Come along with Eric O. as we swap out this hydroboost brake booster on this 2002 Chevy 2500HD 6.0. This job is pretty similar to those with a vacuum assist brake booster that they use on a lot of the half tons. -Enjoy!

You're right brother. The shop rags are RED!!! Hell…I'm color blind and can see they're red…or brown…ijs… Eric is right, that's all that matters.

thanks!
I have this same truck no brakes all the noise is coming from power steering pump what could it be
Thank you for the vid…. Now I finally know what Beetlejuice was been doing… Before he died…😆😆
How do I know if mine is gone. My pedal goes right to the floor. Not sure if it's leaking. My pads are all good. Still have lots of fluide
great job eric
Three ugha duga’s later and the world is good.
Thanks for the tip
I will do my it leaks a little bit of oil 👍
Can I call you (willing to pay for advice)? I’m doing my 2005 suburban hydro boost replacement and I can’t get that top right nut moving. I’m thinking about just cutting it off inside the engine bay!
Man I need your help I have changed the ps pump, gear box, booster, lines still spongy brakes and no ps. No one can figure this out.
Great video thank you! Calmed my nerves attaching this on my 05 Tahoe
If air gushes out inside cabin when patting brakes with engine off does that mean its bad?
There is always some hydroboost expert on YouTube…
My dad and I have been trying for an entire 2 hours to get the brake switch back into place
Great video, informative and helpful. Gonna go get greasy now.
My sincere appreciation for your great video, you could make a career making videos, all very clear THANK YOU
I hope he replaced all the PS fluid
Appreciated the video, just have to say your voice sounds exactly like Beetlejuice which makes the video even better ✌️
I just completed this job and found my booster contaminated just a little bit so a few tips.
1. flush your system including your hoses.
2. booster hoses are 18mm and 16 mm with needle nose pliers.
3. brake switch removal use a little 90 degree pick comes right off.
4. remember which way the switch goes on as mine fell off.
5. Booster hold down studs use a swivel NOT a u joint, and use a deep socket.
6. replace the o rings on the hoses…mine came with the rebuilt booster from A1 Cardone.
7. The spring inside the booster had to be reused remember how deep it goes in the groove, there is 1-3 grooves on there if you go to deep.
GREAT VIDEO WATCHED IT A FEW TIMES WHILE DOING THIS JOB.
I have 30,000 on my GMC 2002 2500HD and I need a power steering pump again, brake lines and several other problems. That's right only 30,000 miles. I'm NOT very happy. Lost the brakes and all of the power steering fluid. Not sure what's bad. I had one power steering pump replaced, and not sure if a hose broke this time. The use to be a good truck. 4×4 and taken care of, it just went to Hell. This is about 4 that I have owned and this one SUCKS also GMC SUCKS ! Rust Bucket!!!
Can we get a tool box tour 🙏
Good video however when I changed mine out the master cylinder push rod that came with the new unit was longer so it wouldn't release my brakes. Very simple to pull your push rod out of your old unit and install it in the new one. I agree with Eric that it doesn't make sense to send a new rod if you don't need it however if you skip this you may have brake trouble.
Hit anything with brass hammer?! What about your wife?
Love seeing a mechanic that tastes and knows the many different fluids of a vehicle. This is a sign of a great mechanic, not a run-of-the-mill mechanic. We lost most of the guys like yourself that use their god-given senses to diagnose a problem. Not like others that can only plug in a computer and hope it points them in the right direction. Then to top it off, we still get a bill for exploration and our original issue still exists. (Prime example) My sister-in-law asked a shop, why are my car breaks squealing? Shop replied, our mechanic replaced the left rear TPS and you should be good now.
Excellent!! Thank you!!
Is bleeding it a hassle?
I have that same werid symptom you talked about in the beginning
Stupid bullshit. I love gm but wtf. Just use a vacuum booster
Thanks
I just want to THANK YOU for this video! I'm pretty handy with a wrench but didn't have a clue on the hydro-boost replacement. Made it a smooth operation and my '06 suburban is no longer hemorrhaging power steering fluid! You rock!!
My 05 Escalade 'kicks the break pedal up toward me' when starting the engine… Anyone ever experience this symptom?
great vid eric.
Thank you man you solved my problem it was just a spring i didn't put on
Always a help securing my confidence.
I converted my 97 F150 to hydraboost with wildwood MC. Total pain to do but stops on a dime.
Great job!
Thanks for the video
Good job My friend. Perfec…👍
I really enjoy watching and listening to this man, nice to listen to someone who really does know what he is doing . Thanks Eric. As always an excellant video.
Very helpful, thanks for posting this video!
It's always nice to have an assistant with eagle eyes to find parts that go flying or dropped under the car.
I wonder if GM engineers have heard of YouTube? With almost a half million views on this video alone, it's apparent that someone needs to introduce YouTube to GM.
How expensive is the part
Awesome video 👌👌👌
What's that swivel on the end of that air ratchet nozzle connected to the air hose called?
I thought you had to bleed it first?
