In this video I go through the process of replacing a front wheel bearing and brakes on a Pontiac G6 GT. Pretty easy job... even when the snow salt and slush is dripping on you ๐ -Enjoy!

Never ever get tired of watching brake and bearing jobs. You always make it look so easy! Please keep them coming. You are now a part of my morning and evening routine.
The rotor is garbage. Put it on backwards and give it a whack with a 10 pound sledge. What brand of bearing do you like? Moog? Timken? I did my brakes on my 06 Caravan I bought last year. The rotors were a rusted mess as well as the calipers. Of course the pads were welded to the bracket. Find out that the washers did not come with the calipers. Almost impossible to find the matching washers. Live and learn.
How did you diagnose that this wheel bearing was bad? I have the same car and I have a grinding noise coming from the wheel on acceleration that goes away after a few seconds. I can't determine from sound alone if it's the wheel bearing or the cv axle.
We had a 1980-something Dodge Caravan. EVERY TIME we had anything done to it, it needed new CV boots and a catalytic converter. Every damned time.
I'm still a fan though.
No files on brake parts.
I love how big nasty just makes it rain shmuts all over the place…
Pontiwhowhat??
I didn't know you could polish rust! Love your channel!!
do you like that purple permatex better than the 3m silicone grease or is it a price thing?
any reason you don't use copper anti seize instead of the fluid film for an aluminum knuckle? btw, what do you think of blue loctite on the 3 hub bearing bolts?
i would have no idea if i'm going too far with the die grinder. can you get a real tight shot of the surface as you're doing it?
Had to laugh a little bit at Eric in this one. That wire wheel almost got him haha. Been there and have done it.
I love the โbreak clean newsโ (breaking news) stinger. Lol
A long time ago a old mechanic I worked with schooled me on how to properly use a file and that was to not drag back it backwards and never use a wire brush to clean a file. You did it right according to him. Good video!
These wheel bearings are a bear without pneumatic tools- air support is a godsend!
The modular nature of GM bearing packs is a neat engineering solution to me.
Hi Erik, fun to see how you do this with brakes and wheel bearings. There is a big difference between the USA and Europe and Scandinavia in how this is done. We do not have extra rails in the caliper holder. Love from Norway.
nothing is hard to do.if you can do it ,I can do it lol
I'm not sure if big nasty rattled the hub off of the car or the car off of the hub๐คฃ
I thought the brake cleaner sound effect was mandatory, but I've watched several videos that were all electrical repairs lately. Surely there is a way to fit it in!
If I had Big Nasty I think I could do that job. As far as wheel bearing jobs go that was a walk in the park.
This camera doesn't minimize shake as much as your recent camera and the colors are off compared to this one looks like everything is more green for what it's worth!
thousands of auto youtubers from all southern USA need to work atleast a week with SMA in rust belt upstate NY for real world experiences. especially chrisfix and scotty๐๐๐
That was a close one on the wire wheel Iโve done that a time or two! Couldnโt help but to laugh tho! Great job as always Dr. O keep them coming!!
Thank you I need a little toot brake clean peace out
A 4lb sledge knocked the hub off my 2011 Malibu pretty quick
I really like how you make it a point to always mention cleaning the caliper bracket. As resident of the upper peninsula of Michigan, I understand rust. The last few years I've found a needle scaler works awesome for caliper bracket rust removal. If course, your mileage may vary
Pull out big nasty and give er the beans!
October and already hitting it hard with the road salt.
Damn, you guys have enough snow already out there to have that much salt on vehicles!?!? I better get going on my fluid film undercoat lol
Good job
scotty kilmer
Yeah man, this nuttin better n the smell of brake cleen floattin in th air early ina mornin. Jesus doan git no better…. Greetings from the deep south. Loves yer vids. Look forward to new ones (or old) all the time. Greetings from Nastyville, Tennisshoe! God bless you and yours and hope yawl stay safe and healthy in these screwed up times…See Ya!!!…
Itโs a foot operated stopping press. Must clean the surface of the hammer surger ๐๐คฃ.
Do you use silicone grease in your electrical connections, or something similar ?
Ohhh Big Nasty, you make my life so much easier. ๐๐๐บ๐ธ
brake related videos are my FAV!! haha
Milwaukee for cordless tools. just sayin'
About the caliper grease- is there a reason you put it between the caliper and shim hardware as opposed to between the pad and shim?
Detail in the picture seems much better with this camera.
what kind of gloves are those ?
Camera good. Salty, drippy car disgusting. I don't know how you guys in the Northeast deal with that mess every winter. I guess it's better than garbage trucks in July, lol.
I like your new camera it works good you do good work too
"No Extra Labor Involved"….unless you're around my area in SE Michigan. Mechanics here tend to say "Brakes are $x, Wheel Bearing is $Y, and Ball Joint is $Z…ask what it would be if I did all three at once? EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM…"$X + $Y + $Z"….yep…they "f you at the places around me"… ๐
I have G6 seemed like 90% of the bolts for 15 and 13 mm
Camera colors are so much better
Why is it when you buy a bearing it always says never use an impact gun but always see mechanics use them
Before you all get excited this video is from over two years ago. Somehow it was sitting in my YouTube cue but never got published!? Oh well…. better late than never I say ๐
