Thanks!
Very useful.
I've had good success with wire nuts and liquid electrical tape for the whole. Park it upright. Great attitude and videos!
cant have to much greese, i do what u do. u do what i do. we cant both be wrong lol, good stuff.
u left the scotch clips on, oh boy oh boy, peoples gonna give you grief… good job, as always (ish) lol.
Eric, today is 5/20/2022. You may not read this post after 7 years of making the video but I would like to say I thoroughly enjoyed listening to your childhood stories while you showed us how to replace the breaks/bearing on our trailer axles. This is why I contribute to your Patreon account. Even thought it may be a very minimal amount, I am showing my appreciation. Did you see the the little kids car in the background? Probably your daughters. I hope it brought it back back good memories. Thanks for doing what you do. Ben
The most important you never talked about SAFTY GLASSES😆
We're are your safety glasses
Drop the stupid candy jokes. Once was enough!
I agree 100% about wire connectors
very good video, great job, thanks for putting in the extra time!
GREAT video! Glad to see your technique for extra grease in hub.. I use about same amount.
Love your story’s being a retired master mechanic we all had our homemade go carts and mini bikes and just a bicycle with a chainsaw motor on it
paka da bearing old school lost art
You are right about the poor quality of the trailers when leaving the factory! Our brand new trailer never had the axel turned to align our tires to go in a straight line! And this was on a single axel trailer! I never knew that the axel is actually a little bit bent into a U shape so that the tires tow in or out as the axel is rotated!
The new brakes have a lot less meat for pad material than I thought! How long will they last?
Perfect video. Now I can do the brakes on my tandem axle car trailer.
Great video ! Really appreciate your explanation and guidance 👍
Eric…..I must congratulate you on your professionalism, content and ability to lure us all into your blogs'. You have really improved in presentation – you should try for a job on the news channel, (not NBC though) Pete Somerset, UK
Thanks for doing this!
Well whenever you do your wheel bearings you need to fill that capful because centrifical Force after several hundred miles that bearing will go dry cuz centrifical force will all that Greece will end up in your Hub in the center if that caps not. And I know that for a fact I've been doing a little bears forever but I love your show anyway think about it since your uncle Forrest run those bearings drive without greasing the cap
Thank you very much!
thx eric for your info and taking time to help others
I usually need to watch a dozen videos before i feel i have a grasp of whats needed to do a job properly. You do one stop videos, everything needed to know in one source. Thank you.
I haven't packed a set of bearings for about 30-years, but want to repack my utility trailer (with brakes) bearings this coming Summer. Thank you for the refresher course.
Can’t believe you’re still dragging the air hose . Time for your choice of a battery ratchet tool .
Agreed, trailer wiring is crap from mfg. When I purchased my last trailer I cleaned up the layout and installed split conduit over wiring and secured every 10 inches.
Thanks. Just got a job on a haulmark trailer and wasn’t sure how to go about it. Was browsing around for a video because Alldata wasn’t much help. This will be easier for me and cheaper for the customer than replacing shoes and hardware. This helped immensely, thanks again. Love all your videos.
Scotch locks are junk and horrible seen tons of Electrical Problems and Even few fires because of them Eric O I agree there Junk @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
Lmfao at your throat being dry after the candy Noooo Don't eat the candy Eric O 🤣 😂 great video as always @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
Excellent video. Just exactly what I needed to verify that what I had figured. Big help and a lot of reassurance.
If you get a vibration table and mount some containers with lids to it, it works great for cleaning bearing and getting the smallest particles out.
Four packs of free candy. U R lucky!
A new segment entitled "solvent tank talk"
We just bought a 2016 Casita travel trailer and I wanted to familiarize myself with the braking and bearing setup. Your video was just the ticket. I've watched, learned and enjoyed many of your other videos. Thank you!
GREAT video! The right amount of content, detail, and commentary. I like how you didn’t assume that the viewer knows how to do every step and not include that part of the process. This is probably one of the best instructional videos I’ve watched. It may be too detailed for expert mechanics but for those of us that don’t replace trailer brakes and bearings every day, this video was fantastic! Thanks for producing it. I’m a subscriber now.
Great video. Thanks!
From Barriere British Columbia, as always a fine show, thanks Eric
Is the driver's side the left? I was wondering if you look at it from the rear of the trailer?
Been a long time since I have packed wheel bearings.
And I have used scotch locks. Reason, simple, quick, easy and cheap. And they were a short term temporary fix that worked. I know they are not permanent nor are they the greatest. But they got me lights and back on the road. (I had bought a 50 year old boat and the trailer lights did not work. The wiring was crumbled and I just bought a cheapie trailer wire kit and some lights, and a roll of white wire to use as a ground wire. 20 minutes later and I had fully functional bright well grounded lights and I was on the road home.
What great about scotch locks is you can use them without crimpers or pliers. A couple of rocks picked up off the ground can make for a surprisingly simple and effective set of tools.
What do you keep in your cleaning tub?
Great video, i am replacing the brakes on a 20 ft trailer i built about 25 years ago and this video was helpful and entertaining also thank you.
I did this on my 2006 5th wheel toyhauler camper.
I found that the complete backing plate/ electromagnet /brake shoe assembly was only $10.00 more than just replacing the brake shoes.
For an extra $40.00 you got all new stuff.
Gotta love that brake cleaner. It'll get 'ya high enough to go duck hunting with a rake. :-D)
Another awesome very informative video, thank you Eric for sharing your expertise. 👍❤
Понятно теперь . а я думаю как это устроенно. чтоб на свой прицеп так сделать тормоз
A great video, super helpful. Enjoyed the side commentary.
