In this video I have a look at 2013 Dodge Dart that came in with a check engine light on and come to find out it is caused by a bad HVAC blower motor!? Seriously Chrysler... well is what it is. -Enjoy!

Why do we buy so many toyota and honda cars and trucks ………………
Boss can this mess with the battery charger. I'm getting battery light on and the drops the power steering. Having issues with the blower. Has new battery and took the alternator checks out good?
Yes can see your test light flicker as all of your videos that you have asked. Great camera does it wash dishes for Mrs. O also?
Good information
No I can’t. Just change oil
Could the A/C not working cause the engine light to come on also.
The best mechanic !!!!!
The point is for MORE things to be able to illuminate the Check Engine lamp. This way you will need to go to the DEALER for service more often…
I have had the misfortune of working on a Dart with a bad Active Grille Shutter. The car sits so low, the customer tore off the lower cover, which the harness is zip-tied to, and destroyed the AGS and the harness. AGS: $500.00, harness, connector N/A: $170. Not a good design at all.
yes ridiculous ! big brother lol
I farted once and my check engine light came on… Massive evap leak detected
Bad as the old fords if the compressor was bad they would set the check engine light
Basically the same as my Alfa Guilietta 😉
Not imagine having to change that fan blower on Australian right hand drive version with the steering column and pedals in the way 🙁
A bad speaker will cause errors on the radio and dash too btw
Wow I wasn't aware that the Dart had those convenient canbus bars under the kick panel like that.
Very useful!
My check engine light has been on for the last 30,000 km . Drives fine and no effect on fuel mileage , 2004 jetta TDI with 420,000 km
At 14 minutes on your video. What wires are you hooked on to?
Max AC would be 100%
blower module? why is that necessary. what the hell ever happened to the blower resistor. i series of several coils of wire in different lengths. the longer the wire coil, the slower it ran. it was simple and CHEAP to replace.
i would like to know if you just unplug the blower motor would that turn the money light off?
and that is why you never buy a dodge. even the car brand tells you to stay away .
Those are re-badged Fiats. Top tip: Check the federal sticker on any new car you're thinking about buying. It will tell you the original manufacturer and where it was built. Another tip: Don't buy cars assembled in Mexico. Some Mercedes are assembled in Mexico and they are money pits.
I have a 2004 grandam and my engine light is on and IAM thinking about is it my blower motor
Eric, what prompted you to learn the phonetic alphabet?
My Avenger had the same code for the blower motor lol
why do we think we have to over complicate things of all kinds
Great..now we can fail a NYS inspection cause of blower speed😡😡😡
Have a 2015 Dart and the blower just quit completely and check engine light on as well. Weird thing is the rear defroster won't kick on either nor will it let me engage/disengage ESC but hazard switch works. So blower motor going completely dead would trigger those problems as well?
My 2006 Mini Cooper S had the radiator fan resistor go bad. It only operated at high speed. It was diagnosed by the dealer. It was a 600 dollar repair to fix with a whole new radiator fan and support which included the resistor in the shroud part.
I researched online and found the circuit could be "altered" by putting a resistor in the harness to take over the control of the fan speed.
The resistor was less than 15 dollars and my mechanic soldered into the proper wires and we mounted it on metal using some heat sink goop attached it to the "frame" type area of the front left side where the harness was right near to the area. That took a half-hour shop time.
Nice explanation.
I can't understand how anyone ends up buying a dart. If you want a Challenger, sure. They look cool, lots of power, might be worth having a Dodge. You want a Cummins, sure, get a ram. But you want an economy sedan, why get a dart??? Doesn't make any sense. Just get a Toyota. Don't deal with this kind of crap.
What kind of scanner is that is amazing
Can't wait 'till the computer will only allow you AC when it decides the weather is hot enough!
Why would anyone of intelligence give a. Thumbs down to this video? Good info!
The reason they do this is because the heater has a fairly significant impact on the engine temperature, specifically how long it takes to warm up. Cold engines are not clean burning engines, so they want them to warm up fast and if they don't, it needs to turn on the check engine light. The PCM needs to know how quickly it should expect the engine to warm up in varying circumstances, so they need to monitor variables that effect engine temperature, and one of those variables is the heater. So, they need to know if the HVAC is requesting heater operation and how much air is moving past the heater core, so it needs to monitor fan speed. If the PCM can't monitor actual fan speed, it throws off its calculation or "model" of the coolant temperature in relation to how quickly it should warm up. This is the side effect of (to a lessor degree) people wanting cars that get better MPG and (to a greater degree) governments that want lower tailpipe emissions.
My wife's `14 Dart Limited had the same failure with the oil pressure switch setting the check engine light; the dealer changed it under warranty, and that was our only warranty claim. The Dart now has one hundred and eighty odd thousand miles on it, as she drives a hundred miles a day total to work and back. Say what you want about a new Dodge Dart, ours has been wonderful. One wheel bearing went bad and the starter solenoid went out about one sixty-five thousand and that is it. I plant to replace the water pump soon so it does not fail on the road and strand her one day.
I appreciate this video, as any info on the cars we own is good, and always great on your channel.
Awesome video, thank you!
Eric I found some stats you might find interesting regarding the salt belt. The local news paper for my home state of Rhode Island printed this; According to the US Geological Survey The United states in 1940 used 140,000 tons of salt on our roads. just over 1,000,000 in 1954, 10,000,000 in 1985 and we currently exceed 24,000,000 tons annually. last year Rhode Island used 44.2 tons, Massachusetts 34.6 tons, New York 28.0 tons, New Hampshire 25.1 tons and Vermont 23.3 tons. I find this very interesting considering New York is about 90% larger then all of the New England states combined. Rhode Island is the smallest state and about 45 times smaller then New York. Yet we use 63% more salt then New York, Maybe the MOP has the contract the treat our roads!! LOL
wow! I never woulda thunk they could come up with that.
dodge dart aka glorified dodge neon
Replacing a oem blower motor would be ok, but with Chrysler/Dodge cheap parts in the first place, I'd go with after market and I haven't had a problem. Keep your costs down for your customers will only benefit your business.
Go to the frozen hell hole and help AvE with his diesel.
Very well explained. You understand it and can help others to learn a diagnostic approach.
Every time you said blower motor in the outro I couldn't help but notice the snow blower in the background…
Made in America assembled in Korea
Hey Mr.O I have a 1996 Nissan Sentra that won’t stay running battery drains fairly fast after I jump it I’ve replaced the alternator spark plugs and even the battery my fuel pump and started are also fine I’m kinda stuck on what to do now if you have any suggestions please let me know
My 2006 Dodge Charger had a "money light" for the brake light switch.
I think the old one has passed…its sell-by date!
