It’s a fact that you are an honest man and I appreciate your message,,! You have a lot of common sense that most people don’t. Keep up the great work and don’t leave because of some folks that don’t think about your position. I appreciate your site. I have learned a lot considering the time that I have been seeing you. Many blessings to you and the family, Mig
People calling to ask you to diagnose car problems over the phone? What a waste of time. It's hard to pinpoint issues over phone. It's way better to do a video/web search. Watch the video and compare it your problem.
I have just recently gotten turned on to your channel. Like you, I am a small business operator just like yourself, I'm the CEO, the CFO, the Manager, Staff, and the Janitor. I also depend on my phone to make my living. You also depend on your phone to make your living, and when the viewers call they rob you of your opportunity to make your living. Yes, your biggest mistake was to reveal your identity and your shop name for all of youtube nation to see. I appreciate that you owned up to it but the damage has been done. I vigorously defend my phone number and I do not do any form of media advertising. It's all word of mouth and it has served me well over the past 13 years.
VIEWERS! DON'T CALL THE SHOP! If you continue to call his shop the videos will cease. I enjoy the videos and learn a lot from them since I am also in the repair business. If the videos stop we will all not only lose the learning experience but also lose an excellent source of entertainment.
I probably missed this but a jeep is the only vehicle your contemplating for this build, besides a jeep. My experience had a Cherokee sport was great stock 4×4. I've never had a wrangler they always seemed flimsy and cheaply made. Did you ever think of doing a project car/truck every year. I'd love to see a older Chevy p/u. Great video thanks for the time.
For people calling for a diagnosis, give 'em Scotty's phone number! When people call me for an estimate, i always ask them "What color shirt am i wearing?" they say HUH? then i tell them i cant know what is wrong with your car without looking at it first. Works pretty good!
You, and your wife are awesome and have done a lot to help a lot of people, myself included which then helps my family because I can use that knowledge to fix their vehicles. I would never think of calling you at your shop even if I lived across the street from you. If I had one complaint or criticism it would be to say you appologized way too much. You are not a jerk for asking people to not call your shop and may need to do something like this every now and then because some people will miss this one but may catch the other. Now for your audience, if you are one of those people who feels like they need to call and can't get your answers from watching his videos, then I'm giving and educated guess here that you should seriously think about putting your tools away and scheduling your vehicle for your local mechanic.
Eric, I'm late to this video but the truth is the same: to thine own self be true. Hold the course. This is one of my favorite channels and I hope you hand in there.
Eric, you can't close the channel, you are too good to leave. Ignore the A-friends and do what you are the best in. You are bit more than just a good mechanic, you have a gift, keep it.
So sorry that you have to deal with people who just don’t have a clue. If I lived in your town, I’d have you work on my vehicles. I don’t, so I don’t. Simple as that.
Eric, when your that good your that good! I can’t go out for lunch for the same reason. I bought the last try hub remover from Astro that you suggested and my oh my what a great tool, thanks for the help.
Some things are parts house issues…lookups is not your gig…Appliance business I had of that…nuisance stuff…do lookup… Leave message…they don't call back…old cranky peeps…stubborn…etc… And repeating the estimate hubby wife syndrome…etc I wouldn't call you… Dealing with the public.
The "forum" might be good, you seem to have viewers with a wide range of abilities. And the fact that experienced mechanics are some of those watching, who apparently have some time on their hands, some could possibly offer helpful advice and have the time to follow up .
You seem to be a great guy, Doing this YouTube channel with your great personality is a no brainier that you will develop a following and with that comes a degree of fame. You are a smart guy and I am sure you know this. Some people call just to talk with you and it can be about anything but they just to talk to you. Therefore you will not stop getting the calls and threatening to take down your channel will have very little effect other than make you look ungrateful. I know that's not your intention but it does come off that way. If it really comes to it change your number and deal with it or follow through and stop YouTube. I'm sure the YouTube money aint bad.
Love your channel, I kinda figured you would get to this point.. this is exactly why I sand floors as a side job. When you are refinishing floors, people leave you alone and it’s a good way to blow off steam after frustrating electrical problems all day.
But you are really good. I have 12 years on loco electrical systems, mass electrician license, HVAC and boiler experience.. and you are pretty fuckn good.
If you don't know how to figure out if you have drum or disc brakes then how in the hell you planning on changing them? If you can jack up the car to take a wheel off then you can GET YOUR ASS DOWN THERE TO FIND OUT! IF YOU CANT FIGURE THAT PART OUT YOU NEED MORE THEN THAT ANSWER! YOU ALREADY WAY IN OVER YOUR HEAD AND BRAKES ARE SKILL LEVEL MODEL SPRINT CAR FROM THE HOBBY SHOP!! AGES 10 AND UP! HOLY SHEET!
Thats the way most other shops do it. They have a community type forum. For example one may have a problem send a question in. The mechanic may amnswer it. And about ten others may also send in message saying they have the same vehicle and had the same problem and tell the first guy what fixed his problem.problem.. Now you may have the same problem but the solution may be different. I have had two cars same make one year difference. Come in missing but one needed a plug wire and the other had a vacuu9m leak.. Also most vehicles come with owners manual. Get to know your vehicle leave it by your favorite chair the restroom, anywhere you have reading material. For instance a friend of mine found out that the parking brake had a small lever to release it. He had the type that when pressed more it would disengage. Problem is when it did not disengage one time he cut the cable.

You're 1000% RITE, if they really want to know what is going on with their vehicle then they can pay you for doing the job.
Otherwise they can go to the local trade school and get the education and knowledge to fix it themselves!!!!
In western penna. Lug nut was a common term. Since about 1950.
