In this video i have a look at a 2003 Chevrolet 1500 that has a P0446 Canister Vent Valve Performance code stored in it. Before you load the parts cannon have a look at the system and see if the vent valve is really the issue. -Enjoy!

Awesome tutorial, thank you very helpful
GM should be held liable for this. A 50 dollar part failed pulling fuel vacuum through the canister ruining the entire system
eric o such a good guy always takin care of customers
For a diy do you recommend getting the autel or just spend the money on the Bosch?
Thanks Eric, I really enjoy the videos. I’m a mechanic and I still don’t understand the EVAP System and purpose if you can explain and clarify I would appreciate it.
John 3:16
For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whosoever believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.
thanks so much for that very informative
Would that code cause the truck to shut off
Will a gas cap cause a p0446 also?
I have a 04 silverado 1500. I'm a truck driver so I decided I don't have time to be messing around with an almost 20year old truck. I replaced gas cap, canister and solenoid all at once. So far no return codes.
Great video.
Can this cause a vacuum leak code?
I have a 2003 Chevy Silverado how many amps is the fuel pump supposed be
HOW do I PULL out the intake purge switch?
I have a 2003 Chevy Silverado 1500 with only 68,000 miles with a code p0446. Checked the gas cap, used a code reader and reset/erased code and engine light went off. Drove down the street and came back on. So…any ideas? Thanks
Wish your shop was up here outside of Buffalo ny. I have a 07 classic 2500hd 6.0l with p0445 large leak changed purge, vent and new one gas cap any ideas also ran a scan the other day had p0300 random misfire. Just changed plug and wires about 2weeks ago. Any ideas?? Can a large evap leak cause p0300 hopefully you can steer me towards something else to look into love your channel. Thanks man
Dont move! Stay right here 🤣🤣👍🏻👍🏻
Scotty Kilmer says to never go the next dollar while filling your gas tank once the pump handle clicks off. Don't put in a cent more. Overfilling will flood your charcoal cannister and mess up your purge valve. Good advice, I think.
Very informative and fun to watch! Thanks for sharing, what a great video.
You are the best. Keep it up. Your family has to be proud of you for the knowledge, and the time it takes to make theses videos.
Hey buddy your info always helps me out. Being an auto body tech I noticed the way you smacked on the purge valve. You ever thought of workin dents?? I thought I was the only one who forgot to plug things in. You were on a roll buddy! I just gotta give you a little crap!! Thanks for your helpful video's they really help me out on the mechanic side of things. From the Big Sky Country of Montana!! R.F.
Watched the 2003 Chevy PO446 repair video. This mech is a professional that use diagnostic troubleshooting to confirm the truck malfunction. Informative demonstration to repair its problem. Bravo!!!
I have no idea what I’m I’m watching – obd-ii brought me here
So what was the issue here?
Dude, great content and thorough diagnostics!
Trump?🤮. Come on Eric O I thought you had better taste than that trash
What if you can't build pressure
I have the same truck. would an evap system failure cause misfires and backfires? the engine checks out fine on a vac/compression test and all new ignition that tests ok. tech w/ snapon zeus said everything is perfect on engine data. getting p0445 and general misfies on the computer. chasing a ghost here -.-
Thank you for getting it done use your tips
Love watching your videos. Your sense of humor make working on cars interesting and fun……lol
My canister had engine oil coming out of one of the ports. Not a lot, maybe like index finger tip wise. Is that normal? Engine light turn off for now after blowing it with the compressor. Also no dust came out like some of the other videos.
I've got an 05 with the same code auto zone printout said evap canister.
We have these issues on CRVs when customers try to squeeze more fuel into their tank after the pump clicks off, the fuel gets in and eats the sponge filter that keeps the charcoal in and little tiny bits of charcoal get sucked into the purge and blocks it open. We have to replace the canister, the purge valve and blow out the line in-between. Hope it was worth it to hit 50$ exactly on the pump!
I’ve watched a lot of your videos. Love that your a great family guy and your videos show you are an expert in the field. Tx for helping me learn on stuff. 👍
I had a issue like this but I crossed the line inside hopefully didn't do that doing a job twice sux
Great auto tech. Eric the best
how does gas get/leak into the canister?
Thank you very much, you have helped me out tremendously
Great video sir. Love the commentary you sound like the sort I could sit and have a drink with. thanks for guiding us through.
I can't have been the only one yelling at the screen that the valve was still unplugged.
Hi Erick
Great Explanation, I enjoy your videos.
Great video Mr owe
clear and succinct. a joy to watch . thanks
Great video👍. I can fix just about anything on a car or truck. I’m just not much up on emission controls. I have an ‘04 Chevy 1500 and you have schooled me on checking and not guessing. I can’t afford a scan tool like you have but I have a BlueDriver, yeah I know not the same thing but I believe there’s a live data feature. Now with some better knowledge from your vids I have somewhat a better understanding of my EVAP system and what’s going on. Movin’ forward. Thanks man!
Easy to follow and helpful
I'm getting the same code on my 2012 silverado
Nice video. Good info. Liked and subscribed.
I know this is a stupid question but what would've happened if it kept pulling a vacuum?
I been trying to find out what that purge solenoid for a long while now till this video. Thanks a bunch!!! Now i can go get me a new one. My brother ended cutting the tube off of it also so now im looking for that too. Can you send me in the right direction on getting one?
