After making the initial diagnosis on this vehicle and determining it is in cylinder number two, it is time to pull the intake and have a look to see if we were right! UPDATE: Customer had me remove the heads and off to the machine shop they went. Machine shop reported back that ALL intake valves need to be replaced even though they would seal, they had slight bends to them when installed on valve grinder. -Enjoy!

You made the call day one. Thought it didn't appear to cause as much damage as suspected. I would recommend that both heads be pulled so that all fasteners would be checked for proper tightening. If I were you I would have to get the customer to agree to you continuing only if you were allowed to do 100 percent of the work from scratch.

This is shot in the dark that youll even see this….how much did the machine shop charge for fixing/replacing all intake valves? I just have been trying to get a ballpark number at least. To no avail. If your eyes do run across this just want to let you know, you are my hero. I can only hope to be half the man you have become.
this is the second time Ive seen someone align the crankshaft incorrectly. This one guy….he posted a video on Youtube teaching people the wrong way to align the crankshaft. He said the little arrow should be facing south. I couldnt believe my eyes. I immediately tried to warn people its incorrect. But imagine all the engines this freaking guy ruined. Who knows! maybe this is his car!

You're phenomenal dude. A lot of mechanics have problems with dyirs like me, and understandably so. but you have props man. Given customer's bs job and then not taking offense if they took your assistance but wanted another Crack at it.
I would call the customer first. I find out if he wanted you or even himself and save whoever the the time and effort of removing it again

if all the bolts were loose the bolts on the cam gears were also loose and slipped the timing. Good times.

This is the problem when so called do it yourselfer did not know enough to tackle this job. There are books and/or online instructions to do this. I feel sorry for the guy, but he should have done more research before he tried to tackle this job. Great job of diagnosing Eric!

those valve stems are just a bit bigger around than a coat hanger change em and use new head bolts itll be fine

Well all I can say is I have had to take both heads off after I did a timing belt. I was not going to take it somewhere else and have them laugh at me for my screw up. I was taught it is ok to make a mistake as long as you learn from it

I'm a female and I enjoyed watching this, I used to hang about listening to the males in my family work on cars when I was a kid so for most of it I knew what he was talkin' about..also I'm buying a 2004 Honda Odyssey.
That sux, there goes that feeling of self satisfaction for doing something yourself…. plus another $600 bucks gone for the second valve job within 1 mile of operation! Poor guy, that's how hard working, do it yourselfers learn though!

DIY, I can do it myself I don’t need a mechanic 😂😂😂 see this all the time. People try and save a buck and end up costing themselves more in the long run.
as soon as the engine is fixed the trans will fail.. Odyssey's are notorious for trans failures.
Never do a head gasket as DIY, leave it to the mechanic.
I would have said its junk now , go buy something else and be careful when you work on it
