Thanks for this detailed video! I had to replace the wiper motor on an 03 Grand Marquis (only had high speed and washers; no intermittent, low or park) and this video really helped show what to look out for and made it a simple task. Great camera angles too!

Without using a testing light,, how do we know if the problem is a bad wiper motor or the stalk on the steering wheel? Also, there is at least one other video on YouTube doing the exact same thing you're doing, but when he pulls off the wiper arms, there's no "keyway" in the arm (there didn't seem to be any in mine, either. Is this common for a 2008 Grand Marquis? Or is the keyway unique for your year of car?

If I was doing that motor it would be a 500dollar job. I replaced the one in my Ford pu and I’m here to tell you it’s like playing twister.

Can I still remove the wipers if they are stuck in the down position? My wipers are dead

  14. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Jigna Wedi Jigna says:

What mm bolts are u using? I’m about to do this same replacement on my 2008 grand marquis.

Recently inherited a great grand marquis. The washer is the only thing wrong with it. Thanks for the help! BTW that test rig and the access to the wiring diagram is nice!

  16. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Robby Fry says:

Well shit, mine won't come on at all. Went from only high to not at all. So how do I get it off?

Dear Mr. South Main Auto. My 2011 Crown Vic wiper motor just recently slowly died. I got lucky and found a brand spanking new wiper motor. (NO REFURB). (I Verified that the wiper motor is bad, and the column switch, fuses, relays are all good. The job should be easy peasy, however I have severe imparements, and I cannot bend over long enough to remove the cowling, etc. I hear that If I provide the wiper motor myself (Brand spanking new)…..a fair price for this job (by a real mechanic like you) should be no more than about $175.00. Please advise…does this price sound fair to you? Remember I will provide a brand spanking new wiper motor myself. BTW Thanks for this channel, I watch you nearly every day. God Bless, Johnny. FOOTNOTE: I ask you here because I am on a severely fixed income, so I seek your professional input. (For perspective) I am in the Greater Nashville area.

Thanks I have a 2009 crown Vic same problem going to tackle it this week thanks again

  20. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Chuck Hallowell says:

Get rid of the wiper arms that have the locating "key" — that always falls out and gets lost.
Replace with DORMAN wiper arms — that have the "key" locked in place. Dorman wiper arms have stronger springs, and wipe more uniformly.
Bosch "Icon" wiper blades complete the job, and your wipers are ready for all-weather service.

I have a problem with my wipers on my 07 grand marquis, the wipers only work on high and the wiper fluid doesn’t work, it’s either the multifunctional switch that controls turn signals, wipers and high beams or it’s the motor. I can’t figure out which one it is, you have any idea? If it’s the motor I’d like to buy the one you bought, which site or store did you get it from? Thanks

Thank you so much for this video. In my case, logic board on wiper motor was shorting out due to getting wet. As I uncover the problem, the board itself never got wet. It was because of the wiring harness going to the wiper motor was full of water. What caused this, is the harness is pinned to the plastic gutter/wiper housing; water got to the pin then leaked onto wire cluster, then to the port. Replaced motor, cleaned contacts, closed off hole for pin and tucked wire over the brake booster I believe. Fixed! Couldn't have done it without this video as I don't have the dealer service manual or alldata, etc. Thank you so much! You helped out a fellow mechanic from several hours of scratching my head.

  32. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Mark Gill says:

  38. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars M tspace says:

I have a 2000 MGM. Worst wiper system ever – especially in winter. Setup is similar, but 2000 model year have wipers that sit down below the hood line on a piece of plastic instead of on the glass windshield. This causes all sorts of problems with wiper distortion and premature blade failure. I get about 3 months from wiper blades no matter what brand. Good to see Ford remedied this problem on later models. Last of the body on frames. A little piece of America died when these cars were discontinued. Hit an interstate highway with a Panther and you will see what I mean. TY for the video.

  39. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars slowhand says:

I'm replacing the wiper motor on a 2000 Grand Marquis. Just removed everything today. This vehicle had the windshield replaced a while back. So of course, both keyways are missing. Do you have a part number on them or any recommendations where to purchase new ones? I guess I can just keep removing them until I get it rite. It would be a lot easier with the keyways though. Any help would be appreciated..

  40. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Nox says:

Is this the same for 2003 Crown Vic police model?

  41. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Vegan Saxon says:

New sub here….I just recently purchased a 2001 Crown Vic and when I turn on the wipers, they move up about an inch and stop..when I move them with my hand they make the entire swipe but will not move on their own…maybe the motor is bad…I haven't taken the cover off yet and looked because I have been busy with removing the stock Y pipe so I can hear the exhaust..its a civilian LX that was owned by a little old lady

  42. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Gardener Mike in San Antonio says:

I guess I will have to put your words to the test. My 2004 Crown Vic squirter does not work. I just finished watching this and the prior video. If you can do it, I can do it. I also subbed and rang that bell.

  43. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Kim Madison says:

  44. Avataaar/Circle Created with python_avatars Neil Ouellette says:
