle. You will run out of profanity in no time.
Pretty sure those spacers are to keep you from having to screw that thing all the way down the threaded rod. That was the most needlessly time-consuming part of your whole process.
