I am starting to sweat because I need to empty this parking lot. That's right, we've got waiting for pickup, waiting for parts, waiting to get towed, waiting for me to bring that to my house. That's the little red chinesium thing waiting for more parts? uh I don't know about that charger waiting for parts, waiting for approval and some parts waiting for pickup. uh, waiting to give that py Cruiser away in a raffle later on, waiting for the scrapyard.

and I need to diagnose one more thing on the this: Canadian You guys remember this one did a couple videos on this last week. This is a Canadian Chevrolet Silverado 1500 two wheel drive. Which is weird because I wouldn't think you would want a two wheel drive vehicle in the land of ice and snow, but this is a a rare vintage two wheel drive Silverado from the great white north land of Canadia Anyway, customers stated that uh, it has a lean to it. like they they said that one side is squatting down more than the other side.

So what I'm going to do here? We're going to go ahead and uh, back this thing into the service Drive awning area and I'm going to bust out a tape measure and we're going to measure the ride height at the center arch of the wheel wells and we're going to see uh, what's going on with the suspension on this truck. So stay tuned because this is going to be a very good video uping. The Hood Look who that guy is. All right.

let's get this thing backed out inserting key beginning engine restarting sequence now. Nice restart. It's been like a week. This particular vehicle still has 288,000 kilomet on the odometer.

Uhoh I'm running low on octane. Oh no. So I have had mentioned previous videos on this truck? Uh, just as a reminder, we had done some AC work to it. We found that the AC belt tensioner was corroded and locked up and it would not apply tension to the Belt uh that was causing the belt to slip while driving and it would make this horrendous squealing noise from the belt slip action.

And consequently the compressor would not turn. Since the compressor would not turn, it was not generating any pressure. so we repaired tensioner, got the compressor to turn but it still wasn't making adequate pressure. The thing was making like 52 uh at the center vent on an 80 day.

so that was that was a 30 temperature drop and that was nowhere near sufficient. uh to Uh Supply Adequate cooling to the cabin. So what we had found since the compressor was underperforming. uh after we fixed the belt situation that uh, it in fact did need an AC compressor which was replaced.

It also had a bunch of misfires I found very very worn out spark plugs. we replaced the steering shaft I think I put some front brakes on it. We did some backing plates uh, we smeared never Seas all over everything. that way it wouldn't rust in the great white Northland of Canadia and uh, there was something else I think I did and I don't remember H what's my list? Tell me no, that's pretty much all of it I think I think the last thing.
oh, we did a rear diff service on it I changed the uh, the flu in the rear end. uh but the last thing we need to pay attention to is this r height discrepancy. So like I said, I'm going to go fetch a tape measure and we're going to measure out the front and rear ride height on this semif flattish surface. So here's the problem with tape measures: I have like a thousand of them and I I don't really ever know where they are at any given point in time I think I relocated them into my uh, my packout box over here cuz I try to keep that stuff separated from like mechanic tools because they, uh, it's a different genre of tool I think I threw it all in this box.

Aha yes, yes, look there got a boatload on. There's two of them. Nice. Okay, so what we're going to do.

We're going to take our tape measuring device and we're going to check ride height. Let's do the fronts first here so that's going to go on the ground. We're going to pass through the center cap and right here we're roughly let's call it 32 and A4 I know I'm slightly off, but we're going to go in/ qu in increments 33 and2 Okay this one here looking like 34 and 3/4 of an inch and this one 34 and a qu. so that's a/2 in off.

Interesting, it's a/ in on the rear Okie do so. We do seem to have some kind of a lean on this suspension. It is going this way. a 1/ in to 3/4 in.

You can visually see it right here. It's not level. the ground is fairly levish. I Mean there is a slight tilt here, but uh, we do have some sagging action going on on this side.

Uh, let's go take it out on the road and see how it feels while we drive. All right, let's back on out of here and go listen for, uh, any suspension stuff and then we can get this thing back in the air. and uh, take a look for anything. We'll look for some smashed bushings.

uh, maybe something loose, a broken ubolt or something on the leaf spring. uh, sagging Springs broke Springs anything. It's definitely suspension because we should have a decent ride height and we do not maneuvering through here. we're going to run over over and hit those tracks at a little bit of speed.

see if we can't hear anything. Feel anything? There's our train tracks coming up. Yeah. felt a little jittery.

all right. So I was just turning around and I I feel bad I didn't have the uh, the camera rolling. but as I went to turn around I came to a stop in that parking lot there and I heard a bunch of Tink Tink Tink like metallic clicks. So I think something is loose I don't know if that's the reason for the ride height, but I did hear a clinky sound.

Let's try these tracks one more time. All speed, maximum allowable legal speed achieved. Whoa. Trash! Cannon The Rad.

Oh no thanks dude, we have a an El Nino storm coming. I Guess the wind is up, the palm trees are swaying, it's colder outside and the uh, the interwebs tell us that there's a an El Nino weather phenomenon approaching which is uh, it's going to recre hav it on our Florida climate. I Don't know if we're prepared for these high winds, let's get the gate. Oh you know what? Speaking of gates, everybody keeps telling me to leave this gate open and sometimes folks come by like locals and they want work done and they said they see that the gate is closed and there's a sign that says no trespassing on the other side of the gate and they think that I'm I'm not back here.
um I am back here. The problem is is you see all these cars everywhere. Not all these are mine. These are owned by other businesses.

There's a fellow over there working. There's a whole another company over there. There's me over here, and then there's a whole another company over here and we all jointly kind of use this parking lot. now.

some of the vehicles in this lot those are impound Vehicles those are insurance job vehicles and those need to be secured at all times. cuz if anybody knows anything about an impound lot, if uh, let let's say you're out or someone's out and about and they go to jail yesterday because they were DUI what happens to their car? Their car gets towed, They spend the night in jail, they get out of jail, they find out where their car is, they call us up and they're like hey, you have my car and they're like hey, that's great I need you to pay x amount of whatever it costs to have your car towed and stored and all that stuff, That's just the way it works. So rather than um, than paying for their cartoe and it's uh, it's storage or whatever it is and all that, they they elect to just come in with their other other set of keys and they just steal their car back and I get they're not stealing it, it's their car. But they went to jail and so did their car.

So this is like car jail and because it's car jail we got to have security and since we need security we decided to use a gate and we not myself but others that share the area. um that's that's part of the business around here so unfortunately that gate needs to remain closed most of the time because we don't need the cars getting stolen out of the parking lot and people will also come in and just steal stuff out of the cars. or somebody's boyfriend went to jail and their girlfriend wants some stuff out of the car so the girlfriend comes over and says hey, you have some of my stuff in your car I Want that back? Well your name's not on the title, your name's not on the toe. We can't release that and they don't like that answer because they feel that they're entitled to just do whatever they want.

And the reality is when your car is in jail, the only person that can access it is the registered owner with a a proof of insurance paperwork and your driver's license and all that stuff to verify who you are. and unless we can get that, you can't have access to that automobile. That's just the way it works powering down so that will in my uh, my tow yard soap box for the day. I Suppose let's get this thing wrapped up or racked up on the rack and we will visually inspect the underneath.
Carriage One more time for something loose, sagging, broken, rusted, etc etc and then we'll go from there. Oh look, we've converted to a small engine repair shop as well. Deja Vu It's another carburetor unit similar to that. Cub Cadet That I worked on the other day, but now it's Dave's turn.

He's doing a carburetor on a pressure washing device over here. What was wrong with it? Dave Bunch of crap in the fuel bowl? Yep, Yep, was it. Rusty Yep. Is it Rusty like the other one? Oh look.

a safety gas. Did you let me see? Guess? woo? Look at that. That's nasty. That's SP Separated all day.

That cloudiness is water. Yep, that's not okay. It's not a frappuccino. Don't drink it.

If you let it sit long enough, it might get a little puddle under there. matter of fact. Yeahhuh there's a little puddle for yeah. I See it.

Look right there. See it right there. Bunch of water separating out y ethanol fuel and small engines. That's a no go.

Don't do it. Don't do it like we have a choice. So we have small engines that don't work on the fuel that we put into them. We can't get better fuel.

We can't even get gas cans that let you pour the gas out because they're environmentally friendly and what these make you do. They got this stupid little valve in it. You got to depress that stupid valve and then push this down. Then it opens the valve to the tank and then it kind of chugs out cuz there's no vent on the other side because uh, regulations.

So because of that you end up breaking off the uh, the spout because you end up like leaning on your your fill nozzle to hold that thing down. Keep in mind, you got 6 gallons of fuel in there so that weighs like 35 lb. So you're trying to hold all this stuff at this weird stupid angle and you're trying to push this down and there's fuel spilling out of the little fitting here and it's running down your leg and getting in your grass. But yeah, we're saving the environment with Uh with safe, secure regulated fuel spouts.

So I just unscrew the cap and dump it all inside of a funnel. and then that's that. Aha. Ingenuity Wow.

I Must be in some kind of a mood today. Everybody's getting. uh, everybody's getting a piece of the Wrath What's going on? That's weird. I'm not even in a bad mood either.

Let's get this side set up. We'll spin that around so it's more contacting There we go. more contacting. That's my vocab phrase of the day.

It's more contacting. Yay! Let's get this one in, right? There's nice and good. Yipper Unas! Then we'll run this thing on up. We're going all the way up.

Then we're going to recheck out our suspension. That one's good right there. Moving back up. I Have no subscribe button on this lift.
I've only got one on that lift and the other one over there. so this is the the notice button. I'm putting you on notice to subscribe to the channel That Way you do not miss out on any future content. Aha I Pulled it off anyway Hey I Just heard something bang and click.

What was that? Let's let it back down and see if I can't make it go pop bang click again Dam We're all the way down moving back up. Yeah! I didn't hear it that time. Okay, all righty. So normally with a ride height discrepancy, what we would look for is a torson bar front end.

the uh. the two wheel drives and four-wheel drives have different suspension in the front. You see how this is a 4x2 truck and it's got coil springs and a shock absorber here. So the way this would be configured is we would have our front drive shaft coming through here.

There would be a differential and then a CV axle running to both front wheels. one run across there and one running across here. So because the axle has to be where the spring is, they employed a different type of spring design called a torsion bar which is basically this spring Unwound into a straight line and then it's twisted so it would key into the control arm right here. Run back through that hole and you would find there's another crossmember back here with another keyway and then there's a bolt that runs through it and you can adjust the length of that bolt and that will change the twist amount on that spring in the front so it's effectively an adjustable twisty spring.

This truck does not have that because it's got coils so we have almost zero ride height adjustment capability out of this front end. with the exception of replacing Springs or shimming them and spacing them now, these appear to have been replaced at some point that does not look like it's the factory spring and I can feel see if the insulators are in there. Yep, I can feel an insulator. It's got a rubber insulator.

I can see the uh, the rubber insulator up at the top on that one. so those are good insulator at the top and see if I can't feel it. There's an insulator yeah, insulator at the bottom. So there's nothing really we can do with this front end.

Let's go out back and check the rear cuz I don't see anything going on with these fronts. Uh, like I said earlier, we've already inspected this area. I've replaced some brakes on it. We did a little bit of, uh, extra work on the front of this.

there's that steering shaft and I think we checked out the sway bar. also. yeah, there's one of the bushings. there's our link bushing and Link yeah, this whole front end looked really good.

Moving out back, let's see what we've got here. Here's our front spring hanger. Yeah, you still see there's a bunch of rust and whatnot on these Springs but maybe one of them is bent or sagging. Let's check the rear hangers real quick.
Those bushings aren't looking that great. See all that dry rot and cracking in there. This may be the cause of it right here. see that it's not looking too healthy.

Okay, let's check this other one here. I'm wondering if this bushing has collapsed cuz this is the side where it's leaned on. I Think this bushing might be a little smashed and collapsed right here. Look at that right there.

Hanger's got a bunch of crusty nasty that's rusted out. pretty bad. so that hole might be elongated. Let's see anything bent on the spring.

Kind of tough to tell. Uh, let's see here. nothing here there. A lot of motion in this spring.

Look at all that as this thing flexes, this piece ends up becoming longer as the arch is taken out and it's going to increase at a greater length than this one cuz that's shorter. So I think that thing's just flopping around and moving a lot. That's a lot of wear you can see right there. The spring is actually worn away from all that rubbing.

Okay, that looks good. U joints or U bolts are okay looking. They're not rusted out. These plates aren't looking that great though.

That one there I found it Dave Look at this. I Found found what I was looking for Dave's not here man. look at that. Check this out.

Dude rusted all the way through. It's broken off and there's a piece missing. Look right over here. that's the middle spring.

Fortunately, it's not the top spring. Yeah, look at that. It must have broken twice. so it snapped off and was being captured by these two leaves.

and then as it it bounced around and sagged, it snapped off again. Then the piece fell out. This truck needs leaf springs H All righty. So I just looked at the parts catalog and there are some things available to uh, make the repairs on this truck and there are some things that are not available now.

I'm going to go over here to my stash because I've been planning on changing leaf spring hangers on my truck for ever and ever cuz the bushings in mine are smashed right out of it and it clanks and bangs and makes a bunch of noise. So I actually have some GM spring Parts here. I've got uh, three hangers. It looks like 1, two, 3 I don't know where the fourth one is in the Box Yeah! I Think what I'm going to do here is I'm just going to use my hangers and I'll install these units and I I'll use these plates if I have to.

I think I have U joints or U bolts here somewhere. also I don't know yet, but what what I'm going to do is I'm going to plan on using these cuz I had to order I ordered these from Rock Auto like forever ago. Um, but I'll use these on this truck if I have to to get this thing fixed cuz I can't just put Springs in that and then not change the hangers cuz those hangers were garbage. so we're going to use these I had found that uh, what was it? The Parts House I think Parts House had some dorant uh, replacement three leaf springs.
so those things uh, ended up getting ordered I've got springs on the way. so I'm going to go ahead and uh and pull off this wheel and we're going to get started. I'm going to pull the spring pack out of here. We're going to do both sides, not just one side because if this one's sagging and rotted and junk, that one on the other side over there is also sagging and rotted and junk.

So let me go fetch. uh, the Electron Impact Ratchet impact gun and we'll pull these wheels off here and get started real quick. Beginning wheel removal procedure. Now there we go.

Wheels off, Cross domatic. Oh yeah, that's the 30,000 ft view of this broken spring. Look at this thing so this looks like that's the middle spring pack. You can see the upper spring is the one that's going to be attaching the spring to that hanger right there shackle.

so this one is effectively useless unless it's wedging against this one right here. Oh, you know what? There is not a piece missing look that goes right there. It just slid its way out and was up there. That's not okay.

All right. Well, we know what we need to do. Let's go ahead. get some penetrating oil.

We're going to spray off all these Fasteners right here and prepare to get them loose. this front one. That one's fun. Um I think we have to pull the fuel tank down to get the front one out.

or I cut it off and put a new bolt in it I can also do that. That's usually what folks like to do. So we're definitely going to need some spray, lubricant, some Rust penetrating oils, some some dino juice. spray that down I Don't know how effective this is going to be, but it'll be better than nothing I suppose let's get the rears there we go.

Nice and shiny. Yeah. I don't know how this is going to work I Don't think I'm going to be able to get all this stuff apart without breaking things. Uhhuh, let's get the other side as well.

Fill it on up. Yeah, this one up here there we go. Let's get the next one way up in the front there. Goode I'm going to have to support the weight of that axle in order to get the Springs out.

cuz right now the whole axle assembly is hanging from the Springs so we need to get some stands in there to hold the axle up as we disconnect those components so the truck is down on the locks. I Imagine it's going to be here overnight in this position. so we definitely set the rack on the locks. What you don't want to do is have it suspended off of the locks and then support something with like you stand right here because what will happen is it can bleed down and the stands will not bleed down.

So then the truck's going to and they can fall off the rack that way and we don't want to do that. That would be bad. So let's get this lowered down some and then uh, we'll set up the supports on both sides and then we can start pulling bolts out or cutting bolts out or torching bolts out or welding bolts out or asking them nicely to come out. We're going to remove the bolts down on the Bing side if we can just stick this one.
How's this going to work here? I've got to be able to get throw for the the arm which I don't have here maybe over here I Don't have it here either I Need to bring the truck up some it's too low back on lock. How about that? that one hook up is that good? Yes now we've got more space for our swing arms or for the Uh I don't know. whatever this thing is the big wing nut, the lever we can adjust the pole. Jack That's what I was saying.

Put this guy right here. there we go. Little bit of up pressure and one more on that side. Okay, next one coming in.

I've used the three poost jack on this side here, just cuz it's available. Didn't mean to do that. There goes my bearing plate. I Ruined my bearing plate.

It's not that bad. It just came apart, dropped another piece of my bearing plate. there bearing plate and plate. Let's try this again.

Chinesium, You get what you pay for and this thing was cheap. Let's do this. Raise it up to the hole. we pin it in there.

please. For real yeah, that was easy. So we'll pin the thing and then run it up. like so a little bit of up pressure on the axle.

Solid. Good to go. Let's start on bolting this thing, see what happens? so we don't need to worry about this upper bolt here because I'm going to replace these hangers with the Springs so all we really need to do is get these rear ones loose and then this can. This thing can hinge outward and we can.

uh, we can remove it like that that way. I Don't have to pull off uh one nasty bolt and not multiple nasty bolts. Uh I Need a wire brush? Get rid of some of that smoo okay tool change. Going to put a socket on it with a ratchet and then going to Dro the ratchet? Yeah, didn't mean to do that.

So then after I figure out what I'm doing here, then we'll gain some leverage on that ratchet with this floor jack handle right here. and I'm going to at least try to make that bolt turn I have a feeling that it's rusted into the insert inside of that hanger cuz the inside of that insert is metal. So what's going to happen is we're probably just going going to break that insert loose from all the rust or from its housing and we'll have the rubber spinning inside of the the metal part in which case, uh, might have to chop this off. Yeah.

I don't think it's going to come out? Try the impact now. see what happens. We'll get the big one out, not the 90 time for some rigidity. Nope.

Yep, yeah, buddy. we got her. Now let's see if it's going to come out. it's sideways.

Hammer Time It kind of moved. Okay, new strategy. So here's what we're going to do: I'm going to take a Pneumatic impact driver in this extra long chisel. I'm going to get behind this bolt and try to Chisel it out cuz it's going to give me some impact and I can kind of control it and direct it a little bit.
Let's see how this thing's going to work here. Let's uh I know, try to push it out first, put a bolt on that or nut you that's not coming out one more time. Wooo! Nope. need to cut it off.

Let's try some. Shock and a oh wow look at that. you guys look look look I'm forming a hole in the rust. See it right there in the middle of that hanger? There it is.

Yeah, that's super strong, isn't it? Look at that. Okay, it's Diablo time on the Sawsa going to get in here right between this hanger and the bracket. We're going to try to cut that bolt out, see what happens. We're going to be here for a while.

Loud noises. Ah, it's not going to work I can't cut through this I don't have the proper angles here I wonder if I flip the saw and the blade. The the motor side of this tool is kind of getting in my way. Let's flip the blade around I'll run the tool inverted.

That'll give me a couple extra little nanometers of space there. There we go. let's try that. Yeah, I'm smart.

Yeah, we're cutting through the rubber. Che The other side. Wow. so close.

Aha Okay, that's I think that's through I need to probably just hack this out of the way so I can get it out of the way. I Just can't get any. Can't get in there to do anything. It's frustrating.

There we go. Okay, the spring is kind of freeish. that's yeah. that thing's pretty stuck.

Man, oh man. let's see how stuck it really is. I'm going to try to turn that bolt one more time. Yeah, that's that's in there.

Pretty good. The inserts got to be turning. huh? That's a little free now. Turned a lot easier.

Let's uh, me. hit it with the gun again. Maybe I knocked enough of that rust loose where it's going to press that bolt out. Nope.

Stuck on there. pretty bad. Yeah, Chop all that rubber out of there. It's uh, hindering my saw blades ability to function as a saw blade should have been done by now.

Figured this was going to be easy and I wasn't going to get canadianized and they got me more rubber gone. almost air hammer again. Cutting this off is not really working out. woo Did it move I think it moved.

yeah it did. Oh man did I break it Loose did the lubricant do its job I think it's going. let's take this all the way out. I'll just hit it from the end.

yeah it's got to be going in. it's going totally going. do it from the bolt side. Come on Woo got it? Yeah! I barely put a dent in the in that bolt.

It was rusted in pretty bad. Look at all that see all the rust right here on the shank. Yeah that was seized up to that inner collar on that bushing. This guy right here.

you don't want to come out. it's all sharp and Jagged and rigid from me chopping on it with a hacksaw. Don't worry, we'll get it out of there. Got the bolt out I get this piece out.
you lose piece of junk. Yeah, it was rusted to this piece right here. See that metal insert? That was the the problem? Okay, all righty one fener down many, many more to go. Let's try these uh ubolt ones next.

I think these will come out with some with less persuasion. Let's get the threads cleaned. I'd hate for them to start to come out and then they bind up halfway through and and I got to cut them off I'm going have to cut you U bolts anyway cuz I have new ones but I uh they're extra long so I have to cut them to fit. this one just doesn't have it.

it doesn't have enough horsepower. Okay, those came off. see how I tightened it some and then loosened it. Then it worked.

ancient Chinese Secret learned it in Vietnam I might have to reuse these nuts I don't know, but I might sweet that one a part come off. Okay, there's our base plate that's uh, pretty nasty looking. Pretty good though. Probably reuse it.

okay. Q bolt also not the greatest if you had to I think we could reuse that but I would prefer not to. And how's this one looking? pretty similar? I could reuse it, but I really don't want to. Let's knock the rust off of that awesome opportunity.

I Get to use my needle scaler. Yes, more loud noises. Watch this. That's awesome.

Beautiful! Okay So we've got the rear section of this entire spring disconnected. It's disconnected from the axle. Let's go up to the front here and get this front bolt. now.

One thing you'll notice here: this bolt is about one hand long, but there's a fuel tank in the way so I'm going to break it Loose Hopefully it comes out or to come out and what I need to do is actually cut the head of it off and then pull the thing out. So I need to take it Loose drive it that way, chop the head off and then hammer it out that way. Uh, I'm hoping it's not stuck to the inner core of this spring. uh, like it was in the other one.

So let's get looks like a 24 mil and we'll try to spin this thing off right here. I Can't tell what size it is 27 but it's not the 24 that's not even going to work right? All right. So that saw saw is getting on my nerves and do this with a uh, cut off wheel here. um I Want to throw the Sparks away from me? Try it this way.

I just I can't get a socket over that cuz it Doesn't There's not enough relief here. so I'm just going to chop this off, then cut that loose and then chop that off. So let's give our cut off wheel some practice here. Take you Squints and gagee please.

Highly effective now. Does my socket fit? No. Now. does the right socket fit all day long? There we go.

We just need that little extra. That's all. It was just that wee little bit extra. Hey, it came loose I Think that's good.
Let's see about the uh. The bolt in the other side in here cannot reach it. Nope. I Know we'll grab it on the other side with a socket.

The head of that bolt is is recessed inside of the bracket sum and the wrench doesn't have a straight line on it. So I'll use a socket with the offset and that'll hold on to the Fastener So I can get the nut off. Then we can cut the bolt off. There we go.

Give that some love. Taps And yeah, we can see. Look at that it. uh, it doesn't come out.

See? you just don't have enough space here to get that guy to come out. And I can't push the tank in enough to, uh, compress it? I mean I can try? Yeah, why not? let's try. We'll just pry, pry at the tank a little bit if we can depress that enough to create the the relief we need. I can just squeeze the bolt out, but it's not going to work.

Yeah, that's not going to work I'm not going to pry on it enough to risk damaging the tank I'd rather just cut the bolt off and get a new one. So that's what we're going to do. Come back in loud noises. Um, how do I want to throw my Sparks I think I want to throw them away from me So we're going to cut it here like this.

Not going to work I Said H in a perplexed manner because the bolt now wants to spin against the rotation of the cutting wheel. I'm in a very interesting situation here because the saw barely fits in that area and I have to figure out how to prevent the bolt from spinning I know what to do: Curvy, angular needl noose pliers I'll pull on it and create some friction and pressure and cut it off. Aha got it. Okay, the head is off.

Let's push the Bol back. Well, let's see if it clears. Yep, got it. Okay, so that's the that's the one in question there.

We had to do it. That's standard procedure. Chop it off. So now the spring is should be free.

It's disconnected from everything Yer Hammer time. Let's knock that spring out here. Sweet. Got it.

It's almost out. Let's back this up going be a two-handed operation here. Oh, this unit's heavy. We're going to flip it over.

Look at that. now. the arch is inverted. Pull this thing through.

Woo got it. Giv this thing a closer examination. we can see those bushings are shot. Very cracked and nasty.

This thing is Rusted Right out spring is broken and the rear side we had to chop it to. Pieces So confirmed kill. that's one is done. Let's go ahead get this other side knocked out as quickly as possible.

all right wheel coming off reverse. NASCAR take two. Something fell up wheel Spacer spacer for the aftermarket wheels that back. Okay, same procedure on this side.

Let's get to chopping. Oh and I I screwed up royally I Set the Uh a cut off wheel down and it fell over and then broke the wheel. So now I got to use another wheel cuz that was my last little cut off wheel. Yay! I Love accidentally breaking things that are moderately important, especially since this whole job relies on that cut off wheel.
See if this one's going to come loose or not. Maybe it will. Maybe it won't. That one, it's not turning just like that other side was.

Stuck on Stupid Let's try to break it free from the other side. Bigger gun coming in? Nope. okay. ratchet and the breaker bar kind of turn.

Kind of not. Yeah, it's doing the same thing. The rubber business is turning and the bolt is not okay. Need to chop it off? Let's try it with the smaller blade, it's not going any anywhere.

More lubricant put all soak in there nice and deep. like. try the air hammer method. first.

for a second or next it's leaking Lube lost steam I had it on one. Let's try full power. A Yeah okay. this one is a little more stubborn.

killing my battery. Need more amperages? Okay, quick battery change. We got a fresh one going. Let's hit it again.

turning. Get some lube on it I'll hit it with the gun and then soak it a bunch of blue. Is that going to work all right? I'm going to get behind it again and and send it. Give it the full beans to see if we can't press it out like we did the other side.

Do it again right here. I Think it's moving. Tough to say yeah boy, it's moving. tearing those threads to pieces o that's hot.

too dang warm. Try that. I Think we've gone as far as we can go with the nut? I'm all out of threads here and it's starting to bottom out. So let's pull this nut all the way out of here.

It's now a sacrificial nut cuz I've gouged it to no end with that. uh, that air hammer. Here we go, let's try to get the bolt from the back side of it. same thing.

send it. I've got to put an immense amount of pressure against this chisel while it works too. This thing will shake your teeth out of your head. Woo this.

Why? I Like the foamy stuff, it goes in places where the others don't dang breake time. Okay, so this thing's pretty stuck where it is. We know that it moves. So I'm going to run her back and forth applying lubricant to the shank and maybe I can break up enough rust inside of this hanger.

See, get it to come out all the way. So from the back side, spray some lube, more lube and we're going to hammer it in more. Lube Again, then we're going to hammer it out. It's moving.

Yeah! Victory Woo Buddy got her there it is. That's the that's the St hole y Now let's knock this hanger out of here that's in bad shape. Look at that you nasty hanger. Okay, that side's done.

Let's pull off the bolts down here on the axle and then we'll get that one up front. the Same Old Situation scrub the de bris, get all that nonsense off there, Rubricate it Okay, 24 mil dang. I Do not envy you rust Bel Guys Nope, can't say that I do another equally nasty component. look at that he new bolts coming out these bolts.
uh look okay. they might be able to be reused if I have to, but I don't want to. All right, let's get the uh, the next hardest one or the last one. Rather, it's this uh Jewel of a Fastener up here.

I'm going to try to sneak that one out all the way. Uh, maybe I can, maybe I can't but I'd like to avoid chopping it off because my Chopper is not chopping like it's supposed to. So because there's slightly more space between this bolt and the uh, the obstruction which happens to be the muffler. I'm going to try different method.

We'll come in with the shallow 24 and try to impact this off. It was working. You saw how it was pushing the tool out against the a muffler, right? See that? No space? We'll just try to hammer this out sideways. Hammer time.

Question is is it going to come out all the way? I Hope so. These bolts are expensive. Yep, think I got enough. Sure do there she is.

That's the last one that's good now. I have one that's not chopped up that we can match out at the Uh the bolt store. Okay I think our spring should be free Let's uh, let's grab the hammer real quick and tap these out or bash it out or hammer it out or extract it out. Whatever, whatever we got to do here, we're going to remove it.

That's the plan. Uh-oh dang. look at this. the uh, the spring is Rusted to the axle over here.

It doesn't want to come free from the axle. Yeah. Watch this right here. Put a light in there.

it's pretty stuck there. We go now. it's loose. I'm going to do the same thing that I did on the other side.

We're going to get this all the way. free. flip it over, switches upside down. Let's go ahead and carry it out.

there. We go Got her? Do we have a winner? Survey says we sure do. It's good. Oh this is beautiful.

Look at this perfect fitment. We have bolt alignment, center point alignment, and bolt alignment on that one as well. Three leaves One Mono at the bottom, the helper and then it's got it. Two regular leaves here so those are the correct ones.

Let's uh. well. I don't have UB bolts yet waiting on the UB bolts. I ordered some and I have longer ones but I don't want to use my longer ones cuz then I got to cut them off.

So let's do some mockup action here on some of these parts. Let's figure this out. Looks like this goes this way. Yeah here and the open end faces the rear.

We'll set this up just the same just like so please go in there. Yay! Look at that. Okay, there's one Oo spring new motal dose. So what I did on that one? I hook the shackle uh on the rear side which had the sticker this side.

I Think they're uniform on both sides, but I'm going to do the sticker as the rear and then the non- sticker as the front. so we're going to do that the same. Um, where's my other Sha I think it's in here Yep. B this one over here on this side set her up.

how did I cut this off? It went open end towards the back and then and yeah, just like so that's how she goes. Okay, so what we do? get her lined up, run the bolt through, and voila! shackles installed. Cool beans. Okay so here are the uh, the leaf spring UB bolts that um I I bought these for this almost the exact same job on my Silverado hence the extra long uh Shanks on these units and I don't think these are going to work out for us cuz look at here, they're the right width but the thread length is completely incorrect so I'm not going to be able to use these I think what I'm going to do is just uh, put a part situation on this job.
we're going to put this on Parts hold and I am not going uh I'm not going to uh to set those uh Springs up into the chassis cuz they might fall down. not until I can at least get the uh appropriate amount of bolts or the appropriate length bolts rather uh, I will use these which were also for my build but I believe they're going to be the same as the others and I'd rather just uh, remove the crustified stuff. So we're going to donate these parts to this project right here. Yeah, those fit those fit per fit perfectly.

So I'll use mine on this and then I'll order more for me since the ones I ordered for this are not here and since they're the same I don't think it really matters. So guys, having said all that, uh, we need to take a trip to the bolt store to get a new fastener for this side. I'll probably get a second one for that side even though that one over there is good. uh, waiting on the bolts, the UB bolts and I think that's about it.

So I'm going to have to wrap this one up today and uh, come back to this one after my delivery arrives so hav't out of that. uh as always like to thank you guys for watching this video. Uh, let me know what you think about this suspension rehab job down in the comments below and I mean that there's a there's some algorithm business going on right now and YouTube seems to be broken again. So I want you guys to break the algorithm just by spamming my comment section.

I mean don't do spam cuz they'll kick you out. but just comment, comment and comment. Just comment a whole bunch. I Want to see if user interaction from you guys can kind of affect uh what the AI and YouTube land is doing right now? Uh, we works experimenting.

That's what I'm talking about. we're we're all experimenting and probing. The Matrix to see what it responds to and what it doesn't So if you guys would do me a solid, throw me some comments down at the bottom of this video. Do Not forget to tap that like button while you're down there.

Ray i don't usually question what you do but cutting the bolt on the front of the leafspring next to gas tank and having sparks fly on top of tank is very dangerous if it has the smallest leak you might not be doing anymore videos my friend.
