Frustrating waiting on parts when you are all ready loosing money on a job. (Update: this footage is over a year old and all is well with the trans to this day 12/9/17)

Down south you have to plug all your lines . Thats to keep the Dreaded Dirt DAUBER out. All sizes ,those things will ruin anything !
well doing another one today. You got a lot of luck with those bolts in the bell houseing. I would cross thread at least one if I powered it in. I Always hand start everything even if its on the end of 4 or 5 extensions. . Send me some of your NY luck down to Bama ! lol EDIT> I dont need help I just love to watch a feller work. hahaha
Why is there a Y fitting on the rubber overflow tube on the top of the trans?
If my cars need work, I swear I'm driving to Avoca, NY.
I think I would have to take it for a test drive…for 31 miles!
Years ago I tried one of these crate (different manufacturers) transmission and had headaches like this , all for the sake of a few hundred extra $$ in my pocket instead of local rebuilder , hard lesson learned, Im retired mechanic now but Terry , nearly 70 still best guy to deal with in London Ontario
I would never get a tranny from Advance also I stay away from power Tran products too
Yes that is nice that you absorb the extra cost, but you cannot pay bills like that being nice. For me Jasper is the way, if they elect to do the other rebuilder they must sign papers that all further expenses are on them, and the labor difference is their responsibility. Or choose the Jasper for the repair, you need to step up and not take it on the chin. This needs to be posted as a policy so all is informed upon entry in to your shop. Same goes with aftermarket parts as compared to OEM factory. At least with a factory part if you are good with that dealership they will replace the part under warranty including labor, some dealerships are dingle-berries.
This has to be the best auto mechanic channel ever!! Eric your amazing at demonstrating and talking through all your repairs. Awesome mechanic/ technician/ wizard/ magician!!! The whole crew and the shop ethics are outstanding!!
dropping that tranie today ,putting a rebuilt one in. Hope I have better luck than you on the first one. You got me a little worried ! haha. hope the second one works better for all involved.
My kingdom for a lift!
Another great video. What was the white (?) goop you used to dope the threads on the trans line disconnects?
i just got to a point where rebuilding transmissions got in the way of workflow' to time consuming and the customers dont what to pay the older the vehicle is they seem to think the less they should pay' if you have total book time say of 3 to for hours rebuilding junk you can make good money on diagnostics and potential further income and no warranty nightmares on said junk
The time you spend to give us such precise views is very much appreciated. 👀
What??!! You mean solar isn't the solution the crazy liberals say it is? Never would have guessed that.
No codes, no leaks, no hits, no runs and no errors.
Boy howdy , I sure noticed that the drive shaft was sure crusty when Eric was putting it back in place.
I hate automatics. I'll stick with standards thanks.
I agree with buy reman. crap but question to you is why you don't overhaul these yourself? 4L60's are simple and then you know what you have.
i also found used was better than rebuilt.
When I had my shop (25 years ago) this "unit rebuilder" stuff was the bane of our existence. Valve guides installed with chatter guns. Transaxles 'rebuilt' with re-used synchro rings. Sir you have my sympathy and respect.
that is a nerve in your neck that makes you drop things
remand use china parts
it is that winter wonderland that makes you sick an the rust
he has a better light
Good rework video it sucks that they dont pay more to do all the rework on a failed trany
Common curtasy Mr o. These companies should have more respect for customer s I feel it too
Must look after yourself Mr o . Your the best you and family the best mentor . anyone could ever have . King of the castle 😎
I've binge watched loads of the SMA channel since I discovered it a few weeks ago and this is the first time I've seen you really pissed off…
How much rebuild transmission, like this cost?? How about your labor? Thanks =)
Excellent information 👍 Sir!
Always wanted to know how to do a transmission swap process.
Thank you for all the hard work you put in your community!
The type is called ORB or O ring boss and the threads are different. The new box had standard NPT threads. Incase you did not already know.
I noticed the dislikes. I suspect these dislikers don't work on cars that are routinely subjected to salt. Where I live in Oregon, a Honda can last for 20 years easily. My 2004 Accord has only been driven in the snow a dozen times or so, and never on a salted road. It's still rust-free. You do what is necessary to keep the car on the road, not preserve it for decades.
I build computers (I did spend three years rebuilding engines and 18 years as a machinist). In my experience, engines that have been overheated to the point of failure, are goners. And today, computer parts are MUCH worse than even 15 years ago, and warranties are pure make-believe. If an electronic part fails, the buyer eats the loss.
Wow I live in Milwaukee Wisconsin and I’m down the street from that place
Do you pre fill the torque converter?
No computer programming needed?
Great job my friend been watching you for around 4 month i learn so match with your expertise .great and lovely familly .god bless you and kids to.i am also in ny queens.keep up the good work.
You've got bum info about the torque converter bolts. I've installed hundreds of transmissions in my shops…
Just look first at the converter/flexplate bolt holes since two are elongated in circumference, the third is elongated in radius.
The one that is elongated in radius is your KEY bolt hole.
Put the KEY hole in position to access through the starter hole and you can install and tighten that one first, all the way.
The other two holes will then be in perfect alignment to install/tighten fully as you get to them.
This will save you time in not having to turn the flexplate around multiple times to get the bolts started and tightened.
Dont worry about tightening them like wheel nuts… go for total torque as you get to them.
Awesome mechanic!! Good attitude!😎
great video . love your work ethic and attitude. wish your shop was closer
Precision transmission in Amarillo, all they do and they do it well, fix many of the OEM short comings on every one they do.
Great job Eric.
Surprised their were no quick disconnect leaks.
If those threaded all the way in they need "O" rings like you said. Did it state on the package they were NPT on quick disconnects. I had to make custom fittings for my zo6 vette when I added after market radiator in it, which they sent barbed fittings and I wanted to stay with the factory quick diconnects.
I payed 1600$ J&M transmission to take it out rebuild it and put it back in 1998 dodge Dakota R/T 5.9 liter I hammered the shit out of it I have been to up state New York in my truck I live near cape cod Massachusetts so that’s a long ride . J&M is in norton Massachusetts . But they are the best . They guy has been in the same building for 40 years .
'…Not sure if you guys can see this'
We're your Youtube weirdos Eric. We see all!! 😀
Thank you very much, you saved me some money by showing me how to do it, thanks for taking the time to make this videos, you're awesome!!
Nice job Eric
Get sick cause not enough ice cream
We have to send a lot of our transmissions to the dealership to get programmed after we install them. We don't have the software to program them at our shop. Do you program them or send them to the dealership?
