In a previous video "Volkswagen Jetta: P2431 Secondary Air Injection Signal Improbable" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6xQOh8O4OY&t I made the call to the best of my ability on the secondary AIR pressure sensor. Now it is time to find out if I was right or wrong. -Enjoy!

I'm working on a vw new bettle 2.5 bpr. Secondary monitor won't clear. Bump works, valve opens and closes. Pump just won't come on. Does anyone know if the module monitors the ambient air temp sensor or the iat sensor to know its at a cold start? I know that it looks at ambient air and coolant temp to determine if it's at a cold start but I can't find any info if they use the iat sensor or ambient air temp. Anyone?
your an awesome mechanic skills are over the top good video
love vdubs, worked on all the the old ones from 2000 back to the bingeing. Those 5 cylinder motors never seam too do good by any manufacture . You did a bang up job as usual. Your a Great teacher !
Another great video.
For a guy who says he's not really a V-Dub guy you sure worked smooth on that V-Dub.
😅😂🤣
Just wish that you would have showed the install
Ross Tech.
Have to think about your r.o.i. One euro a month might not be worth it.
And I bet that the sensor was aftermarket, no?
I'd let you work on my V-Dub any day. I'm very protective of my 2006 VW New Beetle 2.5L, 5cly, 5spd manual. Clocking 277,000 miles on it. But has a Secondary Air Monitor that will not run. Cannot Pass inspection. I just dumped a fortune into the exhaust too.
UPDATE!
I informed the shop, where I had my car, about the forced in bay drive cycle than can be run on VWs. The secondary air monitor ran in the bay and PASSED! So.. Inspection passed!
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!
Great Mr owe.loved every minute of it.
You do excellent work. Without a shop manual and working with limited data at times. A five cylinder engine very as you say wonky. Laughable that all these companies try to be different with their systems and motors. None are quite better tham the next. Except small innovation. Feel it's all about money on all levels.
Keep up your great work and fixing other mechanics work. 🙂👍
Did a very good job VW not the easiest cars to work on
I think they put a MAP sensor in place of the air sensor. Makes sense that a map would be biased higher if it primarily deals with vacuum.
Good even with limited information available on the vehicle!
I have an 08 Jetta with a 2.5 . Any idea where that sensor is located ? Mine is not in the same place
You're a Volkswagen guy now!😁
Awesome video i have the same problem here i am wonder if can you help me with the part number off the sensor by it self please and thank you
Not generally a Volkswagen fan.. but a friend of mine had a 2001 Volkswagen Passat back when it was new. . It was very nice car but not sure how reliable it was as it got older..
I find it really hard to get rid of permanent codes after the fix whats the secret to get rid of that saved data when u know problem was fixed?
Nice!!
You did just fine Mr O.
Eww a vw
Had a shop throw the pressure sensor, the tube, a secondary air pump AND a new egr on one of these. Pulled the tube from the edge to the head and found massive carbon build up on the head side.
My jetta has code 2431. This error only causes the CEL to light up after two cold engine starts. the first one detects the fault and if in the second match the fault persists, the CEL lights up. Is there any way to reset the ECU so that I can validate the result after sensor replacement? Because I have to wait for the engine to cool before I can start it again.
I apologize if I have any errors, but I do not speak English and I used google translator to write this text.
Omg hadda say European cars are still a car and they have powers grounds engines and transmissions. They are easier to work on and actually way more fun. There the reason why I bought a scope and yep a basic code reader. When I’m trying to get someone fired I use my free multimeter from harbor freight. Forget snappy they blow computers the fuck up, Mac Matco launch Autel.
Omg really you make about a million plus a year your asking donations. This is why.
Where’s your lab scope sir
"MR WIZARD" YOU DID IT AGAIN!
i used to own a 1980 vw dasher that didn't run and boy what a learning curb that was. finally figured out the previos owner had wired the fuel pump to the tail lights so it would run when i turn the headlights on but there was 12v on the fuel lines! and it messed up the fuse box changed the fuse box and the headlight switch and wired the fuel pump to a relay and it ran beautiful until the starter went out i finally sold it to a guy who loves vw's. paid 25 bucks for the car sold it for 200 and i learned a bit about vw's
I hope you got VW money for that job!
Am watching this from the uk and as a vw tech my self I must say good job
love this guy
Eric, remember, VW has had some "issues" with their EVAP systems. Lol
Btw check out Ross Tech. They make the software that communicates with the in board diag systems in VW/Audi. It's a very much more automated diagnostic experience.
I'm not very good on cars with metric nuts and bolts. But I'm learning!
If a CEL is not on when I hop in s VW im honestly shocked.
Whistling at Mrs O to get her attention. So brave!
Mate that is a fantastic bit of fumbling…your innate car intuition is better than many so called "specialists" …you is the man…love your work…go you good thang
Hey eric o just picking your brain have you ever seen a brake booster cause a low pedal?
Whenever I see a horse and carriage I'm reminded of Seinfeld when Kramer is a chauffeur and horse has horrible gas… "Oh Rusty!!!"
You the man Eric!
have to love auto makers and their parts that look similar fit correctly yet wrong part…( i worked on V-Dubs back in the 80s…lets just say they make better sauerkraut.)
Loved the series Eric! I have a soft spot for VAG and hope you do more videos when they come in the shop.
VCDS by Ross-Tech is what most independent shops use in the US for troubleshooting VAG, it's inexpensive and is updated regularly.
Love your channel your real no fake crap. You should show blooper videos we mechanics make mistakes and do stupid stuff. Just a suggestion
This is better than an Agatha Christie novel! Who would have guessed that two different suspect parts fit exactly the same?
There’s probably a good DIY thread for this repair on the VW forums. When unfamiliar with a certain model, I seriously recommend people start with a google search on a car’s online forum.
