In this video, that gets high jacked by Mrs.O., I show you what could be causing the "ticking noise" coming from your 3.6 engine in your Dodge Caravan. It could be your flex plate!? -Enjoy!

huh, good catch
Eric listen to the teacher wen it comes to essential oils….
I fixed dozens of these at the dealership. Pays 4.3 hours under warranty, but these are the easiest transmissions Ive ever removed and installed. The cherokee 9 speeds are a whole different story.
Is there a different flywheel to replace the OEM?
I’ve had this problem replaced at 81000 broke again at 87000 new plate again and a torque converter replaced keeping my fingers crossed .
And this vehicle a 2014 caravan is used mainly on the highway very little stop and go
Little Koreans wrapping their flywheel tightly. So I am a young teenager when my older brother is tearing apart the cases on a small Japanese motorcycle because we used them for trail riding. I can remember him saying several times, "those little 90lb Japs can sure put these bolts on tight". But we never knew they had a large variety too. One of the Japanese Admirals during the battle of the Marianas was 6' 7".
i love ur channel im self taught and ive been learning for 6 months i know SOME stuff but ur videos really teach me alot and they show me how to do thing the right way ….i domt wanna be known as a half butt mechanic i want my reputation to exceed me
Remember when Lee Iacocca apologized for making a crappy car?
So I have the same problem on my 012 journey, Any torque specs on thos bolts?? Thanks man.
"It stinks" that's Chrysler stink
tig weld the crack and balance it, if hard to get a us made OEM flexplat.
How did you bar the engine over
I have a co worker that needs to replace the 2nd flex plate in his Dodge minivan. I wonder if there is another source other than Mopar that would have a more reliable part.
How much wound that repair cost?
How long does it take from start to finish for an experience mechanic to do this replacement?
Servings have the same problem bad motor mount can cause it
This is just another reason Chrysler has always produced a steaming pile of shit for a vehicle
Appreciate the video man I had a horrible noise in my engine and because your video it led me to check my flex plate my flexplate is got worse cracks in it than the one you showed in your video
A $60 part that costs $1,000 to fix.
Sounds like Dodge.
I would have liked to see the process of getting the transmission out.
Ya shmellit
You didn't tell a us how to install it that's sucks..
Noise starts out sounding like a lifter going bad. Then on to an a/c compressor going but its the flex plate. Thank you Chrysler…idiots!
I have a 2012 grand caravan, looks like the same thing you've got there. I am just about to drop my transmission and can't find any information about how to properly support the engine. It looks like I need to remove 3 out of 4 of the engine mounts, and oddly enough there aren't any hoist hooks on the top of the engine to support it. Can you share how you pulled off the transmission? Also, the passenger side axle was one of the hardest things I've ever had to remove off of anything. What did you use to get it off / put it back on?
Any particular way to reinstall the torque converter? Just replaced a flexplate and now the motor is extremely hard to turn over. Took back apart 3 times to try and figure it out and haven't yet. Confirmed that the flexplate is installed correctly. Otherwise, stumped. Thanks in advance.
What year was that van
What year is this caravan ?
Hello wow i hope my car has this " do you have the audio of the sound?" I hear the same sound when ac turns on. I want to confirm before i spend money on it.
So how do you know it’s a flex plate vs a rocker arm? I have ticking that I thought was 100% a rocker arm but after watching this video I’m not sure any longer. When I heard the ticking and it was real loud from under the truck (Grand Cherokee) but also on the drivers side head. Is there a distinct difference in sound from the two?
The what the frick did these lil Koreans put this thing together with comment was absolutely hilarious
myrr is funeral incense
Customer had trans replaced at dealer. 10,000 kms later it starts making noise.
Take it to dealer, say that isnt the problem and not sure what the noise is. $180 bill and no resolution. 5 minutes. I found a crack. 5 minutes.
So now i have to fixt it.
Figure i can scooch it far enough back that i can swap it without completely removing trans?
Is a 11 joirney.
Ya,i didnt think so either.
is the new flexplate beefed up any?
Eric, your Rock Auto magnet collection is epic. I have 22 of them and I thought I was doing good.
Saw this happen in a customer Volkswagen Routan. It was really a clunking banging noise by the time the customer drove it in. Rather than wait a week for VW to get the part, I called the local Dodge dealer who had one by the next morning. If I remember right there was a large enough inspection port in the bellhousing to be able to see that exact same crack.
Were planning on getting a used dodge grand caravan SXT plus with 99.000 k on it should i be worried?
Myrrh is tree resin, but if you eat a few pieces it'll clear your sinuses out like nothing else. Works better than nasal spray.
About how many miles does this happen ? At 104000 miles we had the torque converter blow , that sucked .
When I rebuilt my Olds Small block 403, I kept cracking Pioneer stock flexplates.
I solved the problem by buying an SFI Approved Flexplate.
Did you check the alignment dowel holes in the trans bell housing for damage?
Check the alignment dowel holes in the trans bell housing. If they’re damaged you’ll be putting another one in shortly.
had a AMC 6 232 flex plate cracked all the way around flywheel turn over not engine there never learn a thing in 66
Great video buddy. Say I have an 08 caravan 3.8 L
Does the same thing. Approximately what does it cost to have one replaced?
And this is why all the american auto manu's, except ford shockingly, ran to the gov for money. And you all paid dearly for them to continue to deliver substandard products. Not even sure you can call them american auto manu's tho since all their parts are made in china…
Eric, what years have this issue? Thank you Eric.
My wife swears by the essential oils too. Tries to give me some peppermint on my temple when I have a headache. I'm like no thanks I'll take the Motrin 800. Lol
LOL, on your little Korean comment. spent time in Korea and eventually married one. I know what you mean by over-packaging. They pride themselves on this feature. Shipped a custom embroidered winter coat to family. They used heavy cardboard box, double taped every side, and then put plastic straps with metal clamps on them. Family complained about how long it took to open.
Pulling the transmission out in a 04 Durango due to stalling when put into gear and a loud ticking coming from the bell housing. Worst transmission job I've ever had to do. When getting the inspection cover off involves removing the motor mounts and lift engine you know it's going to be a nightmare
Cheap Chinese metal, or is it Korean metal?
The 4 yr old super happy to see her "Minnie" again! She sang songs about the van the whole way home! 🎶🎵🎶 Thank you again so much; truly appreciate everything!
