In this video I figure out why this 2009 Mitsubishi Outlander is blowing warm air out of the vents. Just FYI , I talked to the customer, they said to fix it so the parts are on the way. Be sure and stay tuned for part 2 "The Repair"

50..50.. chances. …..not bringing my stuff to you….
Very easy Diag On the Finding the Clutch and Field being bad Good Video As Always Eric O @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
Good video and diagnostics, I just happened to put a new clutch assembly on Honda Odyssey today. With no low priced clutch assembly available then I would also go with the aftermarket AC assembly.
I have 2011 outlander 2.4l AWD . I am about to be mechanic because of the problems of this vehicle.
Thank you the great video!
AC (clima) on my Outlander working only when car is cold and working only 10 min. In that time compressor going on and off such as fan also. Intervals between on and off are 30 sec. (cca). After 9 min fan working all the time but compressor don´t wanna go on and stays like that. Some ideas ???
My car had the ac problem….basically the compressor wasnot engaging…after some tests we found that the has escaped and so the ecu wasnot turning on the comressor irrewpective of switch position…we found the leak…it was the low pressure pin that was leaking…it was a dollar …finaly we refilled the gas and everything wqs fine
What’s the white hose for ? The 2017 has a different casing and the replacement came with a white hose instead. It’s working fine but The white hose is just hanging there now. Is it that big of a deal?
Hey I’m looking for answers on why a 2015 outlander would have ac issues while driving but not while idling/parked when in idle ac pressure stays steady if it is reved up pressure drops causing compressor to shut off then pressure rises to turn back on. What is the issue
HI friend. i need your help . can you please help me to tell me how to change spark plug on mitsubsh outlander instyle xls 2007. 2.2 D-D? If you can show me or send me some plan or guide me how to do it? i will be very thankful. thanks
I have an issue 14 months later after replacing the Compressor last year. Darn thing is almost $1200 bucks from the dealer bought new.
3 years later Ms. Hannah has gone from "the girl in the car" to a channel favorite.
Thanks for the video.
Mines don't turn on, use to make noise,my year is 2003 which one do I buy,ac/heater blower, OR heater blower
Is there a video, or could you tell, what could be the cause of the following A/C problem with my Outlander 2011 : When moving knob for cool air below my feet or by the windshield it works okay, but when requiring cool air from the front panel vents there is almost nothing of air flow. Thanks in advance, Arturo.
that questions for Eric O
what would it be if you jump the clutch and it runs but once you disconnect the clutch stops and the compressor wines real loud but then stop wines so got the clutch to start but then it stops is it the clutch or compressor cause compressor runs then we jumped the clutch and it starts
Very thorough man. Most shops would have just checked freon pressure and if good told the lady "yeah you need a complete compressor assembly" without testing OR looking around for aftermarket clutch kits for her.
I can't tell you , even as a man, when I was younger how many different shops would lie or not properly troubleshoot and just throw parts at a problem. That is why I taught myself how to fix cars.
Wish you were local I'd use you for some repairs as I am older now, have no lift, and my body is falling apart on me.
WooW Good Job 😉 You Rock Man
GREAT JOB I AM GETTING MY DONE ON MY 1999 CADILLAC DEVILLE
why the preference for scan tools rather than laptop versions?
mitsubishi outlander 2004.memory on the dasfboard
84! I dream of 84 degrees in August, usually it's 95-105 degrees here in tx
@South Main Auto Repair – we need the refrigerant drained in order to replace the leaking receiver dryer. Will any auto repair shop do it, and what's a normal price? Any other options? Thanks!
Nice diagnostics on the clutch Eric with a good explanation in your thinking process. On to part 2…
Eric, plain and simple, you need a syndicated TV show………….Your far better than some of those yahoo's on tv now.
10K subscribers! Congratulations!!!
Have you ever screwed up that screwdriver(pun unintended) clutch method and launched it across the garage? We could make a reality show out of that one.
10k subs…moving on up! I bet you didn't think the channel would grow like this.
Thank God no jackass went to town pumping that system full of refrigerant from their local parts store. You would be surprised at how many things on a modern system can be diagnosed without manifold gauges. You would certainly feel stupid to "hang parts" when the entire time the freakin ac clutch relay has an open coil, LOL. Now Eric, get back to work….
Why are main dealer parts so expensive ? Surely in the interest of good customer relations with an eye to future purchases, the price tag should be reasonable.
sure you mean the lady is hot because her ac isnt working….
1989 Buick Century. A/C works, but it only puts out cold air on the passenger side, warm humid comes out of the drivers vents. HELP!
This is why my 73 Dodge W100 doesn't have A/C………………………….I prefer my 2 wing/65 A/C…………..All of you old timers will know exactly what I mean…LOL
what wiring diagram do you use? Mitchel on demand? on mine everything is black and white, the wires are not color like yours if you are using Mitchel how do I get it to show in color?
Congrats great videos, I see you are almost at 10,000 subscribers you should do a special. Best mechanic on YouTube, wish your shop was in NYC!!!!
@South Main Auto Repair I also agree too that you minest well replace the whole compressor incase later down the road it self decides to fail or something of that nature. Hopefully there is a part 2 to this car. I can't believe it cost that much to replace the compressor on this car or clutch.
Hi Eric re your comment about the cost of OEM parts. Car manufacturers worked out long ago the most profitable side of the business is spare parts. No money to be made selling cars these days, just slug the buyer when its time for OEM parts. They get you in the end. The rust belt of North America is obviously very profitable! Cheers
The scope on the rope saves the day! I just did a similar diagnosis on my Mazda 3. All the circuits where getting power but when I jumped the ac clutch nothing happens no click, nothing. Time for a new clutch hope I can find one on the aftermarket. Your video was a great help! Thanks as always!!
Coming up on 10k subscribers Eric, Wonder if you got anything planned for the occasion?
At your current rate you are going to hit that in 12-18 days. EDIT: Oh wait, make that 2-3 days… I got that all backwards…
I had the exact same scenario in this video on my 1993 Miata except my "refrigerant temperature switch" was bad. I looked into wiring diagrams and the switch was no where to be found. Apparently they come built in the compressors and are non-serviceable. My solution? I cut the power wire in to the switch and the power wire out of the switch and connected them together. First try after that and the A/C clutch kicked on and out the vents came ice cold air. I had the car 3 years prior to this with no A/C and finally got around to looking into it. I can't believe that was all the problem was and that my car still has the original R12 system going strong. Sure one day the consequences of that switch not being in line could come to haunt me, but I would have had to replace the compressor anyway to fix the switch.
A "scorcher" in NY at 84 in the shop??? Absolutely frigid. Yeah, I know….the push back is y'all walking around in short sleeves at zero degrees, while people down south break out artic parkas….
Eric is less than 100 subscribers from the big 10,000 mark. Come on viewers, let's push him over the hump!
I agree, smart move would be replace the compressor. Plus that way I get to see your AC machine again in the next video. THAT THING ROCKS!
I do believe you came up with the best solution for repair.
great videos. its august 5 2015 and its 102 degrees here in Kaufman TX(45miles SE of Dallas). Stay cool.
The compressor bearing on my 96 GC was growling so I thought I would just replace the bearing then realized I had to remove rivets so I returned it and bought a complete compressor on ebay for 100.00 rebuilt one, put some oil in and it was fine. Like you think sometimes easier to change the entire unit and HOPE it was checked thoroughly for rebuilding- You give good step by step diagnosis
Nice diagnostics, they will be a part 2..c u there..
84? Get your butt to San Antonio – see how that sits with you…
Thats the problem with rebuilt products. You get a lifetime warranty but end up changing them out every two years. Im too old for that. New stuff for me.
