The front valve cam assembly looks cleaner than the back valve and cam assembly.

I feel that Ray has Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. However I feel this is a good thing if he is working on your vehicle. If I don't feel the urge to work on my vehicle, it will go to Eric O. Since he is not far from me, however I would trust both to service my vehicles.
You all probably guessed I'm a Ford Fan. Ray seems to be good with both, Ford and GM. Ditto with Eric O.

Longitudinally mounted V engines should be illegal. So hard to work on

Whats the torque sequence for that intake lololol

I lost 9/16. 1/4 drive 25 years ago cpst 32. Dollars to replace

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Richardd Hutchens says:

How many sockets you lose per month lol

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Gerardo Lopez says:

I didn't see him doing the half-moon seals they always need to be done when doing valve covers on these cause they leak from there as well toyota/lexus engines

  10. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Greg Dove says:

Love your work. Hate that digital torque wrench. Sounds annoying in your videos. In practice I prefer the traditional click. For low torque stuff i quickly test the force needed on something already higer just to calibrate my arms. This way I feel when I am close.

  11. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ed Chenal says:

    Methodical work.

  12. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jon Gould says:

Does anyone know the design reasoning for the "basket gasket"? The only logical reason I can come up with would be to disrupt the airflow going into the intake, possibly to better balance how the air goes into the manifold and cylinders. Or were the Toyota/Lexus engineers concerned about large items getting dropped into the intake track? ๐Ÿ™‚

Hi Ray, been watching your videos for some time now, really fascinating watching you work I would be interested in seeing all of your tools, you must have a fortune tied up in them. It amasses me every time I see you coming out with different tools to complete your job.

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ken Stevens says:

I know what itโ€™s like to need eyeballs in your fingertips after 45 years of twisting wrenches, still need them sometimes working on my Hotrod.

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars grandmaster Jim says:

Washed my engine just like you did at the end, and should have waited until it was stone cold. Cracked the block and had to junk my car.

  17. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Tom Parker says:

I noticed you did repair the plastic clips you broke off of the plugs for the injectors…vibration soon will find this motorist on the side of the road when the injector clips vibrate loose and come unplugged and the injectors will not fire….naughty boy Ray!

  18. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Brian Allen says:

You literally have to tear that engine apart just to change the back spark plugs….sometimes I wonder who designs these cars. Nice video though. Kind of feel sorry for the owner of this P.O.S, it cost them a fortune just for valve cover gaskets.

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ric Mackie says:

Watch the self-talk. It adds up and we start to believe our self-talk after a while, even if obviously untrue. Great work!

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bill Milosz says:

I don't like you beepy torque wrench. Clicks are preferable to beeps, haptically speaking

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joe Schmohe from Simcoe says:

I think the ground wire to to bleed off static electicicles from the plastic manifold? Static electricicles kill electronical parts dead.

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Darren says:

    YES!๐Ÿ˜Š

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Radio Rescue says:

Yeah I've done a few of these (Well the 3.0L) in the Avalon's and that back wiring harness will make you say dirty words. As it gets in the way of installing the back valve cover as your gasket falls off. Because it's not easy to get to, these gaskets rarely get serviced. So the gaskets are hard as a rock and like in the prior video the spark plugs seals refuse to come out! Good times!

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars RyeOnHam says:

That EVAP clamp was bothering me for about 10 minutes.

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jason Michaels says:

Top job Sir! You're an inspiration for quality..Thank you for sharing…NJ

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Stefan Buscaylet says:

Question from a guy who loves Rays videos but I am not a car mechanic but feel like I can find a repair guy better because of the content. Question: why does the customer bring their own parts vs having the shop get what they need? Do shops typically charge more for customer brought parts similar to a restaurant charging a corkage fee?

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars ezequiel cordero says:

Surprised ๐Ÿ˜ฎ you did not tighten sparkplug before using wrench, you probably can tell if they start to strip

  28. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars aenoymotors says:

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Charlie sw9ve says:

What about the zip tie fix for the broken coil pack plugs? I really wanted to see how you did that. I didn't see any on it in the video.

I like that there werenโ€™t too many Dangly bits on that engine

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Chris Watson says:

I hate doing gasket jobs. I'm always imagining that the gasket has slipped or twisted at the very last second, so will leak. Never has, but can't stop myself from thinking that!๐Ÿ˜†

  58. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars DERIC BARNWELL says:

ACCORDING TO RAY, YOU HAVE TO WIGGLE YOUR STUD IN ORDER FOR IT TO GO INSIDE; THEN, YOU HAVE TO RUN THE STUDS DOWN FOR THE PROPER FIT. SOUNDS LIKE A BAD DAY FOR ANY GUY WHO BELIEVES HE IS A STUD ??

  59. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars MrChrisjcb says:

  67. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Doosh Baggins says:

Ray, it's great to see a good mechanic getting the respect they deserve in the comments on your videos. Not so long ago I remember when my son went into tech school for automotive work, people were "suggesting" that he could do better with his life. I'm proud of my son and he loves your videos… he's even admitted to watching you and SMA to get tips on hard to do jobs he has to work on. Love you work, keep it up.

The old Toyota Cressida can run around any Toyota/Lexus in 2 millions miles now a date . All this mix racist design with their eyes close , that why the mileage only last 500k miles only . They never thinks about quality like the old Japanese born in the 1920โ€™s or the 1940โ€™s engineering, the have the mind institutions to created better for life , now their mind is reckless , they do not care for the values they doing for better in life , they design and built a vehicle for looks only drive and reliable is no where near , the technology was to suppose to help built better quality but instead built to kill quality , just like a cops abused the badges or the government, same way the computers technology was supposedly help improving better life , but instead used to steal and hack other peoples identities. That is sad in humans , created problem there no endless way to stopped same go to automotive industries

  74. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ron Sloan says:

Hi Ray, great pt 2. I was also happy to read in the comments from pt 1 how much the owner appreciated your work and that he was going to bring his truck in for you to work on. Repeat customers says it all on the quality of your work. Cheers!

  75. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Marty Stull says:

Dude I like watching your videos, but seeing you reuse a stud that you broke kills me ๐Ÿ™

  76. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Charles Baker says:

Couldn't help but notice in your last few videos, you aren't using your handy dandy hose clamp pliers that you "shamelessly promoted on Amazon". Why?

  77. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Eddie Murphy says:

i enjoy when you do not rush things and make a second video i like it when it is a good strip down and i like your electric wrenches so much i have one now thanks for the second video

  78. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars elromantico223 says:

I don't like the idea to clean the oil with water, there is electrical connectors everywhere in the engine moisture can get inside the wires, and cause problems in the future, other wise good video, please don't wash your engines with water.

  79. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars C W says:

You should do mail time on your 2nd channel so we can see what we got you.

  82. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ernest Sipes says:

Sorry, not a fan of the plastic manifold. Sure, fine for 8, 9,10 years or maybe a few more, but then it'll warp due to heat, get plastic fatigue, crack or etc etc. and start leaking, vaccum leaks etc etc. Just not a good system for long term operation in my opinion.

  83. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Markam Campbell says:

was there a coolant leak at one time? i noticed the rust everywhere.

  84. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars John Gardner says:

  87. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars julio says:
