Customer Customer States Mechanic Fails Engine Transmission Gas Diesel off road race 4x4 street car daily driver scam dealership dealer technician how to

Eight and a 13, 8, 10 and a 13 810 and a 13. Hello everybody! Good day to you! Welcome back! We are hanging out underneath of a uh, very very heavy and large and long 10r 40 Ford transmission. It's got some ultra low viscosity Brown spent, worn out fluid and uh, our customer here for a transmission fluid filter replacement. You know more of those uh, Snake Oil ripoff uh services that I keep providing.

So no. Seriously though, this truck does some long haul uh uh, Automotive transport and they've got a very large trailer, big giant diesel tank in the back similar to my Duy. Silverado and uh I'm down here underneath on it's on the rack but this thing is so long and heavy that I don't want to put it all the way up in the air. So we're We're rolling around old old school style on a creeper, draining stuff out with buckets and whatnot.

Uh, what we're going to do here is I'm going to pull this transmission pan out. this a big old unit right there. We're going to pull this pan out, pop the filter out of here, and then uh, we're going to replace the filter with a new one and then I'm going to connect my transmission fluid exchange machine to one of these cooler lines and we're going to do a full-on uh, fluid exchange after the filter is replaced. Forgive me if my tone doesn't sound correct, but I'm I'm laying down horizontal and I'm holding my head up and it's a real tight squeeze down here.

so uh, making the appropriate words and the appropriate tone is a is somewhat of a challenge. So anyway, uh, like I said, we're down here draining the stuff out. that's actually the fill level plug over there. Uh, let's go around to this other side.

I'll show you what I'm talking about. If you look right up there, you see that, uh, that little plug there in that location. That's actually the location where the drain plug or uh, the uh, the The Fill tube for the dipstick would have been located. but they've deleted the dipsticks.

So now all we get is this little plug right here. So what we've got to do is use uh, this plug over here as the fill Mark when we go to refill this and since this truck's got a bit of a lean to it cuz it's on the rack uh and it's not running, the fluid level has not dropped down because the pump hasn't sucked it all up so we're a little overfilled. So I went ahead and uh and pulled the fill plug out of it in order to drain some. I'm going to go ahead and uh, start pulling these perimeter bolts loose on this pan.

We're going to drop this pan down and uh, get the rest of this fluid dumped out into some buckets here. Then we can get access to the filter. so stay tuned because this, although it is a Close Quarters combat type of situation is going to be a very good video uping. Z Hood Yeah, oh look who that guy is.

All right. So first I need to remove this little heat shield over here. sorry for the squeaking on my creeper. this is.

Held on with some 10 mm nuts. Pull these nuts off. There we go. Oh, it's still a little warm up here.
so there is our Shield set that off to the side and that's going to expose more of the Fasteners that we're going to be looking for here. So we've got some 8 Ms and some 13s. See the the 13s that are studded. those are the ones that hold on the uh, the heat shield so we have to remember where those go and then put them back in there correctly.

Location: Okay, so what I'm going to do is take some of these loose and we're going to start probably on the back side and let this pan sort of drop down and it's going to spill some fluid. We'll catch it with the uh, the drain pan here, and then collect all all the spillages. There's a wiring harness connected to another studed 13, so we're just going to pry driver that thing away, stick that guy off to the side right there. Get over there harness, stay over there harness.

That's good. Now start pulling Fasteners off. I'll start with that. that 13 I just removed.

We are dripping some fluid here so we just kind of arrest our dries. There we go. Another 13 right here, one more off to the left. and of course there's the ones on that other side that we're securing the Uh Shield over there and two more you can't see.

This is one of those humbling types of experiences that, uh, remind you where you came from all this fancy equipment. I'm still over here rolling around on the ground, but it could be worse. This thing could be caked with snow and slush and it's uh, it's dripping on me from the the melting molten snow dirt. I Need a universal to get those rear ones? That's all good.

I got one very nice, okay tool change. We've got a extendo socket or extension here with a swill socket that'll get me past this little lip right there. and I can get those rear 8 Ms removed. see the pan.

Flexed that next one and and now we're starting to drain good. Let me move my bucket over some and I probably need to go fetch the uh second bucket as well. Some of this fluid's running down that lip on the crossmember. it's starting to drain over here, which is which is not okay.

So here we'll grab this other bucket. Now we have two right there. That's good. Okay, more F sceners.

I lubricated my wrench there little. Balancing Act Check it out. That's probably not the smartest idea. No matter, I Have a an alternative I Think let's see.

Yeah, this is a messy business right here. All right, that's catching most of it. I Think let's pull some more Fasteners out. it's the one on the right there.

Jeff Okay, kind of a waiting game. Let as much of this drain out as we can and then we'll move forward. Now there is going to be a lot more fluid inside of this. uh, this pan because you see that's the shallow end over there and this the deep end over here.

So even though we are getting a good drain out of this, there is going to be a lot more captured inside. No drain plug. Unfortunately is what it is. Okay, our drain is starting to slow.
Let me get uh, another one of these bolts removed. See what happens? there's that one. Get one on the other side here now. I'm I'm off to the left, a lot under the engine.

That way if this thing starts to drip, it's not going to drip on me. There we go. Oh, and we have stopped draining. That was abrupt.

Let the rear bolt down some more. There we go. Still coming down. Okay, let's pull a few more of these.

uh, these bullets out right here. Staying out of the way of course. I Don't want to get uh spilled on I think I've got like three left and we're still draining. Get in there.

Fortunately, this pan does not carry a whole lot of gravity in it and uh, I can very easily hold it up with one hand here. So we're on our last bolt. We're going to turn this into a balancing act in a minute with a bunch of fluid inside. Okay, it's loose.

so going to grab it and let it down down. P Coming down there we go and I'll spill it off. Woohoo Not spilling it on me. Okay, got the pan removed.

Let's set this thing aside. pull up our drain a little bit more. There we go now. I need to get this filter removed I Don't know if it's bolted in somewhere or not.

Let me see here is there. Yeah, there's a bolt two. There's two on this side and I don't know if there's one on that side, but I can pull these two out. See some debris in this filter right here? Not a lot, but it's in there.

Second bolt. Okay, the filters loose need to wiggle it out and let it run. There we go. Okay, Filter is out.

Let's get out from under here. Yeah, there's our filter. Okay, here's what I want to do. Going to collect all these Fasteners that rolled around.

Push those guys off to the side all the bolts. There's some fluid. We're not going to dump this out just yet cuz I'm going to measure it. We're going to measure how much we drained out of this and then I'm going to pump that exact amount back into it.

That way, when we do the fluid exchange on it in order to get all the fluid out of the cooler and the lines and the torque converter, we're not trying to pump a transmission that's 8 quarts low on fluid I think that's an 8q spec. so again, I'll save that, measure it, put that back in, and then we'll connect the machine over there and then do the actual fluid exchange with the Uh the filter. And and no I don't need to to do the fluid exchange on the old filter. We can put a new filter in there and exchange it.

It's it's fine doing it that way. Uh, either. Either way is actually fairly acceptable. Here we go: Okay, let's get out from under here real quick and check out our new filter.

We'll clean the pan out while we're at it. Come here, you are you done draining? It's not there. This filter holds like two quarts of fluid. How about that? Okay, and we're out.
Woohoo! Come on Filter coming with me. Okay, let's do some comparing here. New filter, old filter looks good. need to clean the magnet off and wipe out uh, all this residual here and we'll be good to go.

And this gasket is reusable and my customer brought this filter to use. Uh. He also brought the amzo to use as well. So we're going to use his hams oil and his filter so there is no gasket.

but again, these are reusable. Oh by the way. Shameless Self prom motion moment. Uh, if you would like to get yourself some AMS oil uh to use in your vehicle, Uh, just check the video's description and there will be a link to my AMS Oil Dealer page where you can acquire your own synthetic premium quality.

AMS Oil Fluids that includes engine oil ATV Oil, Motorcycle fluids, lawnmowers, boats, airplanes, trains, submarines, you name it am. well has got it here. Let's drain it out again. Snake Oil.

We don't need to do any of that right. Pish posh. Let's give this a wipe down. That's the magnet designed to catch metallic components and particles.

Wipe that guy off, make it nice and shiny. It's rotating so I can't I can't wipe it normally I've got to like hold it from two sides to wipe it. There we go Good. Let's get the rest of this stuff out of here.

Okay A little bit of nice shiny action. Clean that out real nice. like look some debris. Beautiful, super clean.

Wipe out all the leftovers here R All that stuff. Let it dry. Okay, we'll let that dry up and in the meantime we can go back down below and get this new filter. uh, reinstalled onto the valve body.

going back in cover me. Okay, now there's a seal right there. See that little seal in there? That seal is in place so no need to mess with it. All we need to do is take this guy and just kind of Wiggle that right back into its position here.

Slide it on in. There we go now. I can get the two Fasteners back into position here. bolt filter into its home.

These bolts were unequal length. Look at that. see that two different lengths of Bolt So I got a 50/50 chance of getting it right? I think that one's good there longer one. Gravity almost hit me in the face.

longer one right up here in the front. Now we're going to need to torque these with a torque wrench because these bolts are also part of the Uh Fastener system for the valve body. So the proper torque is uh is necessary. You guys can't see what I'm doing here tightening them down.

There we go. We go fetch torque wrench and get these things actually clicked and then we may proceed. Okay/ quar inch torque wrench coming in here. Just two click.

got that one, one more in the front here. one more swing. there we go. Click is beautiful.

Okay I'm rolling back in here again. you guys can't see but cuz I'm pointing up there and not down here. but I've got the got the pan nice and cleaned out. Let's get this thing set up into its position here.
get her bolted back down. We get a couple bolts in it to secure the unit. Oh by the way, I think I called this a 2012 earlier. um I don't know what I was thinking.

this is a 21 I don't know if I called it a 21 when uh, when I first opened up this V here. but I believe it's a uh, a 21. it's not a 12. Must have got those uh, flippy flopped a little bit inside of my crane branium.

so uh, pardon me for my aor. Okay, there we go Now the pan is in position. Let's get the let's get the bolts in 97 INB sir the bolts and 100 106 for the Uh studs. Uh, 106 on the studs, 97 on the bolts.

That's the torque spec now we know. GI Okay, let's get the studs in. We get one in the corner. that's the one that hangs on to the the harness there.

Uh, this one I believe. Went right here in this corner, right there. and then I've got three on the other side that were supposed to secure the heat shield. so one goes there, the other goes here on this corner right there.

and then this one goes here. Yeah, excellent. And I believe that this one goes right there. So that's where all the studs are supposed to be placed.

If my memory serves uh correctly, now, we'll get the rest of these bolts in and we'll go around and begin the torquing sequences. Got bunch of them out back in the back, way out back all the way out back in the rear. Yeah, laying down here is kind of. It's tweaking my brain.

Things that I'm not normally going to be finding funny or I'm laughing at losing it n I'm just kidding I've already lost it. That happened years ago. It's a developed a per personality uh, based on trauma and work rated stress and nonsense, treachery, thievery and such things like that. Uh, not my thievery.

I'm not. uh I'm not on board with thievery in the workplace, but some people are corporate. America Loud cough I Guess said the other day. the voices are getting louder and mine are too.

People are getting a little fed up. There we go. You can't see the bolt, but I I got it in there. We're good.

Okay, let's run down these Fasteners here. We'll preliminarily tighten them and then we'll hit them with the little clicky wrench. Round and round we go. That one got me trans fluid to the face.

That one's tight. Get that one back here. There we go. We come full circle.

Look at that. it's a circular transmission I can't get it on I'm losing it. This is one of those days. I guess I I Feel a wife unit lurking where you at? darling over here I knew I KN Oh how there's a truck in the way I Can see you I can see you I Just want to tell you you're the coolest.

You're the coolest. Thanks Darling! She's the best ever. He let's get the the studs next run around. Click these guys in.

come on stud H next one, get on there. Oh look at there I missed one R Row here now I've unmissed it. Beautiful. Okay okay.
torque wrench coming in Next let's go ahead and get these. uh the 8 Ms Torque first. mini clicks. There we go.

Another more clicks. get the ones up. Oh man, look I missed another one one right in front of me like right in front of me. Completely missed that one.

Roi That's fine. Like I said, this is a humbling experience I'm a little winded I Just uh, pushed an F-150 I need to bring a lawn mower to work so I can stop pushing cars around and just use a mower to tow them. That would be ideal. They make a like battery powered car pushing devices or whatever but they're really expensive I mean really expensive and I just don't want to spend like x amount of thousands of dollar for a half a battery powered golf cart.

You know it's like a two- wheed golf cart with a handle. They're really cool devices. Oh I need I need to up the torque on this 107 I Think we'll do 110 for fun inch pounds of torque, not foot pounds. There we go.

Okay, that guy is secured, installed, torqued down. Now we need to get some fluid back in this unit and we can hook up the the machine and do the fluid exchange. Hang on Forgetful Me I Forgot the little plate here. That's what we started with I Hit myself in the face with some nuts.

I Just dropped this one. caught me right in the face and that's the wrong socket. Here we go. Click.

Loud clicks, Metallic. loud click. Oh sure. Okay, okay let's get out of here.

and I'm going to take my my jug of fluid with me. We're going to measure this stuff out and see how much we need to put back in to refill the levels. and then we will, uh, conduct the exchange with the machine. That's the plan here.

Okay, time to consolidate here. Pump that in there. We don't need two buckets. Nasty.

look at that. Oh real quick for everybody. That tells me that these transmission filters are, uh, they're not a screen. I've been calling them like more of a screen sighting that you don't really have to replace them extremely often.

I Want to show you something? Look at here. there's the Ford receipt and it says screen assembly. See that screen. It says screen.

These are a screen. They're not like a like an oil filter or an air filter. They're a screen. So let's get our measuring vessel here.

I'm actually probably going to have to fill up two of these just to measure this out. These are both six qu drain buckets. All right. that is my six qut Mark right there.

that's six and 78 n. We pulled out nine quz total. So I will have to put nine back in to complete the flush gotcha. Okay so here's how this is going to work.

All the AMS oil is going to go in the fluid exchange machine. I'm going to pump the fluid the nine quarts that I need to refill the pan into to the pan with the drive line machine cuz that's just kind of a one-way pump. That machine does not have a pump, it's just designed to use the Transmissions pump to exchange the fluid. This one actually does have an electric pump, so we're going to use this one to pump this fluid in to refill that pan.
Then we're going to hook this vehicle to this machine, use this fluid to exchange everything else that's in the system. and yes, these will mix a little bit, but for the most part, we're going to end up flushing out most of this fluid with this fluid right here. You might find that to be kind kind of a waste, but you have to understand this truck is out on the road Towing things and it makes money. So even though it's a sort of a waste, it's actually not okay.

So what I'm going to do I Need to purge out all of the differential oil that is currently in the lines on this machine. So I will do that inside of this drain bucket right here. So we're going to go to fill and fill. Pull that out some fire it up open.

Whoa. Well that's not what I wanted to happen. but you know things happen sometimes you just catch one to the face. There we go.

look at that trans fluid. Don't don't don't do it. I it's still going. No close the valve.

That was awesome. Okay, so the machine is successfully purged and I'm I'm purged. That was like the ultimate money shot to everything. Uh, I need to go take a shower.

I'll be right back. All right I'm going back in H. Hang on here. This is getting harder and harder every time.

I Do it. Getting old right? Cody Yeah, yeah, getting old getting getting that old man technician back going on here. Now here's the thing if: I Splash this fluid down here I'm screwed cuz I have nowhere to, nowhere to run to and I don't really want to do that. So what I'm going to do is we're going to stick this guy in the hole here.

and I've got the the drain pan under it. Let's go ahead. need to open up the valve now. This is pumping in ultra low viscosity.

ATF Cody Go ahead and fire it up Sir us to Fil. Is it filling? Yep. Uh. stick the tube down inside of the box.

There you go. Yeah and I believe let's temp some fate here and pull the uh, the dangly bit out. see what happens? Okay, yeah, we're refilling, refilling, refilling, Just going to fill this up all the way. Once the uh, the pan here is filled, then uh.

I'll tap into this line right here and then use the other machine to perform a fullon. Exchange Come on with it. My flanges are getting fatigued, just keep failing. failing.

Faing, Hey, Cody this as boring for you as it is for me? I'm I'm kind of bored. Yeah, it's a little boring. We're just standing here watching fluid displace. You know what they need? What's that? They need to make a wireless key for this so we can hit on and off.

Yeah, Oh hey. go ahead and shut her down. We're overflowing now now. Okay, so the pan has now been refilled.
Okay, so what I'm going to do? We're going to grab the little plug here and plug this guy back off. It's still probably a little low, but uhoh oh, come on there we go. Yeah, it's still probably a little bit low, but this is enough fluid in the system to perform the exchange at this point. So we're going to go ahead and put that plug back in.

for now. We need to pull it out again later to make sure the level is correct. but not until the uh. the service is complete and we can run the engine and get this up to operating temperature.

So let's see, there's a a precooler in and outlines I think I'm going to crack into the system probably right here at this fitting. I think that's probably going to be best that there. Okay, let's pull this guy off now I need to strategically make sure that I don't saturate myself in transmission fluid here cuz I've already uh, had to change my shirt more than once I don't want to do it again. Is that blood? No thought I was bleeding.

wiggle wiggle. Oh, wait a minute. Oh, that's the coolant side. Hang on here.

I'm doing something incorrectly that's not trans fluid, that's engine coolant. I don't want to hook the machine up to that epic failure. so we're going to have to break into this on the uh, the other side. It looks like on that side over there.

Okay, redo 1, 2, 3, 4 machine right? Yeah, Unclick that. So yeah, what happened here is there's the trans cooler lines and they just go into this cooler. Then this cooler exchanges heat with engine coolant. so it's a cool cooler in a cooler.

That is the uh, the issue here. So what I must do is unbolt this guy which it's reluctant to come out here. we go. Yeah, we're going to take this off and I need to plug into this transmission at these two fittings.

Uh, somehow someway let figure that out. and I also need to take this cooler loose. uh from the bell housing here. Okay, more 13 mil studs.

I think I got three of them, four of them. Yes, there we go. Do I have another? uh, negatory. All right.

Now that that's loose, we'll keep pulling out. uh, the single bolt here. that uh, connects this unit. There we go.

comea and there we go. Come out, come out. Okay, that's the problem. Look at all it lock tight.

that's why I didn't want to come out. so now me just kind of Wiggle this thing back and get these guys disconnected here and see if I can come up with an adapter to fit uh, onto the side of this case. I need to modify this adapter to fit the bolt hole. Get in there.

got it. Clean it off some here so we don't pump metal into our trans. There we go. Okay, now let's grab the hoses and get down below.

I have the adapters. uh, set up in a method that is going to provide a decent exchange. So we've got two lines here. There's the hot side, that's the the fluid coming out.
that's cold side fluid going back in. So what we've done here is remove that, uh, whole system from the circuit. We've got the hot side here and then I've got the return going into the pan right here. so it's going to suck it up.

Uh, transfer it all through the system, do the exchange, and it's just going to return the new fluid straight into the pan. So this, uh, in theory, uh, should be sufficient. So let's get all this stuff connected properly here. Ideally, I would have liked to have connected to that other hole up there, but uh, that wasn't going to work out for us.

So we're we're improvising and uh, hopefully this is going to going to work. Either it going to work or it's not there. We go. that's nice and connected.

Let's see if uh, this is going to function or uh, if we're up a creek here. Okay, here goes nothing. Cody's in the cab. hey, he's going to hit the key real quick and fire it up.

and we're going to go down here and pretend we're not going to get, uh, destroyed with fluid. Cody Go ahead man. fire it up. All right.

Nothing's pouring out anywhere. Do we have flow? yet? we don't have flow yet. Let's give it a minute here. Aha, we're getting somewhere we have flow.

Cool. All right. Hey man. go ahead and shut her down.

Cool. We're good. So at this point I'm comfortable. Uh, filling up this system here.

We're going to fill the machine up with the AMS oil and then Begin The Exchange Okie Does the machine has been filled build to the brim with our AMS oil? Cody's still in the cab? Hey, go ahead and turn her over again. Let's wait for our fluid. continuing the leak check Na n NADA we have flow little bit of bubbles in that flow I need to go down and uh pull that plug out the side, make sure the loot the fluid level is all the way up. all righty so check it out.

our bubbles have subsided. we have really good flow in both directions. Let's go ahead and begin the process. This machine is going to take the old fluid out.

It's going to send it into this storage tank right here which is a twart tank. There's a a bladder inside. When we fill the new fluid in, it pushes the bladder down and the tank is uh filled with a new fluid. As the old fluid comes in, it's pushing up on the bladder, displacing the new fluid, sending that back into the transmission pan as it again as it's recovering the old fluid from the pump.

SL pressure SL hot side We can see here. here's our flow right there. So we've got the mixture of the old fluid and the new fluid that we put into the pan and that's being displaced with this brand new AMS oil which is uh, what's uh, what we want to run ultimately in this truck. So we're going to do this for about 5 or 6 minutes when we see a pressure differential on the new fluid ID side versus the old fluid side, that's how we know it's complete.

The used fluid gauge is going to Peg up a little bit, the new fluid gauge is going to drop down a little bit and once that's finished, we can flip our lever back to bypass and disconnect, reconnect the cooler and this uh operation will be complete after we set the final fluid level at that little plug on the driver's side of the unit. Oh, here we go. Look, we're up to about 28 PSI and we Dro down to 15 on that side. So the system has completed the exchange.
Let's go ahead and shut this down. We'll shut down the 67 turbine power diesel, disconnect all of uh, our equipment, then I've got to restart it, pull that plug out of the side, and then top it off with the vehicle running. So let's go ahead and give it the Oh I can't even reach it's too high up. Give that thing to reach around here.

power down, it's push button. Very good. Okay going back back in again. Let's start to uh, let's get everybody disconnected here Now that exhaust is a little bit warm so I need to uh, exercise some caution on that I think I can I can manage without uh, grave injury to the flanges? Oh, come on now there is hoses on my face.

h How did I do this? Disconnect this in sections Here we're going to spill some. Yep little bit of drippage. Okay, throw that one over there. Let's get that guy disconnected.

More drippage. Very good. So I know I've been down here for a while cuz my flashlights are starting to die. We're about three or so hours into this job.

There's an adapter and I need to unscrew this one. This one threads in to the top of the case. That's where the dipsticks used to be. Let turn that guy and unthread it.

and that one I need to unbolt it. This is murder on the flanges. All right. there we go.

We're picking up speed. The O-ring is no longer gripping on the ceiling surface. Look, I'm just mere millimet away from some burning action. That's cool.

Okay, 10 mm. where'd you go? Socket Wrench: Okay, let's pull off this last adapter. There we go here. I'll just point you that way now it can't leak on my face.

a That could have hurt. Went too fast, ran off the rails. Oopsie, Yeah. I couldn't get this on that adapter piece once the adapter piece was installed.

so I had to attach it and then put the adapter into the trans. Yeah, look at that. See, it doesn't come out there. we go.

So then I'll just take the uh, the cooler and slide those cooler lines back into their positions there since there's fluid leaking out, those are already lubricated. Wiggle that guy back on just like that. Then we'll take that bolt, put the bolt back, and then Bolt the cooler back to the bell housing. Then we need to restart the engine and check Final fluid level cuz again, it's got to be running.

It should be pretty close. but I imagine I'm going to have to add a little bit now. I Know I said earlier that uh, the fluid in the cooler would have been exchanged, but unfortunately. um, there is fluid in that cooler that's not going to be exchanged.
Um, can't do anything about that cuz I'm not going to hook the machine to the cooler just to exchange a quar or quart of fluid. That's just not realistic. It's going to take a lot of time and I'm just not going to do that. But it's okay.

of course, according to the Critics on the interwebs, it's wrong in thever blah blah blah catched. a lot of flak lately. it must be my Cavalier attitude door due to complacency. or I'm a crybaby.

Someone called me a crybaby the the other day cuz I was complaining about uh, morons driving around with their high beams on. Yeah see look, we got a winner. Look at that right back there with the blue light turned on in their Dash foolishness. Click.

That guy's tight. Okay, we've got three more Fasteners to get in position here to rescure the uh, the cooler to the bell housing. Let's get these guys started and set up here. There's one right in there and then the third one.

Come on. third one, a little off here. Hang on. No lumens for everyone and I dropped my my bolt.

There it is. There's that one last one right here. Cool all right. Cooler is now reattached.

Let's get out of here. I'm to get my tools out and then we need to go around back to that corner and reset the final fluid level and this job is complete Is okay. Going back in around all of my equipment here. let's get this thing fired back up.

We're already prepared to, uh, use the machine to pump in the remainder of the new fluid here. Climb on in this unit. It's push button so you got to have your foot on the brake to start it. Okay, brake on.

beginning engine starting sequence now. good to go. Let's hold the brake some I'm going to through the gears. We'll go reverse forward I Felt it back to reverse neutral forward.

So far so good. We'll throw it back in park. let me climb on out of here and we'll go pull that plug and then refill. Uh, refill that trans to the specified level.

Here we go. Okay, machines powered back on. Got the last quart or so of AMS oil the hose has been purged. So what we're going to do.

Let's take this, uh, business into the hose, bring it on over to the drain plug area. or I'm sorry the fill level plug area. It's not a drain plug, so let's figure out how low we are here. We might not need to add any.

no, do need to that a little bit. Okay, no worries. Ah, flashlight in my face. Dang Here we go.

Okay, stick that guy in I'm opening the valve. the one that's right here by my hand valve that open and as soon as we start to get some overflow, that's the maximum level and then there it is. There's our overflow, close it up spilling on the floor. We get the plug.

All right. Cool. That's how we set the L level. Let's get the tool out, get some torque on that unit.
There we go. a pigm to save the day. that's for our spillage and then we'll get this little plug tightened up and clicks and the wiring harness needs to be res secured. Take get on there harness.

Beautiful. All right. So far so good. We're almost done here.

Wipe me Down! Okay So this was a three flashlight job is a big deal because I ran out of batteries in three flashlights. Let's power that down. Let's get this thing cleaned up and out of here and we were almost one qut low after it was all said and done with. Not too shabby says I Put that down there Good.

All right. We're going back in one more time. We have a grand finale. See the thing is is uh I Got fluid everywhere so we need to clean that off.

give it a spray down all along the crossmember, all along the pan, the plugs, the lines. there. we go, make it nice and shiny. Cool.

All right. let's get out of here and let this thing down. I think we're in good shape. Woo Okay we're off the rack.

lift arms are cleared. I Got all the tools out from under. everything's looking good here. Let's go ahead and let this unit down.

those are up. Wipe off my fingy prints. There we go. I'm just kidding I'm actually going to wipe it down.

There we go. Okay, let's go take this thing out on the row ad real quick. Take it for a ride. We have to get the fluid up to temperature.

We're not at operating temp yet. See that right there? We got to get her up to Temp I think that's trans. Anyway, we need to get thing up to temperature so we're going to go drive it around at 68383 Mi on the odometer, we're going to go drive her around and then uh I've got to recheck that fluid level one more time. since now, she's sitting true flat in level.

Uh, on occasion you can have a an incorrect reading if it's on the lift because like we saw in this one, the lift was leaning back ever so slightly and that was going to favor the rear of the pan for the fluid to pull up into. And if it does that, then when we're sitting level, we might actually be a little low. And that's not okay. So backing out the auto honks for safety.

That's to alert the pedestrians of an oncoming motor vehicle. It's going to be a tight squeeze to get out of here. Rounding the corner of Death looking good there Cody Looking good Looking Good Good on this side too. How about those trash cans? Clearing the trash cans? Right on.

Oh yeah, it's got cameras I Forgot. All right folks, we're going to do the normal test drive. We're going to make a series of right-hand turns till we end up on our left, up and over the bridge, then a series of left hand turns till we end up right here in front of us. and, uh, that will conclude our test drive.

Circle At that point, we should have fluid up to temperature and we'll go come back in one more time, recheck the level, and uh, this operation will be complete. Uh, I Do not feel the need to, uh, to waste valuable video and viewer time with one more recheck. So I'm going to go ahead and call this one good right now. Uh, she appears to be shifting very smoothly.
It's operating as designed. We have successfully removed all the junk fluid and I have not put on my seat belt Breaking the law. So we've removed all the junk, worn out, and deteriorated fluid we've installed. Premium, high quality, fully synthesized AMS Oil Fluid: Uh, supplemented with a little bit of Uh of my BG fluid because we just didn't have enough AMS Oil Uh, this I believe this system requires 28 quarts of Uh of fluid and uh I think my guy only brought like 20 or so.

So regardless, doesn't matter. The things full. it's got brand new fluid. Yes, both of those fluids are compatible.

They are ultra low viscosity and they do meet the Uh exact specifications required for this particular 10r 40, 10r, 140 transmission. So anyway guys, I'm going to goe and close this one out right now. I'd like to do such things as always by thanking each and every one of you for watching this video. I Hope you enjoyed this video and I hope you found it to be uh, moderately educational and perhaps even somewhat entertaining.

Uh, if you found it to be any of those things, please feel free to weigh in on that in the comment section down below. Do Not forget to tap that like button while you're down there. Uh, consider subscribing if you like this kind of content and would like to see more. And most importantly, have yourselves a great day.

See you guys later in a video in a F in of F3e fit End of transmission fluid filter exchange End of transmission See what I did there into transmission Dad joke.

slide the trailer un from the back of the vehicle and put blocks on it to make it lift the vehicle when you pull down on the Handlebars…

Thanks for the video Ray. Question, can't you hook the machine up to the lines going to the radiator? Actually if you could, one line to the radiator hole and the other to the line, therefore doing a complete flush, radiator, cooler and all. Seems feasible if it will hook up that way. I know that little bit in the cooler is no big deal, but the other way may be easier. I don't do complete flushes myself, just filter and fluid in the pan. It has been a long time since I've done one. I'll give you a clue on how long, It was an Oldsmobile, dextron 2.

I would love to see a transmission filter/pan and fluid replacement on an 8 speed ram transmission. The fluid and filter are supposed to be good for the life of the vehicle, I don't believe it! Any information would be appreciated. Thanks for the best channel on you tube Ray.

Had to laugh when you were talking about the snow and yuck. Just had to replace the conductor plate in my 6R80 transmission in my ford f150 in my driveway, with a floor jack, 22 degrees outside, the day after we received 18” of snow. Felt you were speaking directly to me with that comment. lol.

I just did this on my own car and had a bath in the trans fluid. Also made a huge mess on my garage floor. Would it be too much to ask for a simple drain plug. Also my fluid was exactly the same colour as this one. overdue.
