In this video I show you how I replaced the struts in the rear of a 2001 Ford Taurus Sedan. We used quick struts in this video, the process is similar for strut cartridges except you'd have to swap over the springs using appropriate tools and equipment. Refer to your shop manual for the proper procedure when repairing your car.

Great Video, I just did a 95 GL without fear.
Don't see these Vintage Ford Taurus Much Even Around me in Az anymore good video Eric O @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
Man what a pain in the ass this is gonna suck
Great video. Enjoy all your videos. Here in the Michigan rust belt we feel your pain. I need to replace the struts and wheel bearings on my mother-laws 05 Taurus. Thanks for the insight. I’ve done the wifes Malibu. The Taurus shouldn’t be to bad pending on rust. Thanks again
Now this is a proper garage if I do say so myself. Ahhh…the benefit of power tools and a lift…lol
what a frigin mess to have to go through to change struts and what an engineering debacle by Ford!
It more work just to do top rear mounts than on the lower side. Your right about the trunk. It would be easier there
I know it's been years but just a little fact on the bolt/screw that type is called self tapper and the other you described is called self drilling why one verses the other the tapper won't leave much metal shavings if any and the driller will leave a bunch of shavings. Just a FYI…Larry
I can easily see and get to the four bolts that remove the back seat back rest. So I am wondering. Why is it necessary to remove the bottom portion of the seat?
awesome job,
I'd love to purchase one of those little ratchets. What kind is it and where can I get one?
H D IS FAB!!!
“Where we rode while we was kids” hahaha hell yea
HD IS AWESOME 🤩 ERIC….. THANKS
omy Thought this was the latest one until I heard ….then I almostt spit my beer back in my can,,,, also good to see the ol cap is still holdin up after 6 years. (dont make them like they used to I tell you)
3000 subs 🤣, few more now Eric. Like the work you do, smart guy, nice family business.
Brilliant!👊
Eric's pleased with 3,000 subscribers. Could you imagine telling him then in just a few years he's going to have 554,000 subscribers? I think he'd call you nuts, you were pulling his leg.
keep it much better
Done many of them Taurii, and can tell you, that in about 10 more years them hinges between your hip and your feet will keep you from being so damned ginger climbing around the inside of the car.
JEEP just empty everybody's pocket!!!!!
That pen was South Carolina.
What was the torque specs for the pinch bolts and the 3 back seat bolts if you could give me this information I'd really appreciate it cuz I got to do this job tomorrow.
Like your videos, have helped me save alot of money. The h.d. is great to. Let me know where you got the air ratchet from. Thanks again and keep them coming.
as a former knuckle-dusters I know what you mean ! love the HD.

Heard those Monroe struts are garbage. Just wondering if anyone can confirm
Muy bueno gracias
Leave it to Ford to create that design. Fire all Ford engineers LOL
Would you like a NC tag to.lut in your wall? I noticed you had a couple on the wall. Just asking!!
Always loved your style Eric. The jobs done right the first, every time.
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍GOSH HE'S SO 🔥 🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤🤤💦
i seen in other you tube videos they add the new strut bar link to the new rear struts before installing the new struts ,, does it make it harder to install the strut bar
what would charge for the job ?
As always awesome, no room for mediocrity. Thanks for sharing. Kindest regards. Joe.
My 751,000 mile 2003 taurus ses with almost all original equipment, replaced front wheel bearings at about 600,000 miles, but engine and transmission, struts, ball joints, etc… are all original, never rebuilt. While watching video, I say to myself that I should change those parts, but after watching, I say if it's not broke ! Don't fix it ! Going for the one million !
I have to do this for my 03 ford taurus ses the struts are leaking oil and creaks when I drive around but can't afford to get them I could probably do the work myself but I just can't afford it
Love that mini air ratchet, Love all your videos! Your awesome
How long it take real time to do this job?..just curious..
Typical Ford sedan repair procedure: First remove a section of interior.
PS: I've owned and worked on nothing but Fords since since before I graduated from high school. Forty five years ago.
Apparently Ford were replacing those if the spring breaks before 150k miles.
