157 mph Kia? That is one fast Kia!! They should sell a million of those! Great diagnostic technique.
How did I know she wasn't going to want to diagnose and repair the ABS system? I dunno, maybe it was the stupid mask hanging from her turn signal: fear the imaginary danger, don't worry about real ones.

Truly a trust worthy mechanic. There's certainly not enough mechanics like you around anymore. If I'm ever in your area, I'll def take my car to your shop.
Same logic that I apply. I thought I was the only one! Got loads of leads and clips for that process. Love it.
Do you have a spot on the bottom of the bill for general notes? If so, do you (when appropriate) add "Customer would have saved $40 (whatever), had the person informed us of recent {whatever recent 'repairs' amounted to}," lol? IDK whether you'll teach people to do it in the future, but you can feel good about trying.
I have a 92 Mitsubishi 3000Gt vr4 that I owned since it was brand new. Despite what the Mitsubishi dealership says 20 50 conventional oil has been proven by Ray Pampena who is the go to guy for making big reliable hp numbers. And I trust him a lot more then the Mitsubishi dealership (who caused my original engine to blow up because they placed a jack underneath my oil pan to raise my engine instead of using a engine hoist like the service manual calls for when doing the 60k maintenance) Pampena built my engine to 630 AWHP and 20 years later my car still runs like new running 20w 50 oil. Ray I really enjoy your videos but if I asked you for a 20w 50 oil change and you refused I would go somewhere else. So please understand that some engine builders do major research on what oil is the best oil to get to the engine bearings the fastest and for the Mitsubishi 3000gt vr4 of all years stock or built engines need to run 20w 50 if you want to keep them running as long as possible. Yes that’s my car in my picture. Its my first car that I had since it was new and I was in 11th grade.
Ray you said safety third, do you listen to the "well there's your problem" podcast?!
Youd think a long crank would would be great…yet not on cars.
That phone is stupid. Doo dee Doo
It's sad that sarcasm has to be pointed out to all the Sheldons around.
I have a 2010 kia soul, only problem I have with it mechanically) is the power steering is got a leak. Might be the resivor cap, might be the resivor might be the pump. I think it is the cap, since the fluid seems to be leaking down from that area. *shrugs It is a small problem and only seems to give issues when it is really cold outside. I have had it for 10 years.

This guy is so likable. and seems to be a very good and knowledgeable mechanic. Love the different sound effects he does.
Looks like, if you get it back it should be easy to fix.
If that were a MB it would be fix or limp!
Should’ve named this vid “Kia with tachycardia” 😂😂😂
LOL, is there any video where the phone does not ring? Doo di doo doo!!
Just wondering the implications of that faulty ABS sensor. Will the left rear wheel not perform it's stop/release function in a hard breaking stop? If so, it could make for an interesting panic stop fishtail situation. Customer might reconsider investing $200 and not finding out at 70 mph on a highway next to an 18 wheeler in that little thing.
i'm sure the people love you banging the drivers door into the lift post. i'd never take my car to a nap
a service center
I noticed that you flipped the connector on the crank sensor. Is that why it wasn't connected right?
A $5k tool and it has only basic features.
Lame
What's with everyone declining the repairs?!?
Hey Ray, from Oklahoma here. I found your channel when I was working on my truck. Didn’t really know why, but I really liked to hear you talk and explain things, your sense of humor is very much on par with me and my peeps ha ha. It finally hit me today as I watched this video, my uncle passed away in January of 2019, he was 56 years old. It dawned on me, that you sound almost exactly like him. I never really got to talk to him that much, and simply weren’t as close as I would have liked. Just getting to hear the sound / nuance of that voice brings me comfort I think. I’m an IT tech, so you and I have similar careers of problem solving machines. Keep up the good work bud. I’m learning a ton about vehicles and the diagnostic process very cool. -Jamie
It's Just A Kia Soul Thing, Those Things Are Already Death Traps
Kia that is the first problem lol
Love all the ideas for processes of elimination for the problem at hand. Knowledge is power.
I've learnt more about cars from this channel, than my never existing father ever taught me.
Has "Sting" Car written all over it
Is this guy tryna sell this person another starter?? How many times was he gonna shut the car off turn around and start it right back up? He had already seen what it was doing?
Good deducing……
The left wheel is going 157 mph…i laughed so hard I almost wet myself! 🤣😂🤪
The resistance measurement of the ABS wiring leads in inconclusive. Did the trouble shooting diagram tell you to do this? I think not. What you are measuring is the input circuit of the ABS module as measuring without reversing the leads is non-sequitur.
After that, cross-wiring the circuit / sensor was a good way to check it out.
this was shown before or i got a big case of Déjà vu
im in indiana did the same job as you and i watch your channel because i never get tire of the shit customers say or try to pull dont know why it nevers gets old and ive been retired 15 yrs now lol
Ray, what brand of work light do you use? As much as they get dropped and keep working, I want one.
As soon as i saw that drop of oil hanging from the filter, I thought….Oil filter not tight.
Good strategy, 100% verified bad speed sensor. Even if the customer declined it will be an easy fix if they ever decide they want ABS again.
Did you notice the water dripping? Looks like you have a leak.
It must be annoying when the customer doesn't want to repair a diagnosed fault and you have to return vehicle as is knowing it should be fixed.but what can you do at the end of the day you have to do what customer wants.
Typical CHEAPSKATE customer NOT wanting you to replace that sensor!!
Shouldn't you have done the opposite in your procedure? Hooked the good sensor from the rear right to the harness from the left, just to verify the left harness.
good reasoning
If you have a hot no start that starts cold it's almost always the cam sensor.
When the bad sensor gets heat soaked it changes resistance and goes out of spec.
cools off and is in spec
It runs in all professions ! Had a HVAC guy come out because I told him my fan start up capacitor was faulty . 230 bucks . No biggie it worked for 2 weeks . Called and complained and they sent another person to check it and he said the guy wired it in backwards and it over heated and blew . They tried to charge me a 100 buck service call and I took them to small claims court . I won but time off cost me more and the 70 buck filing fee . Always take these people out of the food chain at any cost !
It's called comparative diagnostics… I use it all the time when troubleshooting wireless APs and their controllers..
Nice another great video
GOOD TROUBLESHOOTING REAR WHEEL SENCERS, but seeing Right wheel sencer was Good, I would have connected it to the left wheel connector. It ment to swap the good sencer in instead of the swaping the bad out……not trying how to do you business, but this how I was taught to troubleshooting problems, replace known good with suspect bad…. But I follow exactly what you were doing.,,,, great job
