Come along with Eric O. here at the SMA Shop as we swap out this re-man transmission that only lasted 1 day after we installed it! This is a 2005 Chevy Silverado with a 5.3 and it is two wheel drive.
We do run into a little snag though in the end... -Enjoy!

Junk yard trannie hum. Sitting here trying to figure how this fluid tube has got to be bent. It came out a wrecked truck. That small stuff ya know ? Thanks for the assistance.
Thanks amigo for all you for people like me ..muchos thanks ..
Rebuilt Advance Auto trans. Asking for trouble!
I would not trust a rebuilt trans as far as I could throw it.
I hate wearing gloves.
So when someone wants to put in a used transmission you warranty your labor? I understand maybe get a tranny with a warranty but they should always have to pay the labor on a used part/ parts that they insist on buying.
Hey Eric if you still use or recall the long extension brand/ length??? Thanks man
Iโm about to buy the 5.7 litre 2wd and Iโm wondering is the 2wd auto transmission really bad ?
I wish you were closer to my area I would put you to work Love the content keep it coming
Hate when Iโm in the middle of working on something and the phone starts ringing lol
Need to glue a magnet on that light.
Mine lasted 48,000 miles and grenaded while cruising at 70mph with the cruise set on a 3 hour drive. Dealer put another one in and that one has been good ever since. First one must have been built on a Friday.
Theres always Something that Doesn't Fit On remanufactured item 99 percent of the time it's always A Fitting Or a Threaded Line I feel you're aggravation Eric O @SouthMainAutoRepairLLC
What I want to know is why people waste their money on GM crap.
Aluminum & steel corrosion is called galvanicย corrosion
Dorman must make those gloves!!
I use jaspers trans. And motors
Wow mechanics have issues we wouldnโt know unless we seen it. I can imagine jobs being difficult enough without having to deal with differences in known parts. Still a great job explaining thank you!
blessings my name is Manolo I would like to know how to reset the automatic transmission module with scanner of a Chevy express 3500 4.8 2013 thanks
How would I remove just the extension housing? The yoke broke off where the bushing is so there's no play. I've hit it a few times but don't want to damage the shaft
Looks like you need a magnet like
I love the step-by-step style of your videos, great job and patience. I felt that statement near the end of the video when you said, โitโs always something!โ
Will a automatic transmission out of a 04 Yukon XL the same thing that is in a 06 Chevy Silverado
Got a reman 4l60e trans they left a lot stuff off the trans like the yoke sleeve that goes on the output shaft and Little odds and ends
I have a 98 chevy cheyenne would it be the same process
We use the harbor freight, black gloves at work and they hold up very well.
How much do you typically charge for a job like this?
Had same light same problems. Also always blinding me.
The tranny your pulling isn't the original. Someone swapped it before and its already gone bad again. I was looking at Silverados because they are supposed to be better trucks. Im not a Ford chevy or dodge guy. They all have problems.
I wood just to rid of it
Damn that frame is swiss cheese and the exhaust has seen better days. Surprised they put a reman in it
Thank you very much for what you do and taking the time to share. It's alot of extra work to do these videos.
I love older GM's, but yeah I did a trans on a 07 and ran into the same issue, There are a few different 4l60e's I think it has to do with the external trans cooler, some of the trucks had an separate trans cooler whole others are built into the trans, idk why they would change connectors for one or the other, but hey, GM…. lol
You never know what will go wrong or what parts will be wrong – that's life as a mechanic
Harbor Freight's 5000 Lumen, 4 ft. LED light is $20, and the very best work light ever. Attach a couple of globe light style spring clips to the housing. Very versatile.
Eric, I wonder if a light that you could mount on a headband would work better, much like what miners use, just a suggestion.
Hey so I have a question I canโt seem to find a answer so maybe you can help me. Is there a different transmission outside of the 4L60E that will bolt up to the 5.3l vortec. Just trying to find one that is more reliable
I had 4×4 99 dodge dakota.
We akig clicking noise I changed alo o suff the bought it to "pro". He saidhe fixe it.. nopr… the he switch transfer case.. then in wa rebalance shaft.. then u joints..
Ifiwantetdto play caneoarts and gues id done it myself.
I redid rear bearings and rear end for first time I ever did and problem gone.
Point is I you've few tools andyouub your smarter the so called pro
The beauty of the4x4 is the u joints he changed that wee fine broke… so o the highway I took driveshaft off, put bagwith sock over hole to not lose fluid popped it ifwd knowing only fronts would spin and drove miles to GAS Station ..
Dodge with back speed sensor in rear diff will have every light on your cluster on its odd
I'm curious! What does it cost today for any mechanic to replace a rear main seal on a 02 chevy 2500hd 4×4? Just throw me a number, Thanks…….
When can I bring you my truck, I need a new rear main seal its leaking oil! Help……
Dude you need to switch to EVs. You're too good for this rusted old ICE crap! Get rid of the exhaust pipe, the manifold, the catalytic converter and the transmission. All you need to fix is the air conditioner, power steering and brakes. Easy peasy.
Geez, Mr. O., it looks like for nut you break 2 pounds of rust comes down.
That sucks when that happens
I just finished the rear main seal, crankshaft sensor and oil pan shield. It was hard AF. I mean the mechanic almost had to use a pry bar to get the 550 out of my hand.
I feel ya! I hate that crap too!
Glad Iโm not the only one with the lights. ๐
Holy thunder, Eric is wearing gloves!!!!!
