In this video I have a look at a 2014 Chevrolet Captiva that came in from the auction with an air bag light on indicating a problem in the passenger presence module. Let's have a look and see what the issue is. -Enjoy!

Just watched this today, Nov 19, 2021, so maybe this has been said already…The most hilarious part…Most Eligible Bachelor "Careful, she's wet there, a little damp in the seat." Eric "Not my first time". Spit my coffee on that!!!

  6. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars סבתא רבא says:

It's not always true when Eric says "remember if I can do it, you can do it" I don't think even GM could do this job, even there own scantool couldn't solve the problem and would just tell the customer to buy a new car.

  7. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bill Scott says:

Hi Eric, How long do you leave the battery unhook before doing work on air bag system ?

  8. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Gene Foster says:

Put a solid piece of 12 guage wire where the fuse is and follow the smoke. The go to a junkyard an buy the seat belt hatch and insert it in the buckle. Then put your mother in law in the passenger seat and hit a big tree.

  9. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jman V says:

Is possible to unlock a replaced passenger presence module without going to the stealership? What code reader/scanner tool will get it done?

When I was quiet in my GM cars I heard them rust.

I see that it had an upholstery cleaning ie a big covering of ( Bullshit spray ) 😳😂😂😂

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars EAS MCMLXXII says:

The dealership wouldnt have resolved the issue because the part is backordered and they wouldnt have went to a salvage yard and bought a used seat.

  15. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kent Adams says:

Chevy dealer: "we can't fix it but we re-stained your seat"

excellent info on the backlog and est. labor costs; my 2016 Verano performs ghost passenger seat sensing-intermittently on when no occupant present and same on/ff states when occupant present–I'd be concerned if it was a primary restraint trunk full of lawn & leaf bags; thank you; the research is ovah!

  19. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Eric Richardson says:

Junkyards are a best friend for those who need to save a buck. Had a former mechanic save me a ton of $$$ on going with a junkyard part. They are former because they tried scamming my mom out of roughly $800 bucks over a $80 oil pan gasket

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Braun Howitzer says:

They're on galactic back-order because they are Opel's built for the European markets and sold poorly in the US. The Buick Regal has the same issue: parts availability and basically junk.

  21. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Larry Snoddy says:

    U can do it . I can't do it

  22. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Adventures with TTFNCachn says:

The more gadgets there car has the more that will break down. Wait until the sun visors have separate modules.

  23. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Conrail Fan says:

Nice fix Eric, don't you miss the old
days when you had to replace heated seat pads or seat covers and
you had to cut a hundred hog rings
to get the cover off!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂

  24. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Matt Taylor says:

Ha. Maybe that's the reason why the seats are on infinite backorder.. no autels at every dealer 🤔

  25. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Brice B says:

I can hear the stealership already. "It has a brand new passenger seat!"

  26. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars G Gordon says:

It was much easier in the old days.

  27. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Bean Lam says:

  29. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars KindCreature1 says:

Why is it that my trash in my vehicle is ok, but other people's messes kinda grosses me out? I do occasionally pick things up though.
    Mike

  30. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars GSC says:

How the fuck am I suppose to fix my vehicle with all these modelers stuffed in my vehicle ass!! Don't want to pay a mechanic or a program fee so my seat can act like a seat!! I mean… what the fuck it's not the curiosity rover from Mars….just want to drive down the road..

  31. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Rob Banta says:

was the seat soiling related to the faulty bladder sensor? pee soaked into the sensor

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mike Govea says:

Wait, I’m confused. So was Ricola a sponsor?

  33. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Nonofurbiz says:

God, I remember when the first powered seats came in. The boy/man given the job to check out howled like a dog when he got the job. Manager came out several times to quiet him down. Said the folks in the waiting room were making remarks. The last time he walked out he asked if it was disabled. Tech said no, why would it be. Manager backed it out and pulled into one of my bays. Handed me the keys and said fix it. I did, door switch was bad. I thanked my high school electronics teacher for not kicking me out of his class(I loved to screw with the others in class, the practical joker). Haven't looked back since. Been a drivability tech for 45 years. And these young kids think they know it all…. Yeah right!…

  34. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Joe Lopez says:

think my car has a similar code, a Hondo

  36. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars A R says:

    GM = Garbage Motors

  37. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Chad Fraser says:

Even small files can turn into substantial time lost when dealing with CAN Bus networks. Max throughput is only 125 kbit/s. Hospital equipment also uses CAN bus protocols and module updates just a few MB in size can easily take over 30 minutes.

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Ati Kovi says:

GM dealer could program it because he would be using a new module and the factory scan tool recognizes that. GM issued a service bulletin years ago when this platform first came out that modules are vin specific and you can't swap used modules between cars. Autel apparently has a workaround for that.

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Nearly Normal says:

What a bunch of bullshit just to sit in a car. What the hell has happened to this country.

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Gregg KUZILA says:

Maybe a woman had a baby in that seat

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Pierre Morin says:

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jose Hernandez says:

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mark Plenty says:

    Good old Chevrolet!

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars vulgivagu says:

What horrendous sum is it going to cost to repair the high tec EV vehicles when they are the same age as this car?

  45. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Matt L says:

"Stupid cars". Well said and I couldn't agree more.

  46. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars hightttech says:

Great tutorial 👍. How nice that the seat is full of electronics.

  48. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Gee Bee says:

In this case, only you can do it since we can't get a GM OEM scan tool. Just sayin ;P
