In this video we replace the front pads and rotors on a 2013 Non-Hemi Dodge Ram 1500 4x4. It is pretty routine just as we have shown in many other videos. -Enjoy!

Some of the Brake Pad Break in procedures are insane slam on brakes at 45mph 5 times then Light brake pressure at 15mph 8 times then Medium slam on brake 10 times at 50 like Come on With these company's that make brake pads they all have a different procedure I tend to do the sane as you Eric O they don't need to be 300 degrees to Brandish the pads they just need to be used to Mary the pads to the rotors good video Eric O @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC

What I would like to know is every time I buy new pads I have never gotten any hardware. I think you mean those squealers and end clips. Maybe you have to tell them you want them and pay extra. Only been replacing pads since 1970 and they have never given me hardware. Shucks I never knew you could ask for it.

I use thin film of regular grease…sometimes brake grease between the hub and the rotor and the rotor and the wheel. I started doing this after a very bad experience with a mazda brake rotor that would not come free from the hub on one of my parents vehicles. I also include at least one panic stop in the test drive. Make sure it is tracking straight.

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Frederick Burns says:

Bendix Westinghouse brake school do not recommend and actually they do not recycle brake fluid that is old in other words open your brake bleeder then collapse the piston for your disc brakes as old brake fluid has been heated and cooled many times and collects moisture when you push it back it can cause problems in your master cylinder!!!

Eric, I know this is an old video and you probably won't read my comment, but…I can't thank you enough for sharing your knowledge, experience, and technique with us. You've saved me so much money and given me an invaluable education in how to take care of my own vehicle within the bounds of my capability. You saved me hundreds of dollars on a brake job on my Hemi Ram, and I know it's done right with far more attention than any parts swapper is going to do at the local swap shop. I've done my own brakes for years, but I had no idea the proper lubrication points and the fine detail stuff. Makes all the difference in the world. Seriously man, can't thank you enough.

Eric, I’ve gone through 4 sets of premium rotors and pads by autozone on my odyssey in 2 years. Every replacement is due to shimmy or steering shake during braking. Any tips? I am really frustrated and have even replaced calipers with same results. Appreciate any insight
