Paunch, you are the best or I meant Eric or Erik.
If you live in basically a no rust state(arizona), is there any reason to not get the cheapest non coated brand name rotors or should you still get coated for some reason?
Plenty of brake jobs on you tube none show what to put where. Love to have a link of that nylon brush. I knew not to use a wire brush. Love to do that next time. I think permatex exacerbated my rubber ring. I put a new one on.
I don't mind seeing lots of brake jobs. Each is a little bit different and I always learn something new. Gives me the confidence to keep doing it myself. Great videos!
After watching so many of your videos and learning so much, Iโm so chuffed to see that we do brakes in the same way- even down to having the same tool to clean out the slide pin holes! ๐๐ผ๐๐ป
It should be he slips right in.
Won't the heat generated at the brakes melt the silicone? I thought 'brake parts lubricant' was recommended because regular grease will melt?
i have to do my 2017 brakes on camry sometime what size is the scrubbing brush for caliper pins is it just a regular brush or one specific for brake pins?
Eric… you always ask how can we still enjoy brake jobs. Well every time you put one out you might give ONE more hint or we might
Understand something differently This time. And if you change your process a tad we learn a new style or chemical. That goes for any video you do. It might be that one technique that we were missing on our own process. As the saying goes, โIf you donโt learn something new everyday your not living life to the fullest.โ
Doesn't brake cleaner damage rubber boots????
I guess the days of buying an inspection sticker with a case of Budweiser are goneโฆ.Damn!
I wouldn't mind joining Josh on his journey of learning how to talk to the camera once in awhile. ๐
What is the name of the tool that you used to clean the studs, I cannot find it anywhere
Good video. Good camera work and I like that torch and water spray trick. Thanks
Letโs make this a life lesson ๐
I was named after one of the great westerns…. SHANE
When u said u wear tight pants the community probably went : ๐๐ณ๐๐ฉ๐ซ๐ฆ dAdDy ErIc!!!!!!! Lol
I like how thorough you are with the cleaning and lubrication. It definitely will affect what I do the next time brakes are needed around here.
Perhaps off topic, but I'm a toolmaker and once we got a job for fairly large 10" dia. wear parts for a CV joint assrmbly machine.
Well, we machined them, heat treated them and precision I.D. and O.D. ground them and sent them out to the customer.
Well apparently the previous vendor just machined them to finish size sent them to the customer who then sent them out for heat treat, distortion be damned.
Well, when our completely heat treated and precision ground FINISHED parts landed on their dock, the clerk promptly sent them out for HEAT TREAT!
Sadly the heat treat outfit was also a bunch of ninnyhammers and they threw them into the furnace.
So, if your wondering why your American made car is a piece of crap, its because everybody (almost) sucks at their job and they just don't care.
I was named after Patrick swayze roadhouse (the names Dalton)
You are so right about hack work at the customer's request. I looked at a van that was hacked, a year after it was hacked, thought the shop ripped the guy off, and told him to take it back to the shop that fixed it. Fortunately the shop kept notes on their computer, and reminded the guy that he hacked it for him as a favor.
At least your dad didn't name you Erik's character name, Francis Llewellyn "Ponce" Poncherello…
Still used the purple on the piston near the rubber. confused more than ever!
A-K-E-B-O-N-O : Akebono Brake pads. This is only ยฝ SK Special.
You break a hole in the rubber, bad things happen. . . Like me! 10 & 11 years respectively betwixt me and the other spawn of my parents. They weren't ready for me but when it came down to it I was the one who spent years taking care of them when they needed someone not either of my sisters, oh no.
I would like to see an overview video on your sand blaster and parts washer for Noobs, in case we want to setup our own.
WOW! those Neon Green gloves! let me turn down the brightness on my monitor…..
Or for real mechanics who have been walking the same path Dr.O
What is the purple lubricant used on the brake hardware and the piston?
Why can't my mechanic be like you sir?
You forgot special sound for brake clean
Hello Eric O. I noticed that you applied lube on underside of the new brake clips but not on top of the brake clips where they meet the pads. Any particular reason why not to lube that area as well? I assume that's where the lube should go as well. I really enjoy your videos. Great Job!!!
Shops shouldn't do inspections period.
Do you have a link to the nylon drill attachment? Seems a great idea ๐๐
As people know, a lot of shop's won't put on customer supply parts so they can rape the customer..
Like you're show
Here in Oregon
The big c-word going around? How has Hillary Clinton slowed business for you?
Just went through this over the weekend, but even hot wrench wouldn't free it up. guys at oreilly, not a sponsor, had a bracket in stock so all was good.
when didnt he just use a 12m bolt like ur suppose to instead of beatin the rotor off
Isnโt the lube supposed to be on the new hardware too for the new pads to slide with the caliper side to side??
Why is loctite needed?
Never seen a stuck pin before! Heard about them of course. I normally replace all the rubber boots and redress the rotors (unless they are heavily scored). Rubber is not enduring and tends to brake down over time. Different conditions Down Under I guess. Learnt something again.
Hello Eric use too work with cars. Use cupper not. Greese on brake parts.
If he wants to buy his own parts he can put them on as far as I am concerned !!!
Could I use a wire wheel to clean up the hub?
The ole blue tip wrench
You are absolutely right on doing things the right way and not rigging things up!! Because it will come back to bite you customers always forget that they told you to do it and any time there is a problem they are calling you to fix it! I go through the same things when installing flooring a lot of people donโt want to do it right because of the cost so I tell them well I canโt help them but maybe someone else can do it for beer money and good luck!! Typically anytime someone complains about the price your better off walking away!!
