In a previous video I diagnosed this Jeep Grand Cherokee WJ as having a bad PCM. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_x0tp4M5kOI . The shop just got a used PCM and had me come back to get it working. We have to go into the SKIM module and do the PCM REPLACE Feature using the DRB III. -Enjoy!

Which autel scanner model can handle theses same options that you'd need obd3?
Hey I have same Jeep and my ecm board has a solid thick silicone over it. Anyway can’t get that key symbol off. Jeep won’t crank
Just replaced the PCM in the kids 97 Jeep GC …. runs great…
Disappoint. No Brake Clean.
chrysler "moving through" …. (to the junkyard)
I have a 01 jeep grand Cherokee Laredo. 4.0 inline 6 3 speed with overdrive transmission. Dealership has had it almost a year I get the vehicle back about ever month drive it 60 miles an the overdrive goes out every time. I've spent 9 grand. New wheel speed sensors new transmission new transfer case. Transmission cooler also. They have put 4 brand new transmissions in it 2 rebuilt transfer case an 2 new transfer case. I've replaced about everything. What in the fuck is wrong with it. Anyone know ???
If you don't mind me asking where could I find or buy one of those scanners for programmers that you got that you're the one that you using on the jeep thank you
Why not put the damn ECM up under the dash, or like my old Honda, near the passenger kick panel?
Recently discovered channel and have been binge watching. Didn't know how much I didn't know. Thanks for all your videos! Great content, commentary, and humor. Even my wife has been watching and she's not at all into cars.
When Louis Rossmann is starting to fix car ecus?
Hi Eric, I'm wondering if the coding of the skeem and ecm could be done with Launch products? Do their products have this capability?.
Dealers should get the electronica computer crap out of cars. Completely unnecessary, and only makes things more difficult to repair in the long run. I have seen a lot of your videos will you get rather in depth when it comes to tracing down computer related problems in cars. All that junk is completely unnecessary to have an a vehicle. Cars from the 60s ran just fine without any computers in them whatsoever. In fact, I believe they actually ran better.
THANKS FOR THE VIDS PLEASE KEEP THEM COMING .
Thanks for the follow up.
So his Jeep was parked at your shop for what 3 weeks free of charge! Man your a nice guy it would be at least $2.00 a day at any shop around we’re I’m from Denver Colorado.
Excellent work, as always.
Thanks for the video.
Good job as always! Yes I remember, I watch all your videos. 🙌☺️
Do a vid where you make the wrong call.. cause ya know, if you can do it, we can do it
Been having issues with a 08 Altima v6 Step Motor in Valve assembly. Can’t buy them at Nissan so I got one online still same issue. You ever come across that on the CVT 3.5?
Great job again
New Mercedes have 90 computers that talk to each other, can't wait to see how those fare after driving in the salty northeast.
Computer stuff is great until it's not. Thanks Eric for the follow up and confirmation.
I wonder what the vehicle history looks like. Board corrosion nearly always happens with exposure to humidity. I have often wondered if putting the ECM into a bag with desiccant pouches could help protect against this problem in coastal areas….
Thanks Eric
“If you can do it, I would like to think I could do it, but don’t have the vast knowledge that you do!” However, I do have a good excuse to buy more tools!
is the device you are using regulated by government?
Not all of us have the convenience of having the proper scan tool to program PCM's,Skim modules, keys ect.and are at the mercy of those who do including dealers. As I stated in the previous video my WJ went back to the dealer AFTER it was misdiagnosed and parts thrown at it by a trusted repair shop. Do the research folks, the South Main Auto channel is a good resource for just that. Also as I stated before WJ's are prone for shorts to the electrical system so check all ground connections to the frame and engine. I also checked my new PCM that was installed from Chrysler and it does have a rubber seal showing around the edge of the PCM so Chrysler is aware of the problem and doing something about it.
Another correct diagnosis by Dr. O.
Eric you are my GURU. Adopt me, please! 😉
Cool vid..
Do you hire/rent older manufacturer diagnosis tools? I can't have them all, I guess it's safer to use those original tools. I just can't stand how they all go custom and not have standard initialize/virginize functionality build in, a car theft might just "raise" the Car up or come with specialized hardware anyways :-/
👈😀👉
Thanks Brother O. Been binge watching 2 yrs of vids
Did I see a Vacuum Tube Socket on that board? It looks like there should have been a couple on there. Nice to see a quick follow-up on a job like this.
My WJ has a P0601, looks like there's some green puss by that Intel flash memory chip on the ecm in the video, wonder if that's what mine looks like. Thanks!
1-2 BBQ… good job
He went full Ivan on the PCM! Never go full Ivan on the PCM.. (unless you're Ivan)
'I can do it, you can do it'? Some ones been watching Naomi Wu, AKA sexy cyborg. Time well spent, a very smart lady.
Wow nice follow up. Glad to see the "new" PCM worked out, though probably not as glad as the owner.
another successful heart transplant by DR.O
That was very cool and good diagnosis. The shop i worked at only the OTC Genesis not really sure if it was capable of doing that stuff plus it wouldn't install customers parts.
Nice, thanks for the followup. It's been awhile since i've seen a DRB 3, that one looks nice for it's age. Funny that this popped up, i'm trying to program an additional rke fob on my sister in law's 01Grand Cherokee. No luck so far. I'm going to have to find someone with a functional DRB 3 to get it done. Also, found out that instead of the rke functions being in the vtss module, it's in the pdm. Weird place for that.
That DRB looks ancient. It did the job. Interesting looking at what rust does to them circuit boards. Nice job Eric.👍
Mrs. O didn't hassle you in this. How disapointing. ha ha
I love all the Chrysler product videos you've done. You've convinced me I never want to buy anything by them. It would have been simple for them to have sealed up that ECU module or maybe engineered it so it was mounted in the cabin. They're trying to sell this as an off-road utility vehicle.
Thats awesome you have a DRB3 wish I did as its still a useful tool on the older models.
Jeep rubbish
Great video
Could the OTC Evolve do this procedure as well??
