my airbag light is on in my 2018 impala passenger presure sensor is high level tried to recalibrate it no help wont even erase so if i take it to the dealer they have to change the whole seat?

It's not always true when Eric says "remember if I can do it, you can do it" I don't think even GM could do this job, even there own scantool couldn't solve the problem and would just tell the customer to buy a new car.

Put a solid piece of 12 guage wire where the fuse is and follow the smoke. The go to a junkyard an buy the seat belt hatch and insert it in the buckle. Then put your mother in law in the passenger seat and hit a big tree.
Is possible to unlock a replaced passenger presence module without going to the stealership? What code reader/scanner tool will get it done?
When I was quiet in my GM cars I heard them rust.

The dealership wouldnt have resolved the issue because the part is backordered and they wouldnt have went to a salvage yard and bought a used seat.
Chevy dealer: "we can't fix it but we re-stained your seat"

excellent info on the backlog and est. labor costs; my 2016 Verano performs ghost passenger seat sensing-
intermittently on when no occupant present and same on/ff states when occupant present–I'd be concerned if it was a primary restrainttrunk full of lawn & leaf bags; thank you; the research is ovah!Junkyards are a best friend for those who need to save a buck. They're on galactic back-order because they are Opel's built for the European markets and sold poorly in the US. The Buick Regal has the same issue: parts availability and basically junk.

God, I remember when the first powered seats came in. The boy/man given the job to check out howled like a dog when he got the job. Manager came out several times to quiet him down. Said the folks in the waiting room were making remarks. The last time he walked out he asked if it was disabled. Tech said no, why would it be. Manager backed it out and pulled into one of my bays. Handed me the keys and said fix it. I did, door switch was bad. I thanked my high school electronics teacher for not kicking me out of his class(I loved to screw with the others in class, the practical joker). Haven't looked back since. Been a drivability tech for 45 years. And these young kids think they know it all…. Yeah right!…

Even small files can turn into substantial time lost when dealing with CAN Bus networks. Max throughput is only 125 kbit/s. Hospital equipment also uses CAN bus protocols and module updates just a few MB in size can easily take over 30 minutes.
GM dealer could program it because he would be using a new module and the factory scan tool recognizes that. GM issued a service bulletin years ago when this platform first came out that modules are vin specific and you can't swap used modules between cars. Autel apparently has a workaround for that.
