In a previous video I diagnosed and fixed a faulty fuel injector on this 2001 Nissan Frontier XE. The customer also stated that her blower motor only worked on high. This usually indicates a bad blower resistor. Let's see if that is the case this time. -Enjoy!

Thank you for this! I have a similar issue… On my 2006 Pathfinder LE the fan speed is High for all settings; auto, 1, 2, 3 & 4 & off works so essentially only settings are off or on High. Any suggestions? Thx! john
Thanks for the help!
Hi buddy, really enjoyed your video's. I have a 99 qx4, a lot of things replaced but still has a hard start and a ruff idle. Any thoughts? Thanks
Very helpful. Thank you very much. A quick 5 minute fix.
Hey what if both blower motor fuses are out and the blower still works on hi but not on 123 only works on 4 and no fuses are in please help
Good video man, thank you
Quick question here, once you've unplugged the cord from the resistor, will the blower still turn on high? If not, then I found the wrong cord!
Thanks, I was about to buy another dash climate control assembly!
good video, thanks
what was the fix?
Will also affect it from the climate change as well..
Hmmm. Mine works on all but #2. Must be a resistor….?
Second time watching 5/24/2020
Bro my nissan has exactly same problem I wanna say thank u u basically showed me how to read a diagram and fix my ac switch from hawaii much aloha 🤙👌
This is how all mechanic videos should be done.
I had an 04 Frontier XE 4X4 where blower motor only worked on 3 & 4 on switch .Yes it was the Resistor . It was an over all decent truck mechanically. The electronic components of the vehicle in contrast where of questionable quality .
Nice video, where do you get electrical diagrams
At least on this vehicle you had easy access. Years ago I changed one on a mid-90's Silverado. It was located in a vertical slot behind the glove box. The slot was as long as the box but only about 2 inches high. I ended up with a old screwdriver newly bent into a "L" shape and prayed the hold down screws weren't seized up. I didn't have a noise maker when I tested the switch's 3 positions but I did have a test bulb that shined some light on everything. Good video! Bad old memories.
Thumbs up for bonus video
First I thought what short repair video:(
But then you said…Bonus video,
Like always great repair!!!
Cleaning the old resistor might have worked too.
It would be very interesting to see if you could get some of the Ivan’s vehicles done faster, some of his work is unbelievably impressive, he does some of the nastiest repairs ever but you Sir put out most incredible service with top quality work in the industry 👍
Learn something new everyday..good content..
Great video and I've learned to count to four thanks!!!; )
Love the video. I have always assumed that with only the high value working on the blower motor that is was the relay not working. If the 1,2,3 & 4 speed were not working it was the motor or the switch. NOW I have learned how to test the BM relay to rule out the stitch. AWSOME!!. BTW I do all my work in the driveway, servicing my Family members cars. I own 3 and with 5 kids and son & daughter inlay and 2 parents of mine and my wife and a sister, my driveway seams to keep pretty full with oil changes, tune ups, valve jobs, brakes, engine swap-outs, and a multitude of electrical problems. I love doing the investigation part. I love learning new ways that you are teaching me to work on cars. You are making me smarter, faster and been slowly buying tools (like my whole life) to make my job easier. I know this may sound like BS but Thank You for the work you do…then spending all that time to produce a video to pass along the things you run into, and passing on your smarts to us. What you do……and how you do it are funny, smart and most importantly, you talk at a level that we ( or I) can understand and intern, use in our endeavors to remedy problems that we run into as we work on cars. I've been doing all my repairs myself since I was 15. Never could, 1 afford that cost of another person working on my poop boxes of a vehicle and, 2 when I could afford it, I never trusted the repair done, because I didn't do it myself. Over the past 40 years I have purchased ( as cost and time allowed), many tools to do the job better, safer, and in a more professional manner. Now with your video's, I can add that to my arsenal, and bring to bare, a smarter me to help me get the job done. Again, Thank You, from my Family…..to yours
Speed 1……2…….3…….4….Liftoff
Having a similar issue with my 98 Ford Windstar minivan. Would it be the blower motor in that case?
I went to a mechanic once and they were like it’s the ac/heat control unit I was like oh And I went home and was like bullshit lol replaced the resistor
Thermal fuses in the blower resistor are just like ones I find bad in stuff I service, microwave ovens, fans, coffee makers, and other such items, usually find no problems that account for the failure, these just seem to be notorious for failing for no reason especially on high current drain items such as coffee makers or heaters
If this were a Silverado, then it'd be a dying fan motor.
Super annoying noise, But!! Super informative as usual. Nice job. I'd like to get a power probe, been chasing a bad ground on my jeep. Think I got it narrowed down though. Finally. Thanks for the videos you do a great job explaining things like this.
Thanks for "grounding" me with this lesson!!
Does the NAPA store nag at you about your abnormally high amount of new returns and installed items returned as new….hahahahahahah….just kidding.
Eric, glad I came to your videos late – by like 4 yrs. This way I don't have to wait for a new one to come out, I still have a lot of catching up to do. Loving every minute of it. From all that I have seen thus far, I'd say you are not just a mechanic, you are a mechanical engineer. You certainly have the mind of one. I hereby bestow upon you an honorary degree. Well, I don't have that authority, but if I did. 😉
Nice work as always 😎👌👍👍
How would you diagnose a problem similar to this, but opposite, where as your blower motor works in positions 1,2,and 3, but in position 4 there is no noticeable change to fan speed from the 3rd position?
You talk too much Eric, unsubscribing….
What’s the best sites to find wiring diagrams?
If you get a Ford Focus Se 2014 for a 2015 with power problems check the main wiring harness it could be wires broke off I just went through the trouble of looking for and find wires broke off
Whats your favorite restaurant in town or near by?
Thank you for the teachings.
Thanks buddy , always a thumbs 👍👍👍👍 up video!!
I dont know about excesive amp flow but they often fail because of insufficent air flow accross them due to blocked vents or partialy seized fan. Causing them to overheat…
now, why did the resistor burn out. the often over looked part of the job.
Follow it downtown, Charlie Brown.
In the past 2 weeks I replaced my 99 f250 blower resistor and on the second drive the resistor blew again. I got a new resistor and new blower and all is well. The old blower ran fine on high but turned really hard off vehicle.
sure beats eric the stoned car guy, and danner the rambler scanner, at least we get to the point, diagnose, show how, and repair. Its that simple. thanks for showing everybody the friendly, proper,no bull, no ramble, no super science, no rocket science way to fix typical things on everyday repairs.
Napa, not a sponsor. They should be with a quarter million viewers.
I know this don't go with the video but I have a Subaru Forester 2000 and I want to put a amp in the car but don't know where the ground it plz help thank
good there was no scarfs , gloves , mittens stuck in the blower .
