In this video I knock out a front brake job on a Honda Accord. Along the way we get a few tips from MeMaw, reminisce about some old rap music and fix a seized caliper pin. Other than that, just a run of the mill brake job.

Were you around for the DJ Magic Mike sound system music days?
You said rap and music in the same sentence.
Make sure they bed those brakes. I bought that exact combo for my 2018 Accord and they warped in 5000 miles. The pads were horrible with brake dust also. I had to get the rotors turned and had them put on Honda OEM pads. I had always had great luck with the Ultra Premiums and Adaptive One combo. Not this time. Maybe they installed them wrong? I am not a mechanic.
i like the drill bit in the caliper pin hole idea i had one that was a bit sticky and was just cleaning it out with q tips and such tried rolled up sandpaper but never thought of a drill bit to scrape it learn something new every time i watch these brake jobs
I see there were no "anti-rattle" springs, i.e., those V-shaped wire springs that are inserted into the pad before the caliper is installed, either on the old pads or the new pads. My 2005 Honda Civic had the springs on the original brake pads, but the replacement pads I got online have neither the wire springs included in the kit nor do the pads have the hole drilled in the backing plate. Are these "anti-rattle" springs a thing of the past and are there reasons why they are no longer considered essential? I'm wondering if it has something to do with regional differences. I'm in California where we don't have the grit, salt, rust, etc., that you seem to deal with in the northeast and maybe these "anti-rattle" springs don't work as well in your neck of the woods so nobody bothers with them anymore?
I'm so glad that it's on a 2006. A friend who wants me to help him change his brakes has a 2006 Honda Accord. Thank you Mr. O.
I'm not really a mechanic but closer to a parts changer but I wish I knew more but your videos have really helped me.
Get a pistol bore brush. They would do a good job on those brake bracket holes…
What spray lubricant is being applied prior to putting on the rotors , I've seen it uses several videos but I never was able to get the name of it
I know it's an old video but you failed to say "with the big 3oh"
Brake job well done, step by step.
Man, the skee lo quote. Excellent.
Eric O is the only guy Ive seen to mention the the "brake hardware" issue hitting the rotor if you dont bend it "up and in." I did my brakes and rotors on this car and I have that sound when I press on the brakes hard. I didnt bend the the metal bracket up when did the job. No one else has mentioned that. Hence why Eric O is the s***
Harbor freight electric ratchet? How is it holding up in your shop?
"I ran outta things to talk about". Never stopped you before LOL
I would like to hear Mrs.o sing
The wife has 07 Accord, been buying parts, got new rotors and breaks, hers also has some shudder when applying the breaks, thought I'd watch a professional do it, also waiting for a day that's not cold as hell since I'll be doing it outside.
She’s snug 😉
Johnny Cash sang about Cadillac…song called One Piece At a Time
did you forget to clean the new rotors??? haha
Cash sang about "Cadillac"
Thank you for the fun informative video and the reminder to burp the accordion for that vacuum! 😁
Sir Mix a lot bring back memories!
Johnny Cash was a Cadillac guy—one piece at a time!
And I love the dramatics with the brake parts cleaner. LOL. 😛
Easy peasy!!😃
"Now some folks say it's too big
And uses too much gas
Some folks say it's too old
And that it goes too fast
But my love is bigger than a Honda
Yeah, it's bigger than a Subaru
Hey man there's only one thing
And one car that will do
Anyway we don't have to drive it
Honey we can park it out in the back
And have a party in your pink Cadillac"
-Bruce Springsteen (Pink Cadillac)
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I like to replace the rotor screws because I think they centre the rotor before tightening the wheel nuts.
Eric, I like your singing, this is a very funny video. Great video. I hope all in well with Mrs. O and the kids.
Hey Eric, excellent video as always. The wrench you used on the stuck pin, is it a Stahlwille, King Tony, etc., ? Thanks
Eric, where is the green gloves ? lol
Eric, if the sliding pin has rubber boot, what kind of lubricant you are using. My pin rubber swell after I used Permalax orange, other people complain for all Pemalax brake lubricants like green, purple….. . What you think about this problem with pin rubber boot?
You have great videos for the DIYers. For the ones who take their cars to the repair shop, they will know what should be done to do the job properly.
Eric O has the Determination today.
I dont listen to rap lol i love country Eric i think Alan Jackson sings alot about cars
I love the torque wrench click sounds when tightening the caliper bolts 🤣
Why don't you lube between the pad and clip?
Is that almost the Galactic Empire logo to the right of the oil filter? All it needs is a ring around it! Hurry go get a Sharpie!
What is that lug nut thing you are using to hold the rotor in place while you work?
Just a heads up, permatex says not to use that particular brake grease on rubber, and a lot of people I've heard have had issues with their caliper pins seizing because the rubber swelled up. They do make one that's a silicone ceramic that's safe on rubber but I just use some 3m silicone grease on the caliper pins
Eric, you teach us well, thank you!!
is it important to use threadlocker to secure the caliper mounting bolts?
Now go change a 94-97 Accord's front rotors. Not a walk in the park like newer ones. 😉
Great video!
This guy is great! Down to Earth.
I like the rapper Xavier wulf and he makes many references to Honda’s/ jdm drift cars in general
